There is more than 95 million square feet of our city's office space unoccupied. To put that in perspective that's equivalent to 30 Empire State buildings. Remote work has taken root. And as tenants shrink their office footprint, property owners face some tough choices.

According to new data from the Department of City Planning, the owners of 64 office buildings are now interested in converting their properties into housing. The city planning director has set up a special unit to serve as a one-stop shop to help building owners navigate the complicated rules and building codes.

In our city, we have seen the success of the conversion of office space to residential. I quickly think of the all financial district in downtown Manhattan. That is much more of a vibrant 24/7 neighborhood. It's happening again, on a larger scale, throughout the city.

SA: They learned about lighting, sound effects, smoke and fog, mechanical props, and the orchestra. They met Jennafer Newberry, a standby for Glenda. She once had big dreams

JN: I grew up signing and dancing. I just always loved performing 

SA: Elphaba's standby Lissa Deguzman 

LD: It's good to bridge the gap between them and us and know that we're just humans and it's possible to do this and it's amazing to do this and you can fulfil your dreams just like we did 

SA: 11-year-old Caitlyn Apante's favorite part

CA: Probably the Popular song
