Weather Park & "Chey," Children of Ol' Dirty Bastard & Method Man, Talk Family Legacy Season 2

Dawn Robinson From En Vogue Speaks Out On Homelessness Rumors, Lucy Pearl Drama, En Vogue Secrets

You are now Angelo what I call her? Ye?

Hey, what's up this way? Up at Angela gyee?

And Happy Tuesday and what an exciting day it is for us. We have some special guests joining us today. We have from season two, episode one of Family Legacy, Shy who has met the man's daughter, and weather Park, who is old Dirty Bastard's son, and you know, they have the Wu tang Is for the children episode that's actually out today, so we'll be talking to them. Plus Don Robinson is going to be joining us. You know her from the legendary group in Vogue.

Most recently she went viral because she was.

In her car and chose car life and there was a lot of people talking about what it is that she has going on. She released a statement, but we actually had a full conversation with her about what's been going on in her life, what it's been like doing this whole car life thing, the documentary that she's working on. It's been three years that she's been living in her car. You know her from Lucy Pearl, you know her from in Vogue. You know groups that I'm a huge, huge, huge fan of to this day. All right, But in the meantime, Let's start the show with some love and some positivity. Let's shine a light eight hundred and two ninety two fifty one fifty callus up, Let us know who you would like to shine a light on? Its way up, sham.

Turn your lights on, y'all, spreading love to those who are doing greatness.

Hina, light on, shine the light on. It's time to shine a light on.

All right, his way up with Angela yee, and it's time to shine a light. I'm a shiner. Light on somebody today today. I do want to shine a light on Will Packer. Now, as you know, he has already been added to ownership of the Atlanta Hawks. He's part of that team as a part of new limited partners of I mean not sorry, the NFL's Atlanta Falcons. I said the wrong thing, the NFL's Atlanta Falcons. And then in addition to that, just as a movie producer and director, he has grows more than one billion dollars worldwide at the box office, which is such a big deal.

And he has a New.

York Times bestseller that's out right now, who better than you all write the Art of healthy arrogance? You guys got to make sure you pick up that book, but shout out to him for all that he's done and accomplished, just thinking about he went to fam you, he went to an HBCU and also just genuinely a nice person. So will Packard today we shine a light on you. Now I'll find thou. Who do you want to shine a light on?

I want to shine a line up to everybody who is protecting their energy from emotional vampires and energy vampires. People that's just been negative for so long. The effect the energy from you to feel themselves. You could be friends, it could be family members. But I will let you know, keep on fighting, keep on protecting your energy.

Yeah, that's good advice. So everybody out there, we all got to fight going on. Make sure you protect your energy. We can't control what other people do, but we can't control ourselves, right.

That part, that part.

Appreciate you and I want you to have a break.

Dare all right, Thank you you as well. We appreciate that good word. That was Hina light eight hundred and two nine two fifty one fifty. If you couldn't get through, you could leave a message in China light that way. And when we come back, let's do your y e t and Redman. People are thinking that Redman has beef of metha man, there's some issues there. Will tell you what he had to say, and I'm gonna tell you how I interpreted it. It's way up, they says, soothing the rooms from industry shade to all.

Of gossips out send Angela's spelling that.

Yet it's way up with Angela yee and it's time to get into your y e t. So first, I'm breaking news, oh Man. Garsa Bovet has announced that she is leaving Real Housewives of Beverly Hill. She was on the show for five years and this is the reason why.

One of the reasons why I'm leaving is my family, my boys there. Last year of high school is next year, and I want to be a part of that. And Jade is starting a new career and I want to be a part of that too. And secondly, I have the most exciting projects that I am developing, producing and acting. And I can't tell you anything right now, but you'll know soon.

Man shout out to her, and Andy Cohen told that she's welcome back at any time. She was the first black woman on that particular franchise, and she really made an impact in a splash and I want to say she's got her own production company and she did that Black Girl Missing Show for Lifetime, and so that movie came out last year. She executive produced it, starting it, and they're also extending that franchise. They did two new movies that she was executive producing. So I feel like the realm of what she's about to be doing is more producing, more acting. And we know her from back in nineteen eighty four she made her first TV appearance, so she's been doing the thing for quite some time. So the most love and admiration too, Garza Bouvet for everything that she has going on. That's a nice exit to leave while you know you're doing well all right now. Redman recently was on the Julian Dory podcast and he talked about whether or not he still hangs out with METHA man, here's what happened.

You and Meth get to hang out a lot these days. Still I don know, no, no, no, We do shows and we come back home. I don't hang out with a lot of rappers sot.

Like once we off the road, were like, all right, you got family to deal with I got I got to do.

My circle is very small.

All right. Well, people were saying, is there some beef? I don't think so.

I feel like he's saying they're older, people have their own families. They not hanging out When they were younger. It was a lot of hanging out going on. But I think both Metha Man and Red Man will say they're not just outside for stuff. Everybody's got work to do, all right. Michael Rainie Jr. Had some things to say about Little Meach. The two of them had a back and forth, and you know, first Michael Raannie Jr. Said this about whether or not he feels bad for Little Meach.

I feel bad for Little Meach.

I don't feel bad for no Gold and its planning.

Like I'm a growing man.

Why I gotta feel bad for another growing man?

Like you were going into it.

What you ask for my sympathy for.

You'd be all right.

It's like these guys that pitted against each other. They weren't even on the same show. It was just both on Stars.

Well.

Little Meach responded on social media. He said he got my name in his mouth more than his garden tool. Because I can't say that word. I think it rhymes with slave.

All right.

Now, Glorilla has reacted after being compared to that viral woman with the makeup that looked crazy. I don't know if you all saw that. She's such a pretty girl. I don't know if that makeup was real. I feel like this was something to go viral for it. There's no way anybody would do someone's makeup like that. Well, Glorilla went on social media and said, I'm looking through them quotes of that ugly makeup girl and everybody to say it looked like me. I'm in y'all and we'res DM right now, so that's it. She wasn't and she said at the end of the day that makeup was ugly. I just had blew up and was constantly getting free f up. She was being told not to post that is you can tell I hate it on the pictures. I just used to be scared to tell people they can't. This is a lot going on. But anyway, that was before when Glorilla had somebody posted something to her that went viral with her makeup not looking the way that she liked it.

Listen, makeup is a big deal. As a woman.

I could tell you, if we don't like our makeup, it can ruin a whole entire situation.

All right.

When we come back about last night, that's where we discussed what we had going on.

Last night.

I was at the coffee shop and I was doing some boss talk with some entrepreneurs, some local entrepreneurs, and I'm going to tell you what they had to say.

When it comes to hiring and some of those challenges. It's way helped.

Oh night, So about last night, Yes, I went down.

It's way up with Angela Yee and it's time for about last night. Now, last night, I was actually at my coffee shop, Coffee uplifts people, and you know, I actually have used it precruiter to hire some of the employees that work there. And I was having a conversation with some other business owners who I know in the area and talking to them kind of like about what they've been going through when it comes to hiring, when it comes to running a business. My guy John Laster, who's a comedian but he's also a founder of Black the App. It's a black owned business app, and he just added retail to that so now you can actually purchase some of these items like coffee uplifts people they were about to launch to that part of it.

But here's what you have to say about some of.

The challenges that he's discovered while trying to hire for this tech company.

Hiring is extremely tricky because I don't know, So you really have to trust that the people who are working on your business are doing the right thing or you're in trouble. And I've been in trouble while I was sitting in a meeting with the NBA and the app wasn't working because one of my developers had no idea what they were doing.

Can you imagine what us like.

You're in a high profile meeting like that, and that's and then what do you even say? And sometimes you only have one opportunity to present to somebody?

All right? Now.

We also had doctor Body who's an orthodontist, but she's not just an orthodontis with her own practice. She actually has also founded her own toothbus, the Big Mouth Toothbus. She was on Shark Tank by the way with that as well, so we talked about how that helped her business. She's hired a lot of family but she's also actually used it recruiter to hire here's what she said.

When I first.

Opened my practice, I hired according to the word of mouth. So this woman I found her sleeping at my front desk within the first week.

So we had a whole conversation about why it's important and how hard it is to actually find the right person, how it's kind of like dating around. And Tanika, who owns Dough Girl Cupcakes, she was there as well, and she hasn't even hired outside people yet. She's only had family members. Her and her mom really run the business. But she really wants to be able to hire somebody, but it has to be the right person because her business is her baby and you can't just trust.

That with anyone.

So we were just talking about hiring and how ZipRecruiter has zip intro and you can actually post your job today and then you can talk to interested qualified candidates tomorrow.

And I say this to say you should try it for free.

If you need to hire people, go to ZipRecruiter dot com slash way up and that's a way to try that zip intro for free. That's what we actually used when we went to hiring, and that way you're only talking to people who are qualified. You can put down the things that you're looking for. You know, do they have to have a food handler's license? How much experience they have and you're not just sifting through and guessing. All right, So that was the conversation we had.

All right.

Well, later today, Shy and weather Park are going to be joining us for Family Legacy.

Oh they're coming up next. All right, well let's do that.

That show is actually now streaming today on Paramount Plus and on MTV, so you can check them out. But that is Meta Man's daughter and Odb's son.

Family Legacy is way up, y'all.

I'm more way up with angel now.

Is what it is.

All right, It's way up with Angela yee. And for the first time e their weather Park is here. Yes, yes, yes, welcome to the show. And my girl Shy is back, who also performed at Angela y day and killed it.

Yes I did.

All right, Well, you guys.

Are going to be on MTV's Family Legacy and this is going to be amazing because I know it's fascinating for people to see, like celebrities, what are their kids doing, especially when their kids are also doing music. Now, Shy, I know you also Shy away from letting people know who your father is. It's always like, okay, don't introduce me as here we go get metha man's daughter. And I know your mom is very like when you her to do it on her own, and you have been doing it on your own, but then doing this is also like that's part of what the show was about. So what made you decide to do it?

I really decided to do it to give people like a different understanding of how people like us growing up with parents.

In the Spotlight and weather Park, for you, and in the trailer, you know, you say something that I felt like had a lot of layered meeting. You talk about being the son of old dirty bastard but he passed away when you were nine.

Yes, for you, how did that affect you?

Because in the trailer, I feel like what you said was also like I cannot wait to hear how he expands on that.

I don't think that I fully was aware of what was taking place at nine years old. I think it really started to hit me at like fifteen sixteen, when I get to see what a father and son bond actually looks like. So based off those experiences, you know, I had to do a lot of like working on my mental health. You know, I feel like everything my father, all the challenges that he was facing, This is the epitome of that, you know, having a fatherless child. Not to use the word bastard, but you know, a bastard child, you know, being that.

Yeah, it's a little emotional.

Sorry, Yeah, it's just yeah, it's just I'm not the only one that's feeling these feelings. You know, I have other siblings out there. So yeah, it's not just about me. It's about the legacy. It's about the story and making sure that you know, the people understand that my father, even though he's not here, he split himself up in multiple pieces so that you can still get to feel, touch and hear him.

You know, I definite knew your father because I did used to work in the office. I always talk about my relationship with him because he would call the office all the time, and I was kind of the person that was you know, I was an assistant to the CEO, to Riza and Divine, and so I was the one that was in charge of like the check books and everything, and he would always be like, YO, write me a check.

I'm like, I can't just write a check and hand it to you.

But you know, he was great because he would call curse me out, but then he would call back and apologize like two minutes later. But it was funny, like he didn't never mean any harm by any of the things. It was like his personality just to he was very animated, you know, in the workplace. So I always have like really good fond memories of both of your parents. For you Shy working in the office, and your dad. He was such a big celebrity but so grounded. Right now, I am talking to Shy who was met the man's daughter, and weather Park, who was Odb's son as old Dirty Bastard. Their show Family Legacy is streaming now. I'm Paramount Plus and on MTV and look Shy. Part of this is also being in the news because there was a big story about your father met the man getting into it with your ex boyfriend from ten years ago in the gym. Did he call and tell you about it? Did you read about it like everybody else? Did you saw it on the blogs? Like what happened?

Oh?

I don't know, girl, I was not involved in any kind of witch away.

I really don't know.

We're at the gym too.

I don't work out yet. I know I should, but yeah, I just you know, my dad loves me. He's always gonna protect me no matter what. Don't believe everything you read in the media. They was eating me up on Twitter.

They were eating did not respond. So sometimes you want to be like, hold up, like, actually you don't know me.

But listen.

I am so looking forward to seeing this and seeing all the Let's talk about some of the kids that's on there. You know Pepa and Tretchipizana and we've seen her also on Growing Up Hip Hop. Oh, John Rule's daughter DMX. I saw in the Lady.

I like to call them angels. We got a lot of angels this season. We also have Andree Stone and her son doing their interview together Wow for di'angelo.

So we can see that on TV Paramount Plus.

Yes, make sure y'all get your Paramount Plus subscriptions. You could also watch it on Amazon Prime.

All right, but thank you both so much. We'll be watching.

Yes, thank you, Mars five y'all.

When we come back. We have your yet. And let's talk about Nelly now.

He talked about appearing on MTV Cribs, and he said it was the worst thing that he did.

All right, we'll discuss. It's way up just like.

The talk like they Angela Jean like they Angelie Jean.

Man, she's spilling it all. This is yeaty way up.

It's way up at Angela yee and it is time for your yet. So Nelly talked about his episode of MTV Cribs that was in the early two thousand. I'm gonna say one of the ones that I remember the most was when Redman did it. I will never forget that episode of MTV Cribs because his house was you know, the screen doors, stuff was broken. It was people laying around. I thought it was like the realest thing ever. People thought that it was even fake. But here is what Nelly had to say about his MTV Cribs episode while he was talking on the j Cruise Show.

Jill Nelly, was your MTV Cribs real Hell Yeah, I sold it.

I had to get rid of it.

It was worst thing I did for the house being on MTV Cribs because people, Yeah, when I did it, there was no gate on the house and people were pulling their boats up to the dock. My mom is out by the pool, macole a boat up on the dock, walk up the dock.

All right, I can see that being an issue and people not thinking about that. MTV Cribs used to be such a big deal. If y'all remember when that show was out. Is there anything equipped I remember? Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous. That was the show too. All right, now, let's talk about Ben Affleck. He is on the cover of GQ and he's answering all these questions because you know, normally he does not do that. So they talked about the FBI visiting his house, and that was in the tabloid. You know, he don't like all of that, and he said the FBI did in fact visit his house, but he said that he said that he was trying to figure out what was going on. He called like, hey, the FBI, where you're at my house? Do you want to talk to me? So what happened was there was a break in of a federal officials home in that area. So the FBI went around and whoever lived there, they rang their bell. So it was something he didn't even know about. And he said they didn't even know it was his house when they came there and rang the Bell, and then they also talked about his relationship and his divorce from Jennifer Lopez and her documentary that she put out, The Greatest Love Story Never Told. The entire premise of the film is She's like, we're private people, but we have public dimensions as artists. And he talked about his temperament is to be a little bit more reserved and private than hers. As happens in relationships, you don't always have the same attitude towards these things. And so I thought, oh, this is interesting, because how do you reconcile that? And he said, you don't marry a ship captain and then say, well, I don't like going out in the water. And he said that in the documentary, and that's the part that they use. So he said, you've got to own what you knew going into any relationship. And I think it's important to say that wasn't the cause of some major facture. It's not like you can watch that documentary and go, oh, now I understand and the issues that these two had.

He's right about that, though.

You can't say I'm marrying a ship captain and then say I don't want to be out on the water and also shout out to NB a young boy. He got released from prison earlier than expected. He spent almost a year behind bars, so welcome home to him. All right, Well, we do have an announcement when we come back, and this is for you guys up here and for our Way Up gang family. Will tell you what's going on and the reason that we can all pet ourselves on the back. Right now, here's Wile and Jeremiah on Chill is Way up.

And iMOS the famous women in radio opening, and we're talking about angela Ye.

You're way up with angela Ye. Please believe that.

Oh my goodness, it's way up with angela yee. And I do have an announcement to make uh Dan my producers here, who by the way, is getting married, So he's going to be gone for a while.

A while, that's a fact. I'll be back though.

Navy is here running the boards mic in front of him. Thank god, No, I'm kidding, I'm kidding. You always see his face and his reaction. Sidney is here with us. JP is out here cutting clips and getting video up. But here is the big announcement. Way up with angela Ye has won Gracie Award such a big deal show. Shout out to the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation, and it's also the fiftieth annual Gracie Award, so it's quite an amazing year. And what this does is it champions women's voices, stories and achievements in many forms of media, from screens and podcasts to radio and creative accomplishments behind the camera. Amazing room to be in when they do the gracies. I'm out in La so I already bought my flight because they definitely told us ahead of time, so I was like, let me go get my flight right now.

But I'm excited for that, So thank you to everybody.

But the reason why we did win this Gracie is because of the people who listen to the show. That is the most important thing, and so we definitely don't take that for granted. Nothing means more to me than when I'm out and about and I'm going places and people come up to me and they know different segments on the show. Literally, I've had people tell me as they're driving my uber that they want.

To tell me a secret so they can go viral, and no, they want to just tell me.

And I've heard some of the most shocking secrets from people who I can see, so they're not anonymous. But I appreciate y'all anybody who does ask yee when they roll up on me and ask a question, even people, and this means I think the most when people tell me they listen to Wealth Wednesdays and they've learned a lot from that of they joined the Wealth Wednesday real Estate Club, just because the whole point and way up with Angela Yee is that we are on the way up. And as I told Mano yesterday, you know when they go low, we go way up with Angela Gyee. So again, we thank you to the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation and the great work that they do for the past fifty years of honoring people who are storytellers. Everybody else who want to Gracie, we want to congratulate you too. Hopefully I get to see a lot of you in person, because like I said, it.

Is one of the most amazing rooms to be in.

Dan is raising as he hand, Yes, I was asking play. I would like to add though, that this is our second Craze Award. We have one back to back and the show has only been on two airs, so I mean the show has only been on air for two years, so congratulations, Angela.

Oh well, thank you, thank you.

You're a workhorse.

I do work a lot, y'all.

I ain't gonna lie, but yes, so very exciting, So thank you again, and thank y'all for listening and supporting us. Don Robinson's going to be joining us later too, by the way, if I'm in Vogue, so that's going to be an amazing exclusive.

Y'all know. I love me some in Vogue. I love Don Robinson.

I love Lucy Pearl And recently she went viral because she was living in her car and people had a lot to say about that. So we're gonna hear what actually happened after that and what she, you know, really has going on. And we got the Way Up mixed at the top of the hour. Let's go just like the chout.

Like they and Jelie Jean, like they and Jelie Jean.

Man, she's spilling it all. This is yeaky, way up.

It's way up at Angela. Yee, I am here today to do your eye tee. And I got so excited when I was scrolling through Instagram and saw the upcoming movie Final Destination Bloodlines has a trailer out. It's coming out on May sixteenth, and it shows ordinary things that turn deadly. You know what final Destinations about. You're never going to look the same at going to have a drink at a local bar. Anyway, here is what that trailer sounds like.

I always knew this day would come.

Death is coming for our family.

Gredma, what's happening to us?

Years ago?

I had a premonition that started.

At all I saw what death was about to do. But Death doesn't like it when you mess with his plans.

Ooo, Baby, I'm excited. What do you think, Dan, I'm.

Excited to this day.

I do not like driving behind like eighteen wheelers that have like the logs in them from one of the first destinations.

And have Yeah, have you ever been about to get on a flight and then all of a sudden Final Destinations on and you'll like, dang all right? And Lizzo is going to be playing a sister Rosetta Tharp and an upcoming bio pick and that's gonna be on Amazon MGM Studios.

It's called Rosetta.

She died at fifty eight years old, inn Arkansas native who influenced artists like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and Little Richard. She's considered one of the greatest guitarists of all time. So Lizo posted black people made rock and Roll. Yeah, I'm out here reclaiming rock and roll for us. Beautiful thing to see.

All right. And under Armour it's back in the NFL in Rina.

The NFL has rekindled their relationship with under Armour that is now the official partner for footwear and gloves. They previously were the official supplier from two thousand and six to twenty twenty, but now they are back. They used to have to cover up the logos after all of that, but it's a long term partnership that's going to make that brand back again.

Under Armour.

I remember I invested in under Armour and then things crashed with it.

You gotta tell your Mike on do.

You still have a stock?

Yes?

Okay, so hope, let's see what happens I mean down far all right. And speaking of money, DDG recently was streaming and he had some things to say about how much money it would take for you to sustain a lifetime or how much money it wouldn't take. Here's what he said.

Ten ms for the rest of your entire life is not enough money.

Let's debate, please, I would love to get canceled about this. I stand on it. You don't have nothing to do with me being a rapper, don't have nothing to do with me.

Won't nice?

It will have nothing to do with none of that.

Oh and you know wealth Wednesdays tomorrow. What do you think about that statement? Ten ms for the rest of your life.

I think I could make that work.

I think if I invested in some real estate and had different, multiple multi unit properties, and then that money was invested right in stocks and different things, and you know, there's for sure where you can make that money grow. Now, if you just had ten million dollars never bought, but nothing never invested, I could see, because inflation keeps on going up. A million dollars is not the same as what it was when we were kids.

I think it's enough even if you were to have no investments, if you were to live like a super humble lifestyle.

It depends where you live, yeah, because some cities are quite affordable and some cost you way more to live in. But yes, yeah, so I think it depends now if you want to live like I'm sure DDG lives or if you want to have a luxury lifestyle, it's definitely not going to last.

But like you said, you think you could do that, not.

Buy anything, pay rent, pay for food for a lifetime.

I mean, I get bored, but yes.

Inflation is crazy, though I'm.

Not survivor's mentality.

Yes, absolutely, like I just even, Yeah, New York is expensive.

I'm not going to Laea.

New York City's out of the earth quake.

Live here.

You can move upstate New York. Property is really cheap up there.

Yeah, yeah, if you're renting, because I think property tax gets crazy too, and the more property that you have, it just depends, it depends.

Yeah, people buy tons of acres up there because it's so cheap.

You could also buy a multi unit home, live there and rent out to other units and that'll.

Pay all of your bills.

That's also true.

All right, Well, anyway, that is your I didn't want to debate him like that, but I couldn't help it. You know, I love having these types of conversations, you know, along those lines. I'm gonna be in Memphis tomorrow talking about development, talking about real estate, So make sure y'all come and check me out there, and we do have ask Ye coming up. Eight hundred and two ninety two fifty one fifty.

Called this up. Any question you have, We're here to help its way.

Up, whether it's relationship, for career advice. Angela's dropping facts, so you should know. This is ask gee what's up?

His way up?

With Angela Yee. I'm Angela Yee and it's time for asking yee. This is where you guys call in and I give you some advice. And today we have a caller from our voicemail.

Listen to this.

I have been dating this guy for two years and next month will be our anniversary. About two weeks ago, I found out that he was cheating on me. He pocketed oled me while he was with someone else, and I heard the actual act on my voicemail. I have ended the relationship, but I'm still so madly in love with this man and it's tearing me apart, and I just don't know what to do. Can you help me please?

I have to be honest. The very same thing happened to me.

I didn't hear them having sex, but my ex boyfriend pocket dilled me and I heard him with another woman. Talking, having a whole conversation. I was actually in the car with one of my friends, so we both heard it because it was on the bluetooth and the speaker in the car. And I did hang up and call him back, and he denied it and then pretended he was at his friend's house. But anyway, the story ends like this, Okay, I did give him another chance after that, even though I knew that he was lying and cheating, and guess what, he did it again and again and again. And so the question is, you know, being madly in love with somebody and knowing that you've heard that. I don't know how you're going to get over that, because when you're madly in love with somebody and they do something like that, it is so hard to fathom why. And I'm not saying that people can't change. They can, but they have a lot to prove.

Now.

I think ripping that band aid off and actually breaking up with somebody is a great first step. But you have to be patient with yourself and know that of course you still love this person. Of course you're upset, of course you're hurt. Of course you want him back. Those are all normal things. You can't turn your feelings off, but you also have to know every day is going to get better. I just want to say to you that unless he shows some tremendous effort and trying to repair things and show you how he can fix and change things, which I think shouldn't be anything, that he should easily be able to come to you and say, you know, you have to stay away from him, because otherwise he'll think that he can just keep on.

Doing what he's doing.

Because you're not going to leave him anyway, I would say, you need to keep yourself occupied. I gave myself a rule when I was with my friends. I was like, do not let me continue to talk about him all the time. Let's talk about other things. That was the only way that I was going to be able to move on and get over it. And it did help me tremendously. So I am wishing you all the best, and every day is going to be hard, and that's fine, And who knows what the future of my whole because one thing I also learned is that later on down the line, when you find the right person, none of that from the past matters anymore. So the only way you'll find the right person is to cut all that negativity and block out all of the things that you don't need. And he sounds like something you don't need in your life, all right, that is your answer for ask ye. Eight hundred and two nine fifty one fifty is a number in case you couldn't get through. And when we come back, Don Robinson is going to be joining us. You know her as a member of the group in Vogue, which I love, also a member of Lucy Pearl, but also most recently going viral for talking about car life and living in her car.

You guys will love this conversation. It's way up.

She turn me up here, we go up there. This is way up with Angela.

Ye.

What's up? Is way up with Angela? Yee.

And first of all, you guys know, I've always said how much of a fan I am of this woman right here, and she recently went viral, but I've been talking about what a fan I am even before that.

Don Robinson is joining us via zoom. What's up? Don Robinson?

Oh?

Good?

How are you? Angela?

I'm doing well and you look amazing. Thank you.

I think it's important for people to put the whole thing in context, because you describe a series of circumstances that happen with your previous co manager and how that kind of led up to you, like staying in a hotel then not getting a place. But people do have to I think watch the whole thing because they were clips that were posted, so it made it seem like, how did this happen? She just all of a sudden, is, you know, homeless living in her car? But it was actually something that one day you were like, you know what, I'm going to try this.

I want to do this car life thing.

It's almost like people think that I was just like thrown into carl Iff and I had no, she's just homeless. It's not that at all. I made a choice, Like I said, I could have stayed at the hotels, or it could have worked it out even with my manager to stay with him, Like how can we make room in your apartment? He has a one bedroom, one bathroom. It's like they saw what they wanted to see. They didn't see what I said. My car is right now temporarily, my room, my home, but I'm building my life from here. It's like that, and somebody said, somebody said, oh no, she's not homeless, look at her nails. She got to know. So it's called polish.

And somebody else said she has an assistant.

That weighing in and saying, you know, this is her twice, this is what she wants to do.

She has an assistant. You're not, you know, on house with an assistant right exactly.

And I've only met him once in my life, so I was shocked. He doesn't know my story. So he's assuming instead of reaching out to me directly and say, hey, you know, I heard about your situation. What do you need? Are you okay?

Or you know what?

I don't know her story, but she's being very brave, like be quiet.

Right now talking to Don Robinson from in Vogue. So how are things with you and your mom?

Now?

I know that you said that previously you were staying with your mother before you started car life.

My mom and I like, don't have that relationship that I really want, like I said, and I said that stuff not to put my mother on blasts. I've always admired my mom. Something happened with that relationship and there was anger. I was like, oh, what is happening. I almost thought maybe early stages of dementia until I mentioned something to her She's like, yes, I did. I said that, and I'd say it again. Okay, so you knew what you were saying, and she didn't atone for what she said.

I saw she She commented after all this and said that she would give you a hug if she saw you, and that.

You have to say that to make herself You know what I mean. There's certain types of narcissism that I've heard about or learned about in my lifetime. My ex is one of them. My mother's a certain type, and so she doesn't want to look like I'm not trying to make a look bad as a mother. She's been a amazing mother. But as she's gotten older, something happened when I lived with her again, and I'm like, this is not the same woman. So they were so anxious to get an interview with her, and I was like, why are these people reaching out so hard on my mom. I didn't get to her, and she didn't contact me to say, hey, do on these people want to talk to me. That's what it used to be back in the day, right, she just did the interview with them. This is what I wish would have happened. Would have been nice if my mom said, you know what, my daughter and I said some things to my daughter that were not very nice, and I regret those things, but we'll do with that with each other. I love her. She could have just taken accountability. I guess that would have been great, and didn't do that.

And you mentioned your ex and I saw he also said he offered you a job, and like.

Would you work with your ex? He has to take my shine because he doesn't have shine of his own, so he made comments that he shouldn't have made. I haven't heard from him about a job, and why would I take a job from an ex?

Don Robinson if I'm in Vogue and Lucy Pearl is here with us, and we're talking more about the documentary she's working on and how she ended up living in her car voluntarily.

By the way, it's way up.

Everybody listen yea.

Yea, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yee is but y'all being waiting.

Foh you tapped in a way up with Angela Yee?

What's up?

His way up with Angela Yee and Donna Robinson, I Fro'm in Vogue and Lucy Pearl also solo artists, also working on a new documentary is here with us.

You talked about that too.

Pennies a record that was the in vogue days and people not in vogue broke up because of issues.

But it was really about.

The finances, right, like these contracts aren't looking right and I can't continue this if I'm not gonna get paid what my work was.

It was a little deeper than that, because you know, I was still going along. We were doing our would have been EB four album and it became the EV three. So I'm not going to get into the details of the past, because that's why it's the past. But I was the only one speaking up. Like Terry had done a solo album. We supported her solo album. The record company came to me maybe a month later and said, Dorn, would you like to do a solo album too, And I'm like, first of all, I know we supported Terry, but this is not right what they did. And the more I look at this, it's like it was wrong that they were in the middle of our career. We're doing well and we had only done we had only done two major albums and then a EP. So in the interim, here comes silvere wrong. And then we did Don't Let Go which was for the soundtrack, and that was great, but our career wasn't big enough for Terry to do a solo album, I think. So we had found out that we were free and clear from that deal, and instead of us going as a group, because we found out because of our attorney told us, wow, Terry went back and told our producer because she was dating him, that we are free and clear because they didn't renew our option. And when that happened, Divide and conquered. We'll put Terry in the studio and we'll have the other three girls over here just waiting. And I was like, wait a minute, it's been months. Terry did an album, she recorded it, that took a long time. Then she's practicing, she rehearsing as you say, she's doing videos that took time. Then she did a promo tour and now she's on a major tour. That took all that time.

I got to pay my mortgage, right, you still have to work.

Absolutely, And when the lad came to me to do a solo album, I said yes. And then Maxine and Sydney called me and they said, Dawn, you did a solo deal and I said, yeah, I did, and I'm sorry that I didn't tell you guys. I should have divulced that to you. However, Terry didn't divulced us that she was in the studio recording her album.

She just did it.

And when we called her, she's like, well, I don't really agree with what you want to do, and I want to stand with Denny and Tommy. Well you signed with us. You didn't sign with Denny and Tommy. You signed the four of us signed together with Denny and Tommy as our production company. So that means divide and conquer. And she's like, I feel this way, I'm going to stay over here with them. And I'm like, wow, okay, so we have to decide what we're going to do and I'm not going to lose my house because of her. So when the record company came to me months later and said, Dawn, do you want to do it? So I should have thought of it, like, okay, there's probably trying to divide and conquer with me too.

Yeah.

Why now we're talking to Don Robinson and we're talking about what happened within Vogue if she's still in touch with them.

But my thing is we shouldn't have had that financial situation right exactly, and we had sold millions on the first album. When we were back in the stage from our first time overseas abroad, I took our manager backstage because I was confused. I'm like, we just did these major shows overseas, all of these fans of screaming for us around the world, and we come home and we're still broke. He said, you know, that's a pie in the sky. And said, but David, we already sold all these millions of records on our first album, like, and we just came home. We saw how the fans feel over there as well. And he's like, yeah, but that's a pie.

In the sky.

And I'm like, wait a minute, what.

Do you mean by that. You gotta sell millions of albums for that?

I said, we did and tours and shows exactly.

And the world loves us, so now I know there's got to be money there. And he's like, well, you know it's going to take some time, dude, okay. And I'm by myself, so I'm going against kind of what the girls feel. But in my spirit, I've always seen that something was wrong with this picture. These girls are loved by the world. We're selling all these records. We have platinum albums on our wall, and yet we are broken. When I started seeing our producers get mansions and of course the executive for the record company, I understood that she had it. It was our team's job, our managers, our producers, all these people that say they love us, that we're family.

And a lawyer and our lawyer attorney.

Yeah I didn't put him in there, but yeah, our attorneys. They should have made sure that we were okay.

Don Robinson, if I'm in Vogue and Lucy Pearl is here with us and we're talking more about the documentary she's working on and how she ended up living in her car are voluntarily by the way, it's way.

Up, way up with.

What's up his way up with Angela Yee and Donna Robinson. If I'm in Vogue and Lucy Pearl is here with us, it's been three years of car life. And I know you said it's temporary. So for you, so what's the next step? Like do you already have it planned out? How do you know when it's like okay, time to do something else.

I'm looking for deals, like uh, you know, directors, and like I said, the number one documentary because the story needs to be told. It happens way too often or far too often, with celebrities not getting paid their worth. This is an old story that should still happen, and it depends on the deals that are on the table. And it's not that I did this episode for that. I just knew. I knew how much of an impact this was going to have. I just knew it. But once I feel like there's a deal on the table that is right for me to be able to move out of my car, and I want to also capture that. I want to capture you guys, I got this is the deal that came through for me. I can't really tell you right now what it is, but it's enough to get me out of my situation and into a place, because I don't want to just grab an apartment and it's like, right, it's temporary, then I be back in this situation. So I want to know that all my ducks are in a row and business is taking care of the way it's supposed to.

Right now, I'm talking to Don Robinson from in Vogue has tagged car Life. Has anybody from in Vogue reached out like watching that or seeing that do you still speak to them?

Good question, but they probably know I'm tired of going back and forth to the group. Every single time I go back, I go back. We have deals on the table that makes sense to me and would make sense anybody else who has a brain in their hand. I'm sorry, I gotta just speak truthful. This is who I am. They picked the wrong deal every single time, and so they know that I'm not going to come back and deal with their shenanigans again. So they probably like, Dan's not going to come back. No, I told them the last time. We had the opportunity to do this the right way. Us. Sinny and Terry have a member in the group. She's very nice to me. Rona has never done anything nefarious, are nasty in my direction. I just wanted to celebrate our fans with just the four of us, because Rona wasn't there from the beginning, okay, So I wanted to share that with the fans, what we created from day one in the trenches, in living out of suitcases on the road and shaking hands, kissing babies and hugging fans. I wanted to give that to the fans ourselves and Cindy was like, don you know how she talks like don but you've only payed with us for thirteen years. Rona's been with us for thirteen years and you've only you were only with us for eight And I said, yeah, I understand that, but Rona hasn't brought a hit, and maxiin and I bring hits, I saying the biggest hit that we have, Like, come on, I mean no offense to Rona, but let's celebrate. When we did the Alicia Keys thing, I want to say two thousand and seven or eight, the girls asked me to come back, and Alicia Keys made it very very clear that she wanted the original four and the girls understood that. Well, why is it that when Down says it, or the fans are saying it, even they're not paying attention to that, they're still ignoring it, like as if they don't hear what the fans are saying. The fans are making are very clear that they wanted me, Maxine, Cindy and Terry, and I'm not going to be where I'm not wanted, So I'm not going to fight to get back into something I've already come back. Every single time you guys ask you to come back and then you make stupid decisions and I have to walk away.

Well listen, give it up up, to give it up, turn it loose.

That's what we said, free mine. Okay, all right, well don again. I appreciate you so much, and again you are an icon. So just a pleasure to be able to talk to you. And now everybody watch the YouTube and make sure they're paying attention and.

Watching the blogs.

Let that at least set it off for everything else for a year.

Yes, sir official Dawn Robinson it is and Sean is spelled sh yy and ease.

All right, I appreciate you so much.

Thank you, Thank you, Angela, thank you so much.

So you can watch that full interview on my YouTube channel Way Up with You, And I do want to let you guys know that it was actually her PR person that's set up a room for her to actually do the interview in and also get her makeup done. That's not what she normally would do, but to be prepared for this interview, she kind of stepped out of her comfort zone.

So just remember that part too. It's way up
