It's all right, welcome back for our number three of the weekend Fantasy Update on the Fantasy Sports Radio Network, Joggle it up along with the Fantasy Tazz Jim Day. Glad to be back with my buddy Jim Day at least for a day and uh short angle producing us show, Uh keeping us flying straight and uh so howlp. I said, do you Jim about the news about Tim Tebow? Hey, look, I got nothing against Tim Tebow, and you know I hate to hear that he's injured and gonna miss arrest this season. But from what I heard, he wasn't really involved in all, you know, all the games anyway. From what I heard, I think he was only playing on the weekends. Yeah, I don't know, I'm serious. I think hasible really Yeah, he was a part time player. Okay, yeah, interesting. Hey, look when you're in the minor leagues, I mean, what are you You're getting paid a couple hundred bucks a game? If that mm hmm, you can make more? Yeah. Yeah, but like you mentioned in, the Mets just super hot, winning fourteen out of fifteen. Yeah, this is an important part of their schedule because they've been beaten up on the Marlins. Now that playing the Gnats this weekend and the big game last night. Yeah, Michael, A shirtless Michael Conforto on the back page of the New York Post. So, hey, you know what I mean. Yankees in, but uh no, kudos to the Mets. Well, you know what, It's got that feel of, you know, of a team that just wants it all of a sudden, and I don't know why, I don't know how, but you know, when when you're playing against a better team, you're supposed to beat him. That's how you get better, and that's how you move up the rankings. And you know, going against the Nats last night losing six to three and going into the bottom of the ninth and pulling out to win is huge. M h. And they're just a half a game out of the Wild Cards. So uh, like you said, I believe they do have the best record in baseball since the All Star breaks. So take that. Yeah, we're gonna get go to get a Subway series again. You guys are going down. Just when I thought I was out, they dragged me back in. It's gonna be uh hard to keep the Dodgers out of the World Series again. They're the best record percentage wise in baseball sevent and forty so. But but I digress. So we were talking a little Zeke Elliott before, and uh, the the only issue I have with Zeke is that I guess if I'm a if I'm a team, and I'm like the Cowboys, And yeah, you have to pay it just because he's such an important piece of that offense. But this guy just just continuously seems to put himself in in in bats situations, you know, So I guess that's the only scary port. Well it is. Yeah, his his decision making process hasn't always been great. I grant you that, um, and he's probably you know, one flood away from missing a good portion of the season. Uh, there's always that, And I'm a little learier those kind of guys in dynasty leagues. But in the re draft league, you take that shot, you run with it. Uh, couldn't blow up in your face. Absolutely, But again, it could happen with any player out there in the dynasty league if you could work out of a favorable deal, you know, once he signs and plays, of course, because you're not gonna be a trade of now. But is that a thought in the back of your head if you're playing in the dynasty league, like, you know, I might as well get out while I can. You know I did that with with all those kinds of players that have off field issues. I don't really like having them in dynasty again, because they're one or two floods away from missing either a full season or possibly more. You know, I feel that way about Levia Bell, you know about Zeke and a few other players that fall under that. Yeah, for Nette is definitely another one with him. You have the two eyes injuries, injury and idiocy. Um so I absolutely agree with you. They're very good. Um uh so yeah, there's definitely places like that that I try to stay away from in Dynasty because I do want those guys that are gonna be be more team oriented and you know, gonna be steady players. You don't really have to worry about suspensions, you know, on on as big a basis as you do with some players, and I do try to stay away from them. There you go, there you go. Uh. You know, we'll talk about Melvin Gordon in a second, because we spoke about Elliott and Gordon obviously the other uh you know, prime time player who's who's involved in a holdout? And I'm interested to get your take on that. But since we're talking about troubled players and whatnot, uh we we did talk about the Browns briefly, but uh Antonio callaway, uh for games to spend. This guy has been in and out of trouble for a long time, you know, a lot. Only that now he's dealing with the high echo spring. Yeah yeah, so uh you know, so, so talk to me about Well, first of all, he wasn't really gonna be This is a weird story because you know, he comes into camp out of shape. Uh. You know, I got a big playability, Like I said, you know, problems dating back all the way to uh to college. So you know, talk about the effect on the Browns. I mean, who could step up here? Ah, the guy who's already been making a splash and a guy that's shoone splashes in recent years and other teams, and that's Chard Higgins. Uh he's by all, he's been having a great camp anyway. Uh you know, and he's really involved in that passing game, had a good preseason game, and you know they're ready to roll with him. Callawood had a lot of issues last year. And I'm not talking off the field issues. He had concentration issues that led to a lot of drop balls, Uh, wrong routes, run, not being able to read the defense. There were a lot of them. Now, he did come into camp out of shape and had a bad start to the camp, but then he seemed to turn it around. He was playing a little better. And then of course comes out and they must have probably known about it by then that he was going to be suspended, because the teams do know before we get to hear it, and so they knew that was happening. He started playing with the second and the third teams basically because, uh, they knew he was going to sit out the first four weeks anyway. And now he's dealing with high ankle sprain, which could be the ultra high ankle sprain, which could mean he could even miss more than those first four weeks. So it's very possible Higgins as a guy now that's going to step right into that role. My problem with that is if you know, you got O b J on one side, you got Landry and the other, and you got Chubb, who they're saying is going to get more involved in the passing game. If all of that comes to fruition and they all stay healthy, I just don't see a lot being left over for Higgins. M hmm. Okay, that's a good point, all right. So what do we give back to, uh, Belvan Gordon. So you were kind of intimating that, um, this could be a little different than the whole Ezekiel Elliott situation. This absolutely could. Gordon seems to want to stick and seals in the mud and he's gonna fight for every inch he wants to get paid more than ten million that they've already offered him. But you know, the charges they don't bend on things like this. They're not gonna bend. They made him an offer that they think is a fair offer that really gets them up to there in level of pay. And you know, talking about a guy who's had knee issues ever since college. Uh, and it you know, it's shown up pretty much every year where he misses a couple of games because of it. He's got a lot of wear and tear on his tires. And I just don't think they want to pay more than that. I'm pretty sure they're not going to. So it really comes down to whether or not Gordon is gonna bend and come back in or sit out. Now. He swears he's not gonna bend. He swears he's gonna sit out if he has to. And look, I'm sure if he's been smart with his money, he should have more than enough money not to have to worry about it if he doesn't want to. So it's very possible here that these two stubborn sides don't come to an agreement here. I think the Chargers are fine rolling along with the Austin Ekeler and Justin Jackinson. I think they can win. They think they can win with those guys if they have to. And I think this is just you know, everybody keeps saying that the trend over the last couple of years is rbs don't matter, rbs don't matter. Well, what I think the trend really is is that rbs won't get paid that second that next big contract. I think teams are gonna bring in the rookies, run him for four or five years, depending on what round they get taken. Of course, if they playing get picked in the first round, they get that optional fifth year, they're gonna run into death over those years, and then they're gonna let him walk and start the whole process again. Unless those guys ultra studs with no it, no history and injury histories or anything like that. Anybody else, I think it's just gonna become canton cannon fodder. You play those games, you know, take as much out of him can you move them on the next young guy. You do the same thing, just so you don't have to pay that next big contract to running backs when you can use that money to solidify other positions. So I think this is gonna be the growing trend. Unless you're a super stud, you're gonna get your first four years in with the original team, and then you're gonna be fighting free agency to get that next contract. Yeah. What do you think about the fact that Gordon was was asked to be traded? You think that there's any chance that the the charges would I mean, we were talking last week, uh Bluid and Kurts and I about the possibility of Gordon having been traded to the Texans, But obviously now with Duke Johnson, I don't think that's gonna be happening. But you think that the charges would entertain getting something back for Gordon? I think they weren't entertainment. I'm just not sure anybody's gonna offer it because not only does another team have to offer what it takes just to get Gordon, then they got a pony up another big contract because he's still gonna want to sign at twelve or thirteen million dollar contract a year, and again, he has knee injury injuries, He's got a lot of wear and tear. I'm just not sure other teams are gonna want to pay that much for an aging veteran, no matter how good he is, right, Yeah, So you're right, you're gonna need to find a team that has a lot of cap space, and the Texans did have some some cap space, but you know that that could all change with one drastic injury in training camp in preseason. You know, if a team loses their starter, or you know, if Zeke just says, you know what I'm done and you know it has to go, then that could your Dames. Maybe somebody ponies up at that point. But as it stands right now, I can't see anybody wanting to make a trade for him. Kay, So, so how do you think this ends up? Do you think do you think that this hold out John? Yeah, I think there's a very good chance that he could hold out uh well into this season, and for that reason alone, I've been definitely staying away from him. All Right. Um, since we're talking running backs, and we kind of tease this in the past, why don't we take a look at some of the couple of the rookies. Let'll start with the uh let's go to Buffalo, Let's shuffle off to Buffalo and UH talk a little the Devin singletary. So, yeah, the the Bill's backfield. Uh, you have a T. J. Yelden, uh, Lashawn McCoy, Frank Gore, and Devin Singletary. So you know, t J. Yelden, I find when you look at his stats that uh, he plays well in spurts, but given the you know, I you know, given the opportunity to get a lot of categories, his per carry average drops of course. Uh. You know, Frank Gore is the just wonder right Uh. And Lashaw McCoy seems like I think it's fair to say that he's at the tail end of his career. Uh. So you know, I'm thinking that, you know, kind of like uh, Devon Singletary, we could get him later in drafts, and this guy that could emerged by the end of the season as a guy who could be the number one cog in this backfield. Like I like Singletary absolutely. The problem with Singletary and and you know, getting that late round value from him is that that's also where Lashaw McCoy is gone. McCoy is lasting on draft boards until the elevens in twelfth round because people just aren't buying in after the bad season he had last year. So Devin Singletary absolutely. His future is key on what happens with McCoy. Now, there's a lot of people out there that speculate McCoy won't be with Buffalo to start this season, and it's you know, it could very well be that. Uh. They do like Singletary. He's shown that I think he could do the job, especially when you have somebody like Frank Gore there who can absolutely pick up whatever pieces you need him to. He's still that good running back even at thirty six. He showed last year that he can still run in this league and run it quite well. He's not a fantasy asset at this point, but the fact of the matter is for NFL purposes, he does a fine job and he's a great backup to have just the mentorship alone, the leadership he brings, all of that stuff is a very big positive, especially to a young team like Buffalo. So you know that's there yet. T J. Eldon hasn't had a great camp, didn't have great O t s. There's a very good chance he doesn't make this roster, even though I like him. So I think he's gonna end up finding a spot somewhere. I'm just not sure it's gonna be a Buffalo. I do like Singletary. If he doesn't start the year as the season as a starter, I think there's a chance at some point in the season that he ends up taking that job. And because I do think he's explosive, he gives you a little bit of everything you need him to do, and I think he does it well. So I have grabbed a lot of shares of Singletary, and as a matter of fact, and one draft I did last night, I actually took Singletary I had of McCoy. So you know, that's that's tell you right there. It's about, you know, putting your mouth my money where your mouth is and doing what you say. And you know, I try to tell people out all the time. I tell you what what guys I like, and um, when I get into a draft, I'm for the most part, I'm taking the guys that I tell you I'm gonna take, and I try to stand true to my word that way. M So, who do you think has a better chance of being on the team Week one? It sounds like you think that McCoy has a better shot of being on that roster. I don't want to put words in your mouth, but uh, you know it's t J. Yelden and Lashaw McCoy. Do you think there's a chance that both of them on that starting roster or who do you think has a better chance of of getting cut before the season starts? Well, I think Yelden has a better chance of getting cut. I I don't think Buffalo cuts McCoy if they can make a deal and get something out of him. At this point, I think they take that route, even if it's a fifth round pick. I think they jump at it at this point. Uh, they should have done it last year at the trading deadline, but of course they didn't. He's still in our plans. I'm just not sure that really, you know, stands now after they went out and picked up three running backs in the off season. Yeah, I'm a little piste off at Shan mccleuch because, and you know what, I don't remember wish anything bad on on someone, but I hope he gets cut because he ruined the end of the fenders and game for me. Well, don't even talk about seen it yet, all right, Well, then, uh stay away from Uh you know, I don't even follow Leshaw McCoy, but I guess someone retweeted something that he said about the movie and it kind of spoke, well, I didn't see it, so I don't want to hear alright, alright, alright, are you you're a Marvel movie guy? Do you like those movies? Yeah? I love their movies. I love those movies absolutely. Anything that you know gets me away from reality for an hour and after two hours is great. Buy me makes sense why you're a fantasy analyst. No, yeah, absolutely away from reality. But okay, yeah, so we're in We're in agreement about Devin Singletary. So also we're talking. We'll talk about it. On the other side, is uh the fantasy impact of David Montgomery Bears running back, so that you know, obviously Tariko and still there, Jordan Howard gone. Uh, Mike Davis still with the Bears. Not still with the Bears, but they signed them in the in the off season. So uh, I want to get your take on David Montgomery. Banks Line Sports were good here network. I like Joan. I love Joan tef To. I mean literally, I would divorce my wife for Joan j I think she's she's still touring, which is great. Yeah, she's been touring for years. Yeah, and uh, I think she's Uh, I gotta find out. I don't know if it already passed, but I know she's been at the uh the local Staten alland St. George Theater. It's one of these old theater. Is really nice place to see. I've actually been there. Yeah. Yeah, you like it right, Yeah, music, absolutely, the acoustics and that all are outstanding. Yes, and you'd be surprised with some of the acts that they get. You know, they come by there. I don't know Brian Wilson at one point then, uh, Pat Benatar, you like Pat Benatar from back in the day. I Patar. My wife and I have seen her at least five or six times. Yeah, yeah, again, I'm not sure if that just passed or whatnot, or it's coming up real soon, but I think she'll be playing the St. George Theater in Staten Island. So all right, So there you go. So Thatt Island is a nice it's a nice place, but it holds you for ransom and you gotta pay to get on and off. Oh my god, I think if you don't have if you're not a resident using easy Pass, like me as a Staten Island resident to cross over the Verrizano Bridge, I believe it's a little less than six bucks. And I say I believe, Yeah, Yeah, I say I believe because you know, with this, with this easy pass and you attach a credit card to it, you kind of you never look at it, you know. Yeah. Actually at one point, I the one time I did look, they were they were over charging me. So they gave me like two years back of what they had overcharged people. Whatnot. Nice if you're a nonresident and crossing over that bridge, I think it's up to nineteen dollars now, yeah, something like that. Crazy, And I like it not that Jersey exactly exactly. Yeah. Yeah, even coming in from New Jersey, it's I don't think it's nineteen bucks, but it's it's pretty high up there. So the cost living in this great metropolitan area we live in real crazy. So um, alright, well let's get back to uh the reality that is fantasy. And I had teased a little bit of uh, the Chicago Bears backfield. We've been talking to some some running backs of late so uh David Montgomery, uh picked up by the uh the Bears the season Bears actually traded up to to get David Montgomery. So I'm looking at their their depth chart, Jim Day, Mike Davis, uh, David Montgomery. Of course, then you have Tarik Cohen dynamic back. How do they think this all shakes out? And and you know that what do we do with Mike Davis in terms of is this another situation that you think that maybe by season's end, David Montgomery might be like the de facto number one guy here. I mean, I can't see you free Cohen going anywhere. I mean of the you know, the dynamic part of his game, uh is a big part of Bears offense. No, Terry Cohen isn't going anywhere. He may see a slight downtick in touches, but he's not going anywhere. He's a big plague guy. They know it. It fits into what they want to do. He's not going anywhere. Mike Davis gives them good depth, but he really is gonna need Montgomery getting hurt to get on the field for anything significant, any kind of significant playing time. They brought him over because they knew that they were getting rid of Howard and just in case they couldn't get the back they wanted in the draft. That excuse me, folks, that they would have somebody that could fill that role. And you know he could. He showed us last year that he's got the chops to be a guy who could play the early down role. He can catch passes, he could do a little bit of everything that way, and he's good. So they put him over for depth. They got the guy they wanted in Montgomery, and right now, to me, David Montgomery is my top pick to be the offensive rookie of the year. I think this kid is gonna take the number one job retraining to get go uh in week one and go with it. He does everything. He can catch the ball, he can run inside, he can run outside, he can pick up the blitz when needed. You know, he does it all. Uh So I absolutely agree think that this guy. I like him over Josh Jacobs. I would take him before I would take Josh Jacobs just because I still have a little bit of concern with Josh Jacobs. I don't have any concern with David Montgomery. Every time he touches the ball, every time he touches the field, he proves that if you go and look at any of his plays, look at any clips you can find out there. The man is just a beast. He's going to become a great running back in the NFL, and I think he's gonna be the rookie the year. Yeah. I'm looking at his a DP based on that and at the typical twelfth team league. Get him in the fourth, fifth round. I think that's fair value for him. You think he's gonna I'll play that before seasons in. I think he should be picked in the second round. Uh. To be honest, I think he has that kind of value, So getting him in the fourth or fifth I think his outstanding value. Um, I'm gonna float this one one thought process at you. Um. When I look at the when I look at the running backs that are currently going in the second round and even in the third early third round, each and every one of them has a major concern. Uh. Let's see. We'll start with David Cook. Um hasn't stayed on the field long enough to be a factor yet in two seasons. Todd Gurley, Well, we got to knee. I still believe in him, but there's a chance that I could be wrong. I was wrong once, it could be the second time. I don't know. Um. Yeah, Nick Chubb. Look, I love Nick Chubb, and in the first half of the year, I really love him. But when Hunt comes back, there's a good chance they take a lot off of Chubb's plate just to keep them healthy for the playoff run they envisioned they're gonna yeah, right, And they really don't have anything more invested in Hunt than this season, and they could easily have him running a number of plays, just put a showcase on so they can try and trade him and get something back for him. That's good, So definitely a concern there. Melvin Gordon's still in that range and right now he's absolutely concerned. Damian Williams, we talked about it a little bit earlier. Is he's never done it over a full sixteen game season. Heck, he's never done it for more than five games. Will he stand up? We just don't know. Carry On Johnson had some injuries last year. Leonard four Nette has had injuries every year. Aaron Jones had some injuries last year. Plus is he really going to be the number one? There's a lot of people out there to think Dexter Williams is gonna take that role. I'm not one of them, but there are people that think, um so that puts out in. Marlon mac had injuries last year. Derrick Henry. Will they use him like they did at the end of the season or will they use him like they did at the beginning of the season. We just don't know. Yeah right now, boots off, um, Devonte Freeman, uh coming off. I'm almost fully missed year because of injuries. All of these guys in that range are now. But I can consider the quicksand of running backs. Um sure they look nice on paper for their names are good. You know, there's some stats the point that these guys could be good running backs, but every single one of them has issues. So it's gotten to be to the point where I'm looking at that second early town third round and I'm linking, you know what, I want to stud running back in round one, and then I want to come back and get two wide receivers in two and three and get away from all that quicksand right right and this even quick, great, great analysis, Jim, there's even question marks in the in the first round two. I mean, if you really want to uh to talk, I mean, Levan Bell took a year off, how is it going to affect him? Now? Say the truth. I've been warming up to Levan Bell from what I understand. He came into camp and tremendous shape. But you know, I mean, you also have a head coach who I'm sure he's going to use them the right way, but I didn't want him. Uh. You know, uh, Joe Mixon, who's us in the in the beginning of the second round. He's got issues with his offensive line. Now I happen to love Joe Mixon, but you have you have to take that offensive line into consideration younger. They just lost another guy. Yeah, that that that that offensive line is definitely becoming a concern for me because they've definitely had some issues there, so to be interesting to see how it plays out. And losing Jonah Williams, the rookie that they had for the year, is absolutely gonna hurt them. That would have been a great addition to that offensive line. So without him there, I mean, they have to go back to Corty Glenn and he's okay, but he's definitely nothing that stands out right, right, Yeah, So so you're right that. I mean, there's just a lot of question walks up and down in terms of you know, these running backs to be one of the safest. You know, no one even talks about it, I mean anymore because he's almost like an automatic. It's Christian McCaffrey, you know, especially if ppor leagues. Obviously we know what he could do. But uh, I mean, do you even hear anyone mentioned his name. There's a lot of people back there to think he should be the number one. So yeah, there's some people naming that way, But meanwhile the team is saying, well, we're gonna we're gonna take his touches down. Uh, you know, his his snaps down. They say they're not going to take away his you know, his plays, They're just gonna limit his snaps. Uh. So you know, take it for what it's worth. But you know, Coach Speaker early on could be you know, it looks again, it really comes down to it's a smart move NFL wise, if you have such a great running back, you want to keep them healthier for longer periods of time, for longer, you know, more years than you would worry about. So you do want to give him some some breaks here and there. You want to bring somebody else to you know, not put so much pressure on his plate right from the get go. No reason a rookie running back or even you know, a young running back should be looking at almost four hundred touches each year. Right, what do you stay with James Conner? Like I'm I'm overcoun to Look, his numbers last year before the injury were better than Levian Bell's. In any year that Bell was with Pittsburgh. His numbers were better across the board, Every part of his game was better than Levian Bell's was. And look, I agree levianbo is a good running back. But I have concerns about Bell and I'll get to that in a second. But you know, James Conner, everybody bought into it when he said, oh, yeah, no, we got a lot of good backs on the team, and everybody's gonna play their role, and you know, we're all gonna mix it up. And everybody said, oh my god, they're gonna have a committee. No, slow your role. Um, it's not gonna be a committee. Connor is still gonna be the main back. He's gonna do most of the work. They'll get Jimen Samuel's involved, but the way they'll get him involved is in the passings game. They'll get him involved. They'll move him into the slot, they'll even move him outside at some point. This is a kid that can catch the ball no matter where you place him, and he's a playmaker that way. So they'll get him involved in that. But they're not gonna do it at the expense of James Connor. As long Connor hay on field, he's gonna be there, Bell cow back, the guy that they go to. I'm not worried about what Samuel does him. I'm definitely not worried about Benny Snell at this point. Uh that some people, Oh Benny Snell is there now, he's a great rotting back. He's gonna take over. He's not taking over. He's not taking over. James Conner is the guy. He's gonna be the guy as long as he's on the field. And I am not worried about it. And I am taking to James Connor over Levian Bell because of the system he is in. Look, Levian Bell is going to a team with an offensive line that isn't anywhere near as there's Pittsburgh's, although they have made a couple of play pick ups the last week, uh and including getting Ryan Khalil, which is a good pick up for them to improve that offensive line. But you have a couple of problems here. First, Levian Bell is a runner who likes to take his time to find the holes. He likes to work behind the offensive line until he finds that hole, he wants to go hit it. When you have a good offensive line, you can do that. When you don't have a good offensive line, you can't do that. By the time you try to make up your mind which hold the hit they're hitting you, um and so you need to be much more decisive behind the bad offensive line than you do a good offensive line. So that's number one. Number two is we're talking about. You know, the Jets were like twenty six in offense last year in touchdowns, scored all of that. You know who was worse Miami. You know who was the head coach in Miami, Adam Gaze. Who's the head coach of the Jets now, Adam Gaze. He ran the least amount of offensive plays in the league last year in Miami. I don't like taking your running back on a team that's gonna run so few plays that early inter draft. Wow, great stuff. Yeah, and I agree with you. You know in terms of you mentioned with Benny Snell, Benny Snows not take over at this at this backfield in Pittsburgh. As a matter of fact, that that talking about twenty six yards on thirteam carries. Uh last night two catches for twenty five yards. So I'm to tell you one game, but I could see him having a role just to you know, keep Connor, yeah, yeah, just to keep the con stretch small, right small small? Uh? Yeah, yeah. But I like your take on Levian Bell in terms of uh what you said about Adam Gayson, how you know how he runs his offenses so good stuff. I mean, he basically kept Kenyan Drake berry right unless this year, and that's what isn't no Kenyan Drake. I'm not gonna say that. I mean there were reasons, d you know, he had Gore doing what Gore does, and of course I get that, um, but you know, at the same time, I just can't invest that heavily in Bell in this offense. Yet. I could be wrong, and if I'm wrong on I'll own to it. I'm okay with that. But right now he's going some guys are taking him, you know, at the fifth, sixth pick, and that's just I can't do it in the second round. I'll consider it first round. I just can't. I prefer him lately. First round. But like I said, I'm warming up to him a little bit. But now you've got me thinking because you you brought up a very good point about his usage. So okay, So since we're talking a little Uh Steelers, Uh James Washington and UH had a nice game, he said, four catches, eighty four yards, touchdowns, nice uh leaping grab. Of course, we talked about Antonio Brown earlier, He's gone, Uh, Juju Smith Schuster obviously the number one guy there, Dante Moncrief, James Washington other than Juju Smith Schuster. And I'll ask you a side question about Smith Schuster. How do you think that he reacts to being the number one guy there in terms of, uh, you know, having to face the number one corners on posing teams? And how do you think that James Washington, another second year wide receiver, what do you expect that at him this season? Okay, I'll start with ju Juice Smith. Know there's people out there touting him as the number one wide receiver this year, and I'm not buying it. Um. I'm not saying he won't be a good one or even great one. I do think he has had in him. I love the fact that he's so down the earth and he interacts with fantasy people. I love that aspect. You know, everybody else is arriving into training camp and you know, hot air balloons and you know, uh, drinks trucks, and he comes in his nondescript car and walks in the side door with no fanfare. I love that kind of guy. Um, So I'm really into that It is going to be an issue to see whether he can stand up to the number one, But I think he will, and I think he'll do it more on sheer volume than anything else because he will become a vacuum for Ben Roethlisberger. Now, will Bend throw it, you know, sixty times again this year? That's the question. He threw it the most last year, then he's done in any other year in his career. And if that trend continues, an absolutely, Juju is going to be in the top five wide receive should be in that conversation um outside of ju Ju. I like Dante, I like mont Creef. I think mont Crief is just at this point in their careers, a better receiver than James Washington is. He's more knowledgeable, he understands the game better, He's got a little bit more seasoning, and I know he hasn't really knocked the sheets off it anywhere he's been and that includes working with Andrew Luck. So it's not like you could say, oh, he's finally got a good quarterback. He was with a good quarterback and really wasn't doing it, but that was when he was young. He's learned from them, and I just don't think James Washington is ready to step into that number two role yet, but I do think that he will make some splash plays, get some good things going. And we mentioned earlier in the show that is National Garage Sail Day. You know what else they're Jim, It's it's National Smores day. Are you a smores guy? I like, I like smores. I like chocolate that likes smores. There you go, there you go. Yeah, not like moors. You got Graham crackers, you got marshmallows, you got chocolate, you got fire. That's a great combination. It's it's un American not to like s'mores, right, It's just part of the us being a Dallas Cowboy fan. Yeah, exactly, exactly. So speaking about being American and non American, let's talk about the team that plays in our nation's capital, the Washington Redskins and Dwayne Haskins. Uh. I don't know, you know, what were your feelings about Haskins this preseason? Digit think that he had an opportunity to be the starter from from day one. I mean it's not you know, I mean afterward, you know, I was looking at his stats from his first preseason game. Looks like he's got some some work to do. Looks like he needs a get better at picking up the blitz. I mean he threw two picks. That's only one game, but eight for four hundred seventeen yards. Could have been the Giants quarterback there. But you gotta figure you know, who's he throwing the ball too. But what do you think about Dayne Haskins, And do you think it's gonna be at least a little while before we see him as the Redskins starting quarterback. I do think it's gonna be a little while. I don't think he starts Week one. They got a tough start to their schedule as well a couple of really tight defenses. Look, the whole knock about Haskins has been since day one is that you know, he could throw a nice ball, He's got good touch, he does all that well. But if you start getting pressure on him, if you start being around his feet, then he starts to lose his focus. He makes bad decisions, he hurries up and makes bad throws. And the fact of the matter is that right now their offensive line is in flux. Uh. They really needed to get Trent Williams back, and it doesn't look like it's gonna happen. He swearing now that he just will not play for them anymore. And they go from Trent Williams at left tackle to Eric Flowers, somebody we know well from the Giants, And as a Giants fan, I can't lick my chops enough for the for the Red Kids have. But Eric Flowers at left tackle. Now we get the beat on his ass and I love that. Um So yeah, I don't think we see him start right away. I absolutely I wouldn't be surprised if Colt McCoy is a starter for the first couple of games. Uh, you know, case Keenum is what he is. I just think they like Colpe McCoy a little bit better. So I wouldn't be surprised if he starts, But it could go the O either way. I don't want a piece of that that quarterback group at this point. Um yeah, I definitely have some issues with Haskins this year. I think he's gonna have a rough start to the season, maybe the whole season, just because of that aspect. I think too much, he's gonna be seen too much pressure, and I'm just not sure he's gonna be able to make that kind of adjustment in year one. Yeah, it's gonna be tough as well. Just like I said, I mean the offensive pieces around him. I mean, uh, do you like anybody in terms of fantasy from this team? I mean, Trey Quinn getting a lot of love, gonna be playing out of the slot, you know, I could see baby taking a flyer on him late Paul Richardson. It makes some acrobatic catches highlight reel. But yeah, right, uh, you know, Terry McLaren getting a little, uh a little love here there, Josh Stockson basically first round bust in the Jordan. How many games is he gonna play? I mean, uh yeah, I mean not really much to work with you, Okay, a couple of things. I do like Trey Quinn because he's been the only wide receiver that's pretty much solidified his position. He's gonna be the slot receiver. I expect him to get a lot of work with these quarterbacks just because there's a lot of unknowns on the outside. U. I'm not worried about Doxon, I'm not worried about Richardson. Neither one has shown any tendency to do anything. Uh so I do. I have taken a few flyers on Trey Quinn later and I've also taken some flyers on Terry McLaren um and because uh the reason I take the shots on him is because he knows Haskins. They played together, and I think once Haskins does step on the field, that's gonna become huge for him because he's if he's running for his life, he's gonna want to go to the guy he feels comfortable throwing too, and that's gonna be the guy he's been thrown to for a while, and that's McLaren. So I do I have taken some shots on him as well, just for that aspect alone. Excuse me, I'm sorry. And then the last one, I'm gonna take a chance on his Adrian Peterson, get him late enough. You know, guys, seems to be healthy right now, but all the setbacks he had with the leg and the fact that once he got into camp it flared up again. You know, he seems to be okay now, but for how long? And you know, it still impresses me to this day that Adrian Peterson, behind that rag tag group of offensive linemen, working with the fourth string quarterback, with no starting wide receivers on the field, uh tight ends that were totally ineffectual, the man still put up a thousand yards at age thirty four. That was to me one of the most impressive feats of the entire year, maybe only behind Pat Mahomes. And what he did. I mean, you can't this is a guy that you know was a stud in his day, but the year before it averaged what two point two yards per carry, And all of a sudden, he stepped it into this team that's falling apart everywhere else and gets a thousand yards. I think that's huge. Yeah, great point. Not only that, but he's motivated. I mean he's got some some some issues, some some financial issues. Yeah, he's playing for his page he needs. Yeah, no, no, I'm half joking about it. But the guy is supposedly I mean, I'm sure he's made millions over his career, millions of millions, but unfortunately, uh, he's seving some money issues. So I mean he's playing. Just because you made millions doesn't mean you can keep millions, right, right, right? Absolutely? I mean you just wait. I equate this, and I'm sorry I had to cut you off. I equate this lottery. You know how many lottery winners are busted broke within a couple of years of having more a million dollar or more lottery. It's almost like seventy nine percent of them. Think about that. People out have won over a million dollars are almost eighty percent sure to be dead broke in two to three years, So why not equate that to young football players? You know, they're all of a sudden getting paid this huge money, most of them, and I have to say it, and I'm not saying this about Peterson because I don't know, but most of them may not be the most intelligent people on the earth, and they were lying on other people that are basically leeches, you know, like, oh, you got your favorite starden giving you yeah, right, your favorite uncles all of a sudden giving you great business advice, and you go on to lose half your money. So you know, there's just a lot of that going on. And I think the this is one of the ways that the NFL is truly lacking, is teaching these young guys how to handle this son and in rush of money they should have. They should do a much better job of, you know, getting them in line on how to handle that, showing them ways, giving them guys that you know, can give them that input. I think that's one of the areas where they're solely lacking. Look, I think of it this way. If I had ever gone on to play professional football and all of a sudden, I'm making million dollars, I would have been a freaking lunatic. I guarantee any off day, I would have been out there party. In my ads, I'm surrounded by women all kinds of you know, booze and having a good old time all the time. Uh. So, you know, if I could do it, I'm sure there's plenty of others can can do it. And if you're doing it, there's a good chance you can lose a lot of that money, right right, great point, great point. Uh yeah, I mean easy come, easy go right. Yeah. Really, you know a lot of times you don't even realize it's going until it's god m m, absolutely all right. So basically I think we were exhausted. Uh Redskins fantasy talk. I mean, Jordan Reed, uh just can't stay on the field. It just you know, while he was healthy all last year, they just didn't use it much and for summer and he's got some kind of resurgence in fantasy because all of a sudden, I've seen people start to draft him again. I'm not sure if I'm willing to take that shot on him. Uh, too many times burned in the past. We'll definitely not as a Titan one. No. Um. Yeah, And he played, he was played thirteen games started eight last season. Hifty four catches, five fifty eight yards. No, nothing terrible, but nothing that stands out there, right. I seen him stand out in the past. He's been one of those guys that could be a top five tight end, but just too many years burned now that I just can't invest in him at this point. Yes, I'm with you. I'm with you. Um talk about a guy who's kind of burned a lot of fantasy uh players and will switch us a little bit. Josh Gordon, Josh Gordon, Uh, you stick around late enough in some drafts, you know, he he gets taken basically eighteenth round. And so I mean you hear like whispers that the Patriots think that maybe there's a chance that he gets reinstate. I think he actually filed for reinstatement. He did, He absolutely did. M hm. So you want my thoughts on Josh Gordon? Is that what you're saying? Is that what you're saying, Joe, I keep going and I'm sorry, yeah, yeah, Well now I talked to George every day Monday through Friday, so it's kind of stuck right right. Uh So, uh here, I'm gonna start off with with these fun facts about Josh Gordon in and unfortunately this didn't These aren't coming for me. This is These are all coming from the great Evan silva Um formerly a road a world who you know is one of the guys I listened to a lot. So if you're not, you really should be. But these are numbers that came by from him. Yeah. Absolutely does a great job. And now he has a new state that just killing it, I believe, um. So here it is. He led the Patriots and yards per target with ten point six last year. He led the Patriots in yards per catch in eighteen point oh. He was fourteenth out of nineties six eligible wide receivers, in yards per ru run which was two point one five seventh out of a hundred and twenty five wide receivers, and in yards after catch per reception which was six point seven, and Brady average one point eight more yards per attempt and three point five more fantasy points per game in games where Gordon played. Absolutely new England wants Gordon back on the field. Mm hmmm. Wow, So let me ask you this. You know, so he files for reinstatement. Basically he didn't get suspended last year, right, No, No, he didn't get suspended. They I think they all came to the agreement that he just needed more work, and he, you know, went to take care of that. And you know, you can say a lot about the NFL, and I do. I gripe about him all the time, but they've actually done a goo good job with him trying to get him the right you know, people to work with in New England has done that as well. Uh, So he has people in his corner. Hopefully he can get past it. But you know, he's going through so much grief because he likes to smoke marijuana. You know what, so many people on this earth, in this country loved the smoke marijuana. It's healthy for him. It's a lot more healthy for players than it is taking all these other drugs, with all these mistic you know, my mystical uh supposed powers that have all his junk inside them. You know, it's a lot more healthy for the body. So hopefully the NFL gets over this because it should be. Yeah, I think they're close. I think they're close, especially with it becoming legal in so many more parts of the country every year. So I think they're gonna have to and I hope we get to that point because at that point, Josh Gordon is good to go, um, and we don't have to worry about this crap anymore because when he's on the field, we know he's a great wide receive, He's got all the tools, he can go up and get the ball with anybody, he can fly down the field, he runs good routes, he's got good hands, and when he's been on the field, he's produced. And as you saw last year as he played more with Tom Brady, tom Brady absolutely felt confident in being able to throw the ball out there and letting him go forget it. And right now they're struggling to kill Harry, who's their rookie, has been bad in camp, hasn't had a good camp, and now he's dealing with an injury, so that's hurting him. Um. You know, they keep talking about, you know, Maurice Harris that they brought over in the offseason, having a good camp and being a guy. And you know, you can like Maurice Harris, but I can't think of him in that role. The guy who's been talked about so much lately, UM is the uh man. His name just went out of my head. The other rookie, Jacoby Myers, who you know, had a great precincson game. Again, everybody's talking about him. Uh yeah, right, everybody's talking about him. And look, this kid could make a name for himself. But if Gordon is on that field, Gordon and Edelman or the two guys I want because they'll be the most consistent producers and I'm looking forward to it. I've taken quite a few shots on Gordon very late in drafts on the what if factor, And if I do that all the time, and if it burns me again, it burns me again, I'll live with it. If he doesn't get reinstated, then he becomes waiver wire fodder and I pick up somebody else. It's not like you have to invest any draft capital to get him. Right with the what did he uh? The way that the NFL handles their their players, you know, punishments and suspensions and whatnot, who knows? I mean basically, I mean, does he does he get like credit for time served based on the mutual agreement from both sides that he needed to take time away from the NFL? Does he does he get well, I'm sure he had a strict he had a strict regiment of things he had to follow, you know, he had meet people, things like that, all of that stuff. As long as he's done all that, del reinstate him right right, Okay, all right, So it's been fun. We're working with you for these past three hours talking to fannessy uh Jim Day on the Fantasy Sports Radio Network. On the other side, we'll be talking some some gambling a weekend wagers that we got George Kurtzon Camps do it on assignment. So you've got myself and Jim Day. Thank you to uh Sewan Angle doing a great job to do this in this show. We'll see on the other side, I'm gonna go get my advisor and cigar. They go
