Treach from Naughty By Nature talks about his solo career and past relationships. We also have a new Tell Us A Secret with B.Dot
You are now. It's a Angelo what I call yee.
Oh Happy Monday. It's way up with Angela. Yee beat out here with.
Me, Angela. I haven't seen you since twenty twenty four.
You've been sick. Happy New Year, Happy New Year.
That's you're allowed to say Happy New Year the first time you see somebody, and then after that is over.
Okay, cause I was curious if we're too deep in January to say it.
You know, people are still texting me Happy Birthday. I'm like, that was ten days ago. But yes, of course, welcome back.
Beat out. What was wrong with you?
I had everything, man I had. I think it flew cold.
It was really out of it.
I was down bad.
All right, Well, we're glad you're okay. Tretch is going to be joining us today.
Yes, give it up for Naughty by.
Nature, alongside his nephew money X, who is a rapper from Jersey City. So he's helping him out with his career. He's actually on his project. You know, it's a family affair. But of course we want to spread some love and positivity. We want to shine a light. Eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty Call us up. Let us know who you would like to shine a light on. Let's pread some love. That's eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty.
I'm shin, I'm shine.
Turn your lights on. Y'all are spreading love to those who are doing greatness.
Shine a light on, Shine a light on.
It's time to shine a light on.
All right.
This is my favorite thing to do on way up is to shine a light. Beat out your hair, beat right. I know you're going to enjoy this one too, Okay, all right, today I want to shine a light on cherryl Lee Ralph. She is getting her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on January twenty ninth, and she's sixty six years old, and so she is such an inspiration.
First so I just love her as a human being.
Long overdue, but she received her first Primetime Emmy award in her decades long career, and you know, that's yet another milestone for her. And she says she's worked so hard for this moment. It's easy to look at the Highway and think it's always been like that, but no, there was a time when it was a dirt road and somebody had to bust rocks to clear it and it wasn't easy. You know what Her first film role was in nineteen seventy seven, Wow, it was a movie called The Piece of the Action, alongside Sidney Poitier. And she also had a Tony nomine performance in the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls.
And then we know her from so many different things.
But right now Abbott Elementary, which is one of my favorite shows to watch, whether I'm on a flight or at home watching it on Hulu. So congratulations to her, and we want to shine a light on her.
I was introduced to her as Malicia's stepmom.
Right, moshav Right.
I mean, just think about all the things that she's done throughout different like decades, and so the fact that she is still killing it out here, you know, in all of her roles. And she said one day I was on a plane and Sicily Tyson said, many great things are going to happen to you, many many, many the eldest have good to me, and they would not be surprised. That's what she told People Magazine. So shout out to Charlie Ralph. Now, desiree, who do you want to shine a light on.
I want to shine a light on my stepmom, my dad. I'm societed my son two years ago.
Dates in mind.
Number want supporters. I just want to let the whole world know how much I love them. For love of my kids.
That's beautiful, you know.
It takes a village, they say, and nothing better than having some help.
Fine, what are their names?
My dad name is Lamar and that's my son middle name. And my stepmom name is Melissa.
All right, well, Lama and Melissa, thank you so much for helping our girl out.
All right, well, thank you for calling.
Thank you you too.
That would shine a light eight hundred and two ninety two fifty one fifty.
If you couldn't get through, you can still leave a message.
And speaking of which, I want to make sure that when we come back for YETI first things first, let's acknowledge everybody in these LA fires and what they've been going through. We'll tell you what people are saying from the front lines. And of course we want to make sure that we send our deepest, deepest sympathy to everybody who is losing their homes that they've built from the ground up, or their dream home that they purchased, or just having a roof over their head period.
We'll talk about it. It's way up, they says in the rooms.
From industry shade to all of us and out sending angels feeling that et.
It's way up. What's up beat at sea? Let's get into this eut right away. We'll talk about these fires that have been burning. I think they said so far the death toll is at twenty four. It's awful. And Megan Marcos, she had a show on Netflix, a series called With Love, and they're now going to be pushing that back.
They just announced this yesterday.
They said, at her request, the show With Love Meghan is going to be pushed back and it probably won't be out, you know, for at least a couple of months. But there was video of her and Prince Harry surveying the damage caused by the Pacific Palisades, speaking with local officials, walking through the area for forty five minutes. So With Love Megan is now going to premiere on March fourth, Janayeiko. In the meantime, her cozy cottage dream is gone. Her house has been reduced to ash. She put out video of what it looked like, and she fired back at some of the people that were saying that basically, oh, buy.
Another one, build another one. Yes, out of here.
Imagine your home is gone and now people have the nerve to come at you like that's a heartbreaking situation. I was thinking about how much bloods, wit and tears I put into my house. If something would have happened and people were like just no, that was like everything I had into you know. Kim Kardashian in the meantime wants us to pay well. Not us, but once it made firefighters to get paid more. She's not wrong for that, she said, they are the real heroes. They only get paid a dollar an hour and that is definitely not enough.
Now.
According to the Marshall Project, they cover criminal just inequities. Inmates in California are kept at twenty six dollars and ninety cents during emergencies for a twenty four hour shift, so that is about a dollar an hour.
I'm curious what kind of inmates are these?
You have to Actually, they won't allow certain people to do it. It depends on, yeah, what you've been So it's.
Not like it's not like a rapist is out there.
No, they won't allow that. They're not eligible for this program. The real benefit is you get your sentence reduced. So one day of serving in a fire crew means a two day reduction in you're sentencing.
So that's how that works. Okay, all right.
In the meantime, Tyler Perry is also slamming insurance companies for canceling policies during this crisis. He said, does anyone else find it appalling that insurance companies can take billions of dollars from communities for years and then all of a sudden be allowed to cancel millions of policies for the very people that became rich off of. People who have paid premiums are their lives, and you pay those premiums in case of an emergency, but you pray that you don't ever need to have to tap into it.
Assurance is the biggest scamp.
Oh my goodness.
I mean, that's awful, and they need to be accountable because there's people that canceled insurance, you know, for high risk zones and fire insurance.
And things like that.
What's the point.
Tiger was on live stream and he ended up having to evacuate in the middle of his live stream. Here's how that went down.
I might have to endish I might have to end the stream a little live. I wanted to stand here all night with y'all, but you know, we got to be safe. Yeah, we might have to evacuate.
You think, yeah, I mean there's people and that are out there, and if your house didn't burn down, the fire, the quality of the air that's around you, it's not you know, it's not safe. Like I know, people are like, I can't breathe properly, my skin is itching, and you got to get out. But then the way the winds are blowing, you don't know what's going to end up happening, and people are trying to save what they can. Dion Cole had to evacuate his home. He said, the day is devastating. Left the hospital earlier because he was in the hospital he was sick, went home, then had to pack what I could to evacuate. As I drove away, I saw the fire rising from behind my house. It's a nightmare. I got the flowers my mom gave me before she passed.
It looks like a movie or something right.
It does.
And Beyonce has made a two point five million dollar donation to LA fire relief funds. I know a lot of people are wondering where should I be donating? How can I participate? So just if you look at certain people's social I saw Essence was doing a lot with Afropunk. I'm just seeing all these different organizations. I told you I sent twelve boxes of clothes out over the weekend.
Twelve boxes, yeah, crazy.
Twelve boxes to people that people are adopting families and trying to help them.
So I wanted to send some things to.
Do whatever I could, and I still have more than I'm going to be sending. Halle Berry donated her entire closet to a wildfire victim clothing drive. Sharon Stone also has been supporting the organization. Jamie Lee Curtis donated one million dollars. You know a lot of people are chipping in, right, it takes a village, Yes, it does. All right, Well that is your ut. And when we come back, we have about last night. That's where we discussed what we did last night.
It's way up.
So about last night, Yes, I went down.
Yes, it's way up at Angela gyee beat out. What was your weekend?
Like?
Well it was beat those real quick.
I was just watching play off football, Okay, exciting? Yes, what happened during playoff football because I.
Didn't Lamar Jackson won. Shout out to the Ravens man. I was really happy about that.
Oh that's your team, that's my guy.
I like him. I never met him, but he seems like he said he would be my friend.
Okay, So you like people, not necessarily, not necessarily the teams.
I like New York teams, but you know I like Lamar Jackson.
Okay.
Well, over the weekend, I was definitely checking on you know, my best friend lives in LA Actually two of my really good friends, Ingrid from I Best Wines and then Scanti Gold and so I was checking on them to make sure and I actually linked them with each other to kind of like help each other out because people are evacuating their homes. But then also like when can I go back and check on things, and people have like really nostalgic things in their homes that they want to try to at least like take those things out right. But she has you know, children that are young, and they were scared and they had to leave right away. So just trying to see what was going on on the ground. I know a lot of people are helping each other out I was telling you earlier people are actually adopting families, and I love that this is happening where they're taking in people and trying to help certain people get the necessities that they need for themselves, their kids, the rest of their families. And so just seeing everybody pulling together the way that they have been, you know, And I'm just trying to pay attention to where we can how we can help, like how can we send things? What should we be donating to If I can help people as individuals and send what they need. I'm just trying to make sure that I'm on top of that. So I spent a lot of time like putting things together, getting packages together, getting necessities together, to get that done. And shout out to my girl Destiny who came over to help me out too, to make sure all of that got done, and of course Meeks who was there carrying the boxes.
St Angela.
No not I just I felt really bad just watching that and people explaining to me also because a lot of people are thinking only rich people lost their homes, but there's people in all neighborhoods Alta Dina, I know that's a neighborhood that people were talking to me about and it's you know, hardworking people losing everything.
So that's not easy, all right. So that's about last night.
And tell us a secret when we come back eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty.
You guys, call us up and tell us a secret.
And the rules are it is supposed to be a no judgment zone, right, so everybody that gets mad because the whole point of it is not to judge anybody. I mean, that's what I'm hearting of it. Tell us a secret. Eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty. It's a no judgment zone. You are anonymous.
Call us up.
We want to hear your secrets. Eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifteen.
Ohaya, this is a judgment free zone.
Tell us a secret.
His way up at Angela. Yee, I'm here with my guy. Beat us.
He smokes cigarettes because it's a secret. There's a certain voice you got to put on when you tell a secret. Body like you know what, when you know somebody has some juicy gossip to tell you guys, especially y'all call up and you'd be like, yo, tell me why.
Yeah, that's the voice that she'll be using.
It's a different when y'all got a little tea to tell. But again, we are here to hear your secrets. It's a no judgment zone. You are anonymous eight hundred two ninety two fifty one fifty Hello anonymous caller, tell us your secret.
I'm pregnant by my baby daddy's dad.
WHOA, wait, your baby daddy's dad? So the father in law?
Yes?
How did that happen?
Like?
How did y'all hook up?
Were we mad years ago when we fell in love? Maybe the last year?
Oh, so you're in love?
I'm in love love?
WHOA does your baby daddy know?
He definitely doesn't he does.
Now are you going to tell him? When are you? When are you gonna tell him? Is the real question?
Well, I'm doing. I'm doing next month, so maybe next month.
I have one month to.
Figure it out.
Did you have a baby shower yet?
No? I haven't. Who does he think I'm thirty seven? I think I'm too old for baby showers?
So who does he think you're pregnant by him?
Wait?
Oh, your baby daddy thinks?
Is this kid?
Yes, Angela, that DNA test might show it is, because they probably got this saying, DNA, you can maybe pass it off.
Well, we've been together exactly, but we've been together for sixteen years, so I don't think it's gonna be a problem.
Wait, wait, wait, you don't think it's gonna be a problem.
What do you mean it's gonna look like him? Because this is Daddy's saving So it's gonna look at you know.
So you're gonna said, you're not gonna tell him, You're gonna let him think it's his.
I'm definitely nah, I'm definitely not. I'm just gonna keep it in the family.
Wow, damn.
All right, Well that's a big secret.
Be crazy.
Are you sure it's that that dad? That dad?
I'm very sure I've been. I've been messing with his dad for like the past year and only him.
Wow, that's crazy.
Be that damn.
But no judgment, right, maybe a little no? That was all right? Well, next up, anonymous, call it what's your secret?
So I have a four months old I just had her in September.
She's gonna be four months.
But maybe daddy he stopped like we was in a good relationship, went out for like years.
I've done since I was six.
I got pregnant, and he stopped messling me.
And I don't know, like I still just be catching myself trying to try to like.
Get back to get me still a little flick stuff like up on Christmas.
Gifts and stuff, and I didn't get anything back.
I will say he was honest with you, right, he didn't want to be with you, and he's not leading you on boom.
When I was pregnant, he used to do stuff like take me to the movie.
They're like act me if I was like bored or anything.
He'll hang out. And then like afterwards, like if I texted him or something, he would like I don't know, he would just get weird and like mad.
Or distance those friends.
I wouldn't really even say that we're friends. Now, that's the thing, Like we don't even talk.
He's a good dad though, Yeah, for sure. All right, that's the most important thing.
Facts, that's the only thing that matters.
I'm just sticking Sauty a little foreigner.
Listen.
It takes a lot to admit it, so thank you for sharing with us, of course.
All right, Well that.
Was tell us a secret eight hundred tw fifty one fifty. If you couldn't get through, you can still leave your secret for the last word, and when we come back, we have your yet, and let's discuss what is going on with Cameron versus Jim Jones. I guess Cam and Mace was on vacation and now they're responding to things that Jim Jones has said, and we have that for you when we come back.
It's way up, Joe, She's about to blow the lead ab off this spot.
Let's get it.
Oh, Angelus feeling that yet, Come.
And get your tea. It's way up.
But Angela yee with my guy beat at and shout out to Glourilla. We just heard some Glorilla. She's going to be doing Saturday Night Live with Dave Chappelle on this weekend January eighteenth.
Best female wrap out, so love to see it.
All right, now, let's get into Cameron versus Jim Jones.
Did Mace say anything?
Really?
It wasn't really about Mace at all.
First, the Fat Boys break up? Now this all right?
Well, Jim Jones kind of started this when he went on justin the Boys Show and said this about Cameron.
You we never hear your side of the story.
Kim's I thought we could pull it together next thing.
I know.
I've seen Jim performing with it. You ain't think nothing. You could pull nothing together. He couldn't do nothing with me.
You couldn't tell me nothing. They just not get you twisted like nobody could tell me nothing.
That was my own boss.
So that kind of started, I guess the whole effect. Now, I guess Cameron and Mace we're on vacation and so they were hyping it up to come back to work on a Monday.
And here is.
Some of us Cameron had to say in response to Jim Jones aka Jomo, you are not from Halem.
Why do you keep thinking that you are from Harlem? Bro Contrary to what you believe. I did not grow up with you. You are from the Bronx. Did your grandmother live in Harlem?
Yes?
Did you come see you?
Yes?
Did I see you turn the time?
Yet?
I did not grow up with you.
I love the Bronx.
Yeah, and he didn't.
You know what Jim Jones didn't like was Cameron's interview with fifty cent, and so that's what Jim Jones was responding to.
Did they say anything bad?
You think? I don't think. I think it felt like overreaction, But you know, it seems like these guys break up every once a quarter.
And then going on each other.
Well, Cameron also had some things to say about Jim Jones because he's basically saying that Jim Jones has beef for people and then gets cool with them.
Here's what he said, you talk about I would have left.
I would have left Alan, But listen, do you remember how you got cool with us? One day, I'm leaving Mace House on the West Side, going back to the East Side. I stop at Joe Morowse. His grandmother died, God blessing that, and he had a free He had a recrap so yeah, I would bring some over there sometime. I never needed nowhere to stay. Do you act like when you have couch you begged us?
You are a fan?
All right, Well, let's see how they come back from this one, because you're right, they do end up kind of falling out and then coming back together.
I don't think it's any coming back from this.
You know.
The only person that loses in the situation of the fans. You know, we love to see Dipset together. We love to have a Dipset album or reunion, and you know, at this point, I don't think that's gonna happen.
Yeah, because they've been talking about this for for a long time. For a lot of time, it feels like there's just too many issues all right now. Jimmy Butler is upset about his baby mom. He pays her quite a bit of child support, fifty five dollars a month to help care for their fifty five dollars thousand dollars a month to help care for their three children, and he thinks that's more than enough. But now she wants an extra ten thousand dollars because she needs help from a nanny, and.
He said that she doesn't need that.
He filed the motion to find out how she spends the money, why she needs the extra cast and they're basically saying they must be pointing out the father and mother whenever married.
That was his response.
Mother is not entitled to live as if she is married to an NBA player, and that is his response. Mother is unemployed, refuses to seek employment, with one child in preschool and father exercising equal time sharing with the older children, There was no legitimate reason for the mother to insist both on a nanny and that the father pay for that nanny.
Fifty five thousand dollars for nanny who trying to hire.
Well, no, fifty five thousand is what she gets. Now she wants to extra ten thousand dollars per month for nanny.
Who's you're trying to hire Mary Poppins.
Nanni's are expensive, I'll say that, but she gets quite a bit of money.
So all right, well that is your YEETI.
When we come back under the radar, these are the stories that are not necessarily in the headlines. They're flying under the radar, but we got them for you.
It's way up the.
News, asition the news that relates to you. These stories are flying under the radar.
It's way up at Angela.
Yee.
I'm here with my guy beat us.
Yes, what a year has been already, and we've been talking about these devastating fires in Los Angeles, and they're saying that dangerous winds are threatening to undo progress in this battle against the blazes out there.
So firefighters are in a critical stage.
It's been almost a week since they've been battling these blazes, and they're saying that conditions could spread the fires as dangerous winds are returning this week at least twenty four people have died and there are dozens still missing, so they expect that desthold to be higher than that. More than ninety two thousand Los Angeles County residents are under evacuation orders.
Firefighters right now.
Are working so hard to try to contain this fire as best they can, and there's a lot going on as far as donations.
So just make sure.
Whatever you can do to help. I know, people appreciate it right now. We're doing our part however we can. I saw they're talking about the Grammys too, because the Grammys are supposed to take place February second, so it looks like they're either going to reschedule it or they're going to make it more of a benefit type of event, which I think could be really helpful for people.
It's hard to be in a celebratory mood at a time.
Like that, right because this is affecting a lot of people, you know, and I know people talking about, oh, the rich people this and that. First of all, nobody wants to have their home destroyed, no matter how much money you have. But it's affecting everybody, not just rich people. And so again, you know, whatever you can do to help out just make sure you whatever resources you have, all right. Coles is closing twenty seven stores, of course more than a dozen states as they're looking to profitability.
They're closing a bunch of Macy's.
Yeah.
I've just read about the like sixty four Macy's.
Yeah.
Also, and they've been closing Macy's down and Macy's in Brooklyn. That was for me growing up. That was one of our hallmarks. Right, that's shut.
Down, man.
They're closing one by me too.
So they expect these Coals closures to be completed by April. But they do have eleven hundred and fifty stores, so these are gonna be twenty seven stores closing out of those, these are the ones that are underperforming. And they said that Coles continues to believe in the health and strength of its profitable store base.
So what happened to the game? I love? It's over?
What does that mean? What does that mean?
The closing down stores?
Man?
Like, man, remember those days of going to like a Macy's, a Coal's, even a and.
S man party city closed down?
What's happening?
I'm not gonna lie.
I went to a party city near me to see, like, Okay, well, it wasn't no good sale.
Though.
I thought everything was gonna be like must go, but it wasn't like that at all. All right, well, that is you're under the radar, and now we do have the way up mixed coming at the top of the hour. Plus Tretch is going to be joining us. His nephew is rapping. His name is money x okay, and he's taking it seriously.
Now.
I guess you know, growing up he always wanted to do it, but he was in and out of trouble. Now he's focused and treaches your uncle. So hey, that should help. That should all right? Well that is again under the radar. Way up makes it the top of the hour.
Let's go.
She's like the like they Angela Jean, like they Angelie Jean.
And she's spilling it all.
This is yet way up.
All right, it's way up at Angela. Yee my gout beat outs here we beat us.
I'll be all right.
Well here's some good news.
It looks like wife and Lucie is going to be released from prison sometime this month. So learned the Road supposted it, she says. She confirmed the reports. A source close to him said he'll be released any day now and his teams literally are checking their phones daily for the call.
Let's see if you can stay out.
Yes, I did an amazing sit down interview with him during the pandemic. He flew out here and did it. And when I tell you, you'll understand a lot when you watch an interview or him talking about how even like driving in a car and having his kids with him, didn't feel safe, like you don't know what's going to happen, you know, But yes, be glad to have wife and Lucie home all right. Redman revealed that he went celibate for more than two years. He was on ambrosia for heads, and he was going through a divorce that lasted seven years, and that's why it took so long for him to put out Muddy Waters too. He said he had a lot on his plate. Here's what he said.
I was going through such a divorce that lasted seven years. I had so much of my plate and I actually fasted two years and a half, no no smoking, and it was the best thing I could have ever done in my life, and it cleared out so much distractions.
I've been celebrated since twenty twenty four.
Oh so for a few days.
You know, my birthdays is Friday, so I guess I'll be a forty zero version this seventeen.
Yeah, yes, you're in Dan and our producers have the same birthday. Pretty B says that she went four year celibate also, and b Simon's on year two of celibacy.
It's a new thing to do, guys.
If that's about choice.
Of course it is.
You don't think that any woman, if they felt like it, they could have sex. No, that's a lie. You must not know standards here. Well, of course we have standards. That's why we don't just have sex. You mean the guys have yes.
Whatever.
Anyway, speaking of relationships and all of that, uh easy. The Black Captain is saying that men are jealous of him because he got the lady he has ready mind. Here's what he had to say on Instagram.
This is really mad.
I just want one will to just keep it a beam and tell you, yo, we're mad that you got rim and we did.
That's what is as mad as damn. You know what Pat Poos and Remy were like Luke and Laura. You know, it's like what happened to black love? Is anything sacred? Anymore.
You know, Remy Mat looks good though, and I will say guys always have a crush on Remy Ma. So maybe people, I'm sure people are like, you know, as a guy, like, how do you get her?
You know how y'all been thinking that?
How you get home?
So y'all' that's jealousy.
Right, yeah, it is jealousy. Let's player hating.
All right, Well, that is your ut when we come back. Ask Ye eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty call us up any question. We're here to help you out. That's ask Ye eight hundred two ninety two fifty one.
Fifteen A good six.
Whether it's relationship or career advice. Angela's dropping facts.
This is ask what's up his way up at Angela?
Yee, I'm here with my guy beat acts right, and we have someone on the line who wants to remain anonymous for ask Ye.
So what is your question for ask Ye?
I'm asking you from South Carolina. When I was younger, I just had like a couple of my family members, female and male, molest me and stuff do stuff to me, make me do stuff to them, and stuff like that. And I didn't realize how much it damage was then like me trying to be with my baby mother.
I just feel like the things that happened.
To me at the childe are you very hyperfectual, right, And it's hard for me to just because I never seen none of my family members with table relationship, and it's making it real hard.
Well, first of all, I'm so sorry that happened to you. That is not your fault. I commend you for recognizing what your problems are and identifying them and knowing where that stems from, because even that's not easy and people struggle with these secrets for so long.
Have you shared this with your significant other?
Yeah?
I told her, you know. She basically told me when you ready, you know, maybe confronted people that did it to you. And I told my mom and my aunt. They couldn't believe it, you know, so they like, well, we don't want you to just go and run up in their face and be like, bro, you know that you did to me, because it could start a big argument, a big fight, whatever, it might beet hurt, whatever.
Do you have any relationship with the people that did this to you?
Not as much as I did when I.
Lived back home, because I do want to say a few things. One, it is important who you tell, and it feels like the people who are around you who you have told, have all been supportive and want you to get the help that you need. And that's important right as a first step, and so that can help you on that path toward healing. But you do need more expert help like sexual abuse therapy that helps you understand and learn about what happened to you and give you ways that you can manage what it is that you're feeling and how to deal with it. And I would definitely say because I'm not an expert in that, and we definitely want to point you in the right direction so that you can actually talk to somebody.
That that's the crazy part. I've been trying to figure it out. I've been trying to I've been self medicated myself, but it pass what ten, twelve, fifteen years. I really don't know how I been.
I just been going, all right, Well, I definitely want to get you some help, and I want to say first thing you should do talk to the National Sexual Assault Hotline that numbers eight hundred sixty five six.
Hope that is all confidential.
It can also connect you where resources specific to your area and get you the local support that you need.
It doesn't even matter how long ago this happened.
Like I said, it is quite normal for people to not deal with this until later in life when they realize how it's affecting them. So everything that you've been going through is not your fault. And I feel like you've done some great strides towards figuring out how you can heal from the trauma that happened to you. And now let's take it to the next level where you actually talk to somebody who is an expert that can get you in contact with those resources. I do have a therapist who we work with up here too, so I'm going to have my producer get your information so we can link you. I think you're doing great as far as the steps of being able to communicate with people, and now I want you to get the real tools that you need that can help you get on that path toward healing.
Okay, I definitely want you, all.
Right, hold them, We're going to get your information and I want to link you with somebody else too, but I want you to call that hotline to day. All right, We love you, Thank you for talking to that was ask ye eight hundred two nine two fifty one fifty. I really hope that he gets what he needs to continue on his journey of healing, honestly, like something that wasn't your fault that happened to you, but to survive that and then we want you to thrive. All right, Well, when we come back, Trench is going to be joining us from Naughty by Nature alongside his nephew money X.
It's way up this, yeah, yeah, I'm more way up with Angela on now what what's up?
Its way up with Angela yee.
And we have a legend and a legend in the making here with me today. We got Trench from Naughty by Nature and we got money.
X all the way up.
I feel like we have like history because when I was young, I lived in Brooklyn. We moved to Jersey when I was in tenth grade, and when I moved there, Naughty by Nature was like the biggest group on the planet. And I just remember like it was every house party taken up and guys showing up a machetes everywhere.
Oh yeah, oh yeah. I remember Boogie Land that was a.
Block away from where my parents live. Kg's house. He used to have the cookouts we were young. We climbed over the gate. We were in those parties.
You were sneaking in Brooklyn all with you to Jersey listen.
I had to walk down the block and then me and my friends it was like three of us. It's our girls, so and we would just like go to the back there was like a little side gate and hop over the gate and just smooth our clothes out and then act like we've been there.
And I was like, come on, wow.
Y'all here this see.
I told you see it gets way up up there and tell you that's crazy.
And y'all recently reunited again, and why do you and Benny fall out?
Get back and fall out? Like what is it? Because y'all both individually are so cool.
I can't even a business certain business. It's like a lot of things with Naughty by Nature came. Always was like we're gonna vote on it, but it'll be a two to one. I'm the one, you know what I'm saying, not the two. I'm not the two. So it's like we cooling everything. But it's just business. One day for a get back to get back, but right now we're just doing our individual stuff.
But you'll did spontaneously hit the stage.
I mean, what happened there?
What happened was you know, we in the same spot everything else. It was an event for miss Jones and she's seeing us there. A lot of artists was there and they was performing for her. She said, no, did y'all come up here? And it's like yeah. And another time it was like played out with Latifa when she did rock the bell. You can't say, you know, that's okay. Wein mad today.
Right now, I am talking to Tretch the legendary Church from Naughty by Nature. All right, now, I want to ask you this too, because I told you I've seen Queen Latifa at the Brooklyn Nest game. What I love is the fact that I used to see her like as flavor unit with all these guys, but she was like a boss.
Yeah you know, yeah.
How do you think that affected, like even some of the decisions that you made or even how you viewed women seeing having a woman that was like a boss, because that's kind of a rare thing in this music business.
It was so just different on the business level because we knew each other and was friends, then came into the business. She was like like the head of the charge, and it was like fun to us because it was like, who this girl with these thirty forty homies coming up in here and no, Yo, that's flavor in it, that jersey, and it was just like lit was always the sensible mind of everything.
We was wild and anything else. She'll be the one yo.
Yo, y'all got to chill and she would teach us the whole game while we're doing. She's not just going to be like I'm managing. She's like, look, come here, look at this paperwork. Look how it's front. It was never like I'm the boss and y'all gonna do this and that We was like, Yo, she's dropping jews and teaching us along the way. I just think like she really was one that opened the doors to show a lot of females like, oh yeah, you can be running your own companies. You can be out here in this industry and you could do it the right way. You don't see nobody running around like Yo. Lo did us long Yo.
We had to go to court, We had to fight for this. We had to yo a lot.
Did the business a whole different way than business was being done.
Love him Tretch is here and we are talking to him. We got more with him when we come back. It's way up with angela ye.
You want to know my name?
Way up with angela Ye?
Give it up for naughty by Nature? What's up? A way up with Angela yee?
And Tretch is in the building alongside his nephew money X. You've been on TV and even like doing reality television. For some reason, I always used to think like Tretch would be the type of person that would not ever put his life out there like the first one.
Like I said, a couple's therapy. You know, been with my wife, We've been together eighteen years. She's like, we need therapy. I'm like, man, I ain't not paying nobody to go up in there and talk. And usually they gonna take the woman's side and all.
That, but we're usually write yeah, yeah, don.
Don don waking news false.
That is fix flagrantly fiction. You got a text, I said, let me figure out how we could do this. So I started hit my management at the time and everything. I'm like, yo, boom. There was like, you know, what's a couple's therapy show that you could actually go on and get paid for it.
I'm like.
That was like the first taste of reality and I was like, yeah, to save my relationship, I'll.
Go and do that.
So your relationship was you feel like like it need.
Definitely And at the end of it it looked like it was over for us anyway, but we came home and fixed it and all that. So I was like, Yo, reality shows may be cool. So that's when oh Lord, my daughter came to me just and it was growing up hip hop with my ex wife as a producer.
It sounds like a setup.
It was thank you. And then that's when I went on there.
I said, I never do reality show again unless it's my own situation on the show or I'm just producing it.
Right now, I am talking to Tretch the legendary Church from Naughty by Nature. What did you learn from your first marriage that you you.
Know, don't get married?
I mean everything, even if it doesn't work out, it is a learning experience.
It wouldn't be compatible for me to marry somebody or get serious with somebody in the industry that traveled just like I did. Always out boom boom boom, boom boom. Because sometimes some women when they get out there boss and they don't boss like Latifa, they boss like.
A dictator, thank you, Okay, Like.
I'm hot at the hottest some people at the hot Yeah, like yo.
It funt like a power couple. I remember that seeing that and being like, all right, power couple.
Yeah.
She was powering her way to pull pants up. She wanted to wear pants and a dress. I'm like, homie, homie, she talking to me like a dude.
I'm like, but she did come to your wedding, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, so she was invited.
I tried the men stuff, okay.
I mean she kept taking shots that affect.
Your parenting because sometimes when the parents don't get along, it affects your relationship, like with your daughter.
Because a lot of things was going on.
I felt like like my daughter was far of set up, especially on the show promoting the propaganda her mother was doing, and it crushed me.
And then she got with this dude she married, okay, and that you know.
Yeah, that was a real crazy storyline. Yeah, are they still married?
Yeah?
Do you ever communicate with them or him, or well, your daughter but not him. That's disappointing to be a father and not be in agreeance with who your child marries. That's a hard thing, but she's an adult and has decisions that she has to make on her own, and that's something else.
Like the reality show destroyed that because I became a producer as well, so I would hear stuff and see stuff that was filmed before would hit the table and like this homie said this about me when I'm supporting him and Da Da Da and Bonoma.
Oh so Tretch.
Recently, you said that you're going to do your solo album, which you've never done before.
Why did you wait so long? Why didn't you do it back then?
Because I was all a team player, like I'm like, it's gonna be Look, I wrote anything but K and Vin they got published. I should have, but no regrets, regrets and I could still do it now and then I am doing it and I think I'm even doper now. I got a project with my homie Jay Wess. We got like a double album worth of stuff with collaborations with.
Nineties era artists.
