From the WGLT newsroom, I'm Ben Howell. A consumer advocacy group wants people to stay safe and cool, even as Amin customers anticipate cost increases this summer. Communications director Jim Chilson with the Citizens Utility Board says his organization is worried people will go to extreme measures to lower their electric.

Keep in communication with your utility with Amrin. If you're struggling to afford your bills, contact Amrin to inquire about payment plans, Jillson said changes in price at the level of regional power grid operators means providers like Amran anticipate increases in summer pricing of around 20%.

Governor JB Pritzker backs a plan to give community colleges authority to grant 4-year degrees. It hasn't passed yet, but 24 other states have that provision. Heartland Community College president Keith Cornell says deciding whether to offer a 4-year degree should be simple. Look at what nearby 4-year institutions already do. Does the program exist already?

And if it does, then we, we shouldn't be doing it. Cornell says community colleges and four-year institutions should talk to each other about community needs.

A new urgent care clinic in West Normal will be open within the next month, mostly for Rivian employees at the start. Ivan Reyes is chief operating officer of Pentas Health, who owns the clinic. Reyes says it should take up to a year for all phases of the clinic construction to be complete.

We're phase one now, and this is the primary urgent care side. Then we have diagnostics, and then we'll have the surgery center coming

in.

Reyes says the 35,000 square foot clinic will be open to all in the Bloomington Normal area when complete.

And as drowning remains the leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 4, the Bloomington Normal YMCA has joined in a new partnership to better educate parents and families this swimming season. Senior aquatics director at the Bloomington Normal YMCA, Tim Reidy, says the goal of the Water Coalition is to make all swimmers competent in the water. Through our coalition, we're building a comprehensive ecosystem of water safety.

This includes everything from learn to swim programs and CPR training to lifeguard certifications and online resources. Also in the partnership are the City of Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department and the American Red Cross of Central Illinois. I'm Ben Howard.
