This week on Wellbeing, we speak with Dr Sally Hunt from the University of Newcastle, Australia. Dr Hunt is a Clinical psychologist having worked in both a clinical and research capacity in the field for almost 20 years. Sally completed her PhD in 2015 which focused on the connections between mental health struggles and alcohol use disorders. Her post-doctoral research has been focused on problematic alcohol use by women, and developing better tools and interventions to assist with this demographic.  

In this episode, Dr Hunt talks about how alcohol can affect and - in extreme circumstances - alter the brain, how drinking can affect an adolescent’s brain development, the culture towards alcohol in society, the connections between mental health struggles and alcohol, and the phycological reasons why people love alcohol.
