Top seed Elina Svitolina has come through another stern test of her credentials at tennis' ASB Classic.
She's through to the semifinals after battling for more than two-an-a-half hours with British world number 68 Sonay Kartel to claim a 6-4 6-7 7-6 victory.
She’ll face third seed Eva Jovic tonight, while Alexandra Eala takes on China’s Wang Xinyu in the other semifinal.
Sky Sport Tennis Analyst Sebastian Lavie told Piney Svitolina isn’t number 13 in the world for nothing.
He says Kartel did have a few opportunities in the match, but overall Svitolina came out and played very clutch towards the end.
