Desperate for a new series to binge-watch or heading to the cinema for date-night? Gayle Edmunds shares her top picks of things to watch on the big and small screen with CapeTalk’s Sara-Jayne Makwala King on Weekend Breakfast.

This week we’re watching: East of Eden on Netflix

Cast:  Florence Pugh, Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist[Text Wrapping Break]Plot:

Set in California's Salinas Valley, the epic story follows the interconnected Trask and Hamilton families across multiple generations, mirroring the biblical tale of Cain and Abel. Adam Trask tries to build an idyllic life with his malicious wife, Cathy, but she shoots him and runs away to manage a brothel shortly after giving birth to their twin sons. The twins, Cal and Aron, grow up to repeat their father's sibling rivalry, with the dark-natured Cal desperately craving Adam's love while the pure-hearted Aron is favored. After Cal exposes the truth about their mother to Aron, driving Aron to join World War I where he dies, a dying Adam ultimately forgives Cal by invoking the concept of timshel—affirming that humans have the free will to choose good over evil.
