A key ingredient to any successful city and its continued economic growth is a keen focus on quality of life issues. and availability of housing is a vital part of that equation.

A recent editorial report in Crain's New York indicated that the city is in desperate need of 560,000 new homes by 2030, to keep pace with expected job growth.

Unfortunately on this front, the state legislature has been stuck in debate instead of giving the city the greenlight to go forward with new tools to deal with the growing housing crisis. 

Albany can start by reviving housing incentive programs. Governor Hochul has put forward a proposal called 485x to fill the gaping hole of affordable housing opportunities.

Time of the essence, and the failure to quickly deal with the paralysis will have a devastating impact on the continued growth of our city.
