From the WGLT newsroom, I'm Ben Howell. Massage therapists in Bloomington say they feel hurt as the city scaled back its regulation for their industry, but massage business owner Cindy Termundi says she's not sure the new registration process will help the city find and remove illicit businesses. Is

it's going to move to the fringe engines of the city or outside the city and just exist there?

You know, how much further is it going to push it

out.

Turmundi says she agrees with the city that human trafficking is a big problem at spa businesses and that many massage therapists face risk from customers who have misconceptions about what services they provide.

Governor JB Pritzker has selected his running mate. Christian Mitchell of Chicago served 3 terms as a state representative and 4 years as one of Pritzer's deputy governors. He was introduced in a campaign video. As difficult as life can be, I believe it can be a little bit easier if you've got leaders in government who care about working families, making life more affordable, making health care more accessible. Pritzer calls Mitchell a proven leader with deep experience. When he was deputy governor, he helped lead negotiations on major infrastructure and climate legislation.

The opening of a new Boys and Girls Club will expand childcare capacity in Livingston County. The $6.4 million space in Fairbury will more than double the club's capacity for after-school care. They're also considering getting a DCFS license to become a childcare center. Club executive director Jody Martin says they work closely with the Prairie Central School District to care for children so parents can work.

Some of them work in Bloomington, some of them work in, you know, the surrounding cities, and so they don't have a way to get their kids. The new space was built largely through private fundraising, and students enrolled at Illinois Wesleyan this fall will have additional academic options. The liberal arts university in Bloomington is adding majors in nutrition and physical education, a new concentration in quantum science.

And technology will also be available beginning in August. With the concentration, Illinois Wesleyan joins a small group of Midwest universities that offer quantum science training at the undergraduate level, despite Illinois being an outsized role in quantum physics scholarships. Argonne National Laboratory in Lamont and Thermal Lab in Batavia are among the country's leading research labs. I'm Ben Howell.
