From the WGLT Newsroom, I'm Ben Howell. Several Bloomington City council members are expressing frustration over the city's financial commitment to the Market Street parking garage. Sheila Monney was one of 3 council members who voted against an $80,000 contract for monthly.

Inspections and a hazard mitigation plan for the deteriorating garage.

Is this is inevitable plank that we're on here. I mean, there's gonna come a day when there's no more parking there. When do you draw that line?

The contract passed in a 6 to 3 vote.

Districts when there are changes that occur without much notice or without a fully executed plan. The delay is for a review of whether the programs to grant money funds is in line with new priorities for the Department of Education.

The head of an insurance trade group says it's unfortunate that Governor JB Pritzker so publicly attacked State Farm over its 27% homeowner's rate increase. Kevin Martin has been executive director of the Illinois Insurance Association for 31 years. He says he's never seen a governor go after a single insurer like this.

I kind of wish that, you know, the governor or his staff would have reached out to have that conversation, you know, directly with State Farm before issuing a public statement like that, because I don't think it does anyone any good. Pritzker says he thinks State Farm is shifting out of state costs on the homeowners here. State Farm denies that.

Illinois is now one of a handful of states taking executive action to evaluate the impact of President Trump's tariffs on the state's economy. Trump announced last week he's levying 30% tariffs against Mexico and the European Union. Governor JB Pritzker is now directing state agencies overseeing employment security and commerce to figure out what industries are the most vulnerable to trade disruptions. He's also calling on agencies to assess how the blanket tariffs will impact medical and food supply chains, as well as infrastructure projects. I'm Ben.
