Dr Sindiwe Magona, is an award-winning author, storyteller, motivational speaker, actor, Xhosa teacher and translator. Dr. Magona has worked for the UN, retired, returned to SA. She has since written over 100 children’s books, stage plays, books of short stories. Dr Magona was awarded the Order of iKhamanga; holds four Honorary Doctorates and, in 2022, graduated with a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of the Western Cape. She was recently honored by Amazwi South African Museum of Literature to celebrate her 80th Birthday in Tsolo, Gungululu. She speaks today on the importance of literacy and inspiring children’s ability to dream via storytelling.
