It's a banner day for Kiwi athletics.
The late Sir Peter Snell's 62-year-old 800m national record has been broken by James Preston at a meet in Germany - by point two six (0.26) of a second.
It's an Olympic qualifying mark - pending selection by the national committee.
Preston says he's incredibly proud.
