City nowhere close to promised number of new bike and bus lanes

Willets Point, a corner of Queens has long been known for its cluster of autobody repair shops and junkyards, is about to see a major transformation. 

Last Thursday, the City Council approved the final phase of redevelopment plan that bring 2,500 units of housing, 150,000 square feet of public space, 20,000 square feet of retail, and the city's first soccer specific stadium that will be privately financed by the New York City Football Club.

The 25,000 seat stadium should be ready by the 2027 season and forms the city's premiere sports hub with neighboring Citi Field and the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. 

A project that is expected to bring over 6 billion dollars in economic impact over the next 30 years, creating over 14,000 construction jobs, and over 1,500 permanent jobs. 

A big step forward for our city.
