In 1981, an era of Minnesota sports came to a close when the Vikings wrapped up their season at Met Stadium. WCCO brought you the final game at "The Met" after 25 years as the home of the Vikings and Twins before moving to the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome. The Met was eventually torn down and the Mall of America built on the site.

Today marks 23 years since one of the most consequential and horrific days of the last century as WCCO looks back on 100 moments in 100 years. On September 11th, 2001, terrorists struck the U.S. and it's a day we'll never forget. Here's what it sounded like on WCCO Radio.

It's one of the worst - and most expensive - floods in the area's history. In 1997, the Red River along the Minnesota-North Dakota border broke through walls of sandbags and practically destroyed Grand Forks. WCCO was there for all of it, part of our 100 memorable moments in 100 years.

In 2002, just 10 days prior to the Election, Minnesota DFL Senator Paul Wellstone, his Sheila, daughter Marcia, and four others were killed in a plane crash in northern Minnesota. WCCO brought Minnesotans another tragic, memorable day in the 100 year history of the station.
