Three unlikely best mates bring mātauranga Māori and Western wellbeing into the same conversation - questioning what we’ve been taught and what actually works in real life. This episode we kōrero about Māori approaches to hauora (wellbeing), the importance of collective wellbeing, and how whanaungatanga might be one of the most underrated things we have.

Brady and Krissy reflect on growing up in te ao Pākehā and finding their way to te ao Māori later in life, while Tati shares the sacredness of tangihanga and what grief teaches us about showing up for each other when life gets heavy.

We also get into Brady’s Most Average Boy award 🏆, perfectionism, raising brave girls, and the fine line between manaakitanga and people pleasing.

Krissy shares the story of escaping a wellness retreat, Brady opens up about feeling judged in a supposedly inclusive spiritual space, and reveals what happened when he tried frog poison and ayahuasca in the jungle. Tati calls out TikTok’s clean girl aesthetic and makes a big confession.

We unpack what happens when ancient wisdom gets repackaged and sold back to us, and how others profit from making us feel like we’re never enough. Drawing on our experiences working with rangatahi, we explore the pressure to buy our way into feeling whole, the difference between individual wellbeing and collective hauora Māori, and the importance of the people around us.
