The new test cricket season is set to get started, and specialist spinner Ajaz Patel is welcoming the challenge.

The Black Caps are due to play six tests in India and Sri Lanka - with the first clash against Afghanistan taking place next week.

Australian Correspondent Adam Peacock joined Piney to give an update on all the big events from across the ditch, including scenes from the Melbourne Cup.

They’re at the top of the table after two huge wins – claiming victory over both the Adelaide 36ers and Melbourne United. 

Piney caught up with Head Coach Petteri Koponen to discuss the success the team’s found so far this season. 

“We're playing well, but, you know, it's still early in the season.” 

“We have to stay hungry, have the same mentality, and go out there and compete every game.”

The White Ferns have returned home with the T20 World Cup in tow. 

They claimed their maiden title with a 32-run victory over South Africa after entering the tournament having lost 10 straight matches.  

The trophy is on tour around New Zealand, Maddy Green and Izzy Gaze among the Ferns touring with it. 

Green and Gaze joined Piney in studio for a chat about the team’s incredible achievement.  

“It was cool just looking up in that sort of last over knowing that we were gonna win, and seeing the smiles on everyone's faces and yeah, just the pure joy, was pretty, pretty fantastic.”
