In this episode, we dive deep into authenticity off the yoga mat, and Kat shares her wisdom on embracing vulnerability to live in a way that is uniquely you.

Kat’s mission in life is to understand how we can navigate thoughts inside our heads, namely the limiting ideas, beliefs and stories that keep us from expressing our true, authentic selves. 

In our conversation, we discuss the negative rhetoric we so often speak over our lives, how it prevents us from really listening to our intuition and stops us from going after things that matter most. Kat shares her wisdom on how to break through negative thinking, and how this has enabled her to truly express her authentic self. 

Living authentically means not attempting to be a carbon copy of anyone else - it’s finding acceptance of your own uniqueness and committing to the forever dance of becoming your less edited self. Kat describes how identifying where in your life you’re lessening yourself or overcompensating is powerful in finding your connection to authenticity. 

Kat speaks on the work of self-inquiry to understand our own behaviours and invites us to get curious about what’s really going on inside us. Why did you feel the need to act that way? What was it about that environment? What’s the story behind your reaction to that person? 

We discuss some of the common barriers to being authentic, such as comparing ourselves, projecting the stories in our heads onto others and not being real in order to be liked. 

Embracing your uniqueness is deep work, and there are days you might want to throw in the towel. But like yoga, authenticity is a lifelong practice. Knowing this will allow you to find the patience and self-compassion needed to continue on the path to finding your most authentic self.
