Gresh & Keefe- Jonathan Owens a colon cancer patient at Dana-Farber, joins the show with his wife, Nicole and Dr. Marios Giannakis

View descriptionShare

At age 50, Jonathan's wife Nicole was giving him a hug when she felt lumps in his neck. That night he had a stomach ache but they never connected the two things.
Shortly after that, he had excruciating stomach pain. He went to the emergency room
and test showed a tumor in his colon the size of a grapefruit. He was diagnosed with
stage 4 colon cancer.

Since then he's lived with the disease. He underwent chemotherapy and then surgery. He still undergoes cycles of chemotherapy followed by breaks, and then more rounds of treatment.

Marios is a medical oncologist focusing on gastrointestinal cancers. He conducts
research to understand the molecular mechanisms of colorectal cancer formation and develop novel targeted and immune-based treatments for gastrointestinal cancers
