A national strategy to improve food security in remote Indigenous communities has been welcomed by the Northern Territory's peak body for Aboriginal health.

The Federal Government has announced a 10-year plan to improve the accessibility and quality of fresh and healthy food in remote communities.

Other Highlights:

  • Queensland researchers have been surprised by hospital emergency department figures that show Indigenous Australians are twice as likely to go to hospital with asthma and allergy related illnesses compared to other Australians.
  • 11 sacred sites in western Arnhem Land Northern Territory will now have stronger legal land protections.
  • Only one in five Australian work places have eliminated the gender pay gap.
