For the first time in decades Australia’s environment laws will be getting an overhaul.

With the help of the Greens the Albanese government has passed changes to the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act.

The reforms look to provide stronger protections for the environment, while also supporting businesses.

The changes have been welcomed by some environment groups but some industry bodies say they’re bitterly disappointed.

Other highlights from this week include.

  • The Call It Out First Nations Annual Racism Register's annual report highlights systemic racism across the country.
  • The Racial Profiling Data Monitoring Project outlines Victorian Police racial profiling rates.
  • And National Commissioner for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Children and Young People Sue-Anne Hunter speaks to us after meeting with childrens commissioners, guardians and advocates in Canberra.

This week's episode is hosted by Harrison Pedersen.
