The All Whites coaching staff are putting a communication breakdown between two senior players down to the realities of playing positive football.

A mix-up between goalkeeper Sail and defender Tommy Smith over who would collect a pass in last night's nil-all draw with China, led to Smith being sent off.

Assistant coach Simon Elliott says the team moved on from the issue well.
