START foundation empowers amputees in life through sport, by providing grants to purchase sports prosthesis or adaptive equipment, to help them achieve their sporting dreams. START foundation partnered with Your Time Matters (YTM) to fund a grant for Sara Shams to purchase prosthetic running blades.

Sara is a bilateral through knee amputee, who shares her personal story of losing her legs at the age of six. Through the love and support of those around her, she has been able to achieve so much in life so far.

Sara was interviewed by journalist and co-director of Written & Recorded Serpil Senelmis at a YTM network function that explored the topic of Teamwork & Collaboration. Throughout this interview, Sara talks candidly about growing up without the use of her legs, the challenges of learning how to walk with prosthesis, her career as a pharmacist and more recently, learning how to run for the first time.

For Sara, the key to her success so far has been teamwork and collaboration; a formula that enables goals to be achieved together!
