Graeme Sudholz - PTSD Caused by Childhood Trauma

View descriptionShare

Today on Wellbeing, we are talking with Graeme Sudholz, someone who has gone through a complex PTSD journey. Complex PTSD is considered to be a more severe form of PTSD and is commonly developed following trauma in childhood. Graeme's trauma occurred within the first few months of his life when his mother tried to drown him. Because of this event he had the same recurring nightmare for the next 60 years and lived his entire life unaware of his PTSD until he was diagnosed in the 1990s. But it has only been in the last 18 months that Graeme has been able to manage his Complex PTSD due to undertaking Innovative psychedelic treatment. Today Graeme is a part of Mind Medicine Australia's lived experience board.

In this episode, Graeme talks about his journey with PTSD, how PTSD affected his emotional state, his relationships, his daily life, how he has found success with psychedelic therapy, and how that psychedelic therapy can change the life of someone who has PTSD.

"I suppose my saving grace was I didn't know any different because the trauma happened in first few months of my life, my mother tried to kill me, she had postnatal depression and she tried on numerous occasions to drown me, to suffocate me, and I knew something was happening but I didn't fully understand." - Graeme Sudholz on this episode of Wellbeing
