We’ve been talking a lot about the Martuwarra as the West Australian government prepares to decide on water allocations in the Fitzroy Valley catchment.

Several cattle stations in the region, including Gogo, Liveringa and Fossil Downs, want to take billions more litres of water from the Margaret and Martuwarra and its tributaries for cropping.

Recently, we heard from Phil Hams, the Development Manager at Gogo Station, just outside Fitzroy Crossing.

We ventured out with Gooliyandi Rangers who are still celebrating the creation of the new Warlibirri National Park, which takes in areas of the Margaret River on Gooniyandi country.

We also heard from our own Natalie Davey, a Bunuba custodian who presents Wangki Radio’s morning language program ‘Danggujarra’ – with her father Bullen Rogers.

Today, we hear from Environs Kimberley, who have been working closely with local Traditional Owner groups to block plans to develop the heritage listed river system.
