VSiN PrimeTime | Hour 3 | January 30, 2025

Published Jan 31, 2025, 4:01 AM

In this hour of VSiN PrimeTime, Tim Murray and Matt Youmans discuss receiving props ahead of Super Bowl LIX. Plus, Eli Hershkovich joins the show to discuss this weekend's college basketball action.

This is vsin prime time live from the Circus Sportsbooking Downtown Las Vegas on vsin the Sports Betty Network.

Our three of vsin prime time. We've got a big ten showdown as eighteenth ranked Illinois on the road at Nebraska and currently Nebraska with a sixteen to fifteen lead over the aligne. I will talk more college hoops. Very good card on Saturday, as we've got a bunch of big games, including.

The return of John Calipari to rupp Arena, and we'll hear from Rick.

Bettina as he gave a little psa earlier today on social media regarding what those Kentucky fans should do when Calipari returns to the rop Arena.

Right, they should boo for their lack of NCAA tournament's success under coach cal for the last seven or eight years, and also because he bailed and went to Arkansas and took a bunch of Kentucky players with him.

Yeah, I think they got the better of that deal.

I do too, Mark Pope. It was good, good trade for those on the Lexington side of it. But now I would not expect coach cal to get a standing ovation. It's probably going to be a mix of some people cheering, some heckling, and that's probably the way it should be. You know, on some v SIN shows here in the past and some other shows in the past two or three weeks, I actually have touted Rick Patino's team Saint John's as a future that you can get now because I've had the question from some people who have been betting football and just trying to get into college hoops.

Now what I call parachuting in.

Yeah, right, where's the value on the college basketball futures board at this point? Well, if you're talking about Laren shots, how about Saint John's team. That's the top the Big East standings. You've got a coach, you can get you to the Final four, got better and guards got good size. I really liked the talent on that Saint John's team, and bet MGM had Saint John's sixty to one two days ago. You can readily find fifty to one out there at most books. I bet this is eighty to one. I think in late April, I like the way that Rick Patino's roster was coming together. But that's one long shot I think is playable right now. If you're looking for something by the way, I think Saint John's ranked fifteenth. I'm not sure what it is in ken Palm, the fifteenth and ap pole, and I think that's legit.

I think this is a fifteenth in Ken Palm, fourth in defensive efficiency. Let me ask you this from a future standpoint, what would you rather do from your future's portfolio? So you mentioned Saint John's fifty to one, they're eleven to one at DraftKings to make the final four? Would you prefer to have all your eggs in the win the national title basket? Obviously I take bigger payday.

Yeah, I take the eighty to one ticket that I've got because when you get to the final four and then you're gonna have a chance to.

At Josh Sure.

Saint John's, by the way, to your point, has been red hot. They have won seven straight and they play Providence on Saturday at home at Madison Square Garden. Really good one next Tuesday night as they welcome in Marquette to the Garden. That'll be a fun one there. Shaka Smart's team has turned it around here a little bit after some sluggish games. They had lost it to Paul excuse me, one and overtime against the Paul lost to Xavier, have turned it around one three straight, including a thirteen point win at home over Villanova. Another Big East good one on Saturday as Marquette welcomes Yukon to town and Yukon it has not been easy there for the Huskies. They did ultimately get the win. We were watching that game last night as Yukon was down eight at the break to De Paul as a thirteen and a half point favorite, and then it looked like, for a moment, the Huskies might actually get the cover. De Paul ultimately did cover the thirteen and a half, but Yukon gets to win.

They're a tough team to kind of figure out.

It does feel like Leah McNeely, the freshman phenom, should be back. I don't know if he'll be back on Saturday, but could be returning at some point here in the near future. But the Big East always a fun conference, one of my favorite conferences to watch and handicap and right now, Matt, when you look at that conference, you've got Marquette and Saint John's both nine and one in conference play, and then not too far behind is Creighton. Creighton, they remember they lost to Georgetown, right around Christmas time and since then they've they've been playing some really good basketball.

The Creighton Blue Jays.

Maybe not as good as they have been in recent years, but still a pretty strong program there for Greg McDermott veteran team, Steven Ashworth, the former Utah State guard, and then Ryan Kolkbrenner, who's been in college for I think about a decade and a half there in Omaha.

He had a couple wins over Yukon in the last calendar year two.

They were the last team to beat them.

Last year, Yeah, Hurley went to Omaha and got punked by Creighton. Remember he got Taunon on the way out of the arena. Well he rebound him from that pretty well, and Creighton beat Yukon again this year. You know, last night I was looking at that, and you guys probably talked about it on the show. When Yukon was down last night. That was a great spot to jump in my betting because you knew Danny Hurley was going to bring that team back last night.

I think they were at halftime we had talked about it. I did not I had a good in game betting day yesterday, but I did not get.

Down on Yukon.

The halftime number was when DePaul was up eight at the break, they were a two and a half point dog, and you could have laid it and easily won that bet there as Yukon ultimately ran away and hid in that contest. Coming up in just a matter of moments, we'll see Memphis take the floor against Tulane. We saw a little bit of two lane money hit the market here in as this team is going to close five and a half down there in New Orleans. So right now, five and a half the number for Memphis and laying our game in the night that we are going to continue to keep our eyes on. We've got Oregon and UCLA. Eli Hirshkovich is going to jump on the program coming up later on in the hour.

He'll give us some thoughts on this game.

You mentioned it, Matt, I think off air, but we were looking at the board back here and we saw some money come in on the Bruins. So at circa, Ucla now laying five against the Oregon Ducks with a ten thirty eastern tip at poly Pavilion.

Yeah, and there has been a slight move in the market toward Ucla in this game. Tonight, so I would say the late moves are more important than the early wins tim and the previous game Ucla. There's a lot of money. We came in late on the Bruins against usc even though UCLA's leading scorer was out ten minutes before tip off. It was a late move on UCLA, and I looked at it on the screen and said, damn, I bet that means UCLA is the right side. Guess what. The Bruins had the game basically wire to wire and took out you see. We'll see if anything happens before tip tonight. We're still about about an hour and a half away from tipping the Oregon Ucla game, but looks like a little bit of move toward UCLA in the in the market tonight.

A couple of NBA games to note, as we still have three games to tip off in the Association. Coming up nine thirty Eastern to the bottom of the hour. Memphis out to a four and a half five point favorite against the Houston Rockets. Jahn Morant, I don't know. I don't know if he was officially ruled out.

Let me double check that I thought he was.

So they were waiting to see whether or not he would ultimately be ruled in or out, but I believe he is.

Yes, he is out as the Grizzlies.

Pr has announced that so Jah Moran out tonight dealing with shoulder soreness, but the numbers still moving up towards Memphis. Four and a half point favorites are the Memphis Grizzlies in that one the two games going on as we speak, Matt the Lakers an easy win and looks to be cover over the Washington Wizards. As that number moved out to eight and a half. You could have laid five and a half overnight with the Los Angeles Lakers and they're going to cruise to a victory over the worst team in the NBA, with the soon to be six and forty one Washington Wizards not too good. The Cleveland Cavaliers the best team in the Eastern Conference. They're going to get a win and cover over the Cleveland over the Atlanta Hawks. It seems they're up one twenty nine to one oh nine Orlando and Portland. Later tonight, Orlando laying five and a half in Utah catching six at home against the Minnesota Timberwolves. That game about to tip off here in just a matter of multi.

Hey, what's worth updating? Illinois off to a really slow start here against Nebraska. Gordon Husker's up twenty to fifteen, about eight and a half minutes to go in the first half, and then Nebraska now a one and a half point underdog for the game. Tim the and I have I think kind of hit a a loll here. I would say kind of a swamp here in the past week and a half. Yep, you know, I know, before Illinois played at Michigan State, I must say a week and a half ago, tom Izzo said it's like we've got the Lakers or Celtics coming in here this weekend. By the way Illinois had been playing, and that was after the Alliini beat Oregon one oh nine to seventy seven on the road, went to Indiana's Assembly Hall, blew out the Hoosiers and scored sixty points in the first half. Since that first half at Indiana, this Illinois team has not been that sharp. But right now, Nebraska on top twenty to sixteen. It was about eight minutes ago before the break.

And once again the big fella out for Illinois dealing with Mono Thomas Slass Ivasitch.

Feels like that makes a big difference, right because the lack of rim defense, just a lack of interior scoring. Illinois without him seems to be primarily a jump shooting team.

Yeah, and you know we're keeping eyes on this game. We're watching it here and keeping an eye on the in game market.

Matt, I don't know.

If I'm racing to take Illinois here in game at this spot on the road. Look, you know I said last week Nebraska was desperate against USC. Well they may have been, but they didn't look it as they got beat by USC by six and what I thought was a pretty good spot. So you know, this is no doubt a desperate spot for Nebraska. You still could get Nebraska plus one thirty on the money line plus two and a half in game. You know, we'll see how this game plays out here. But without the big fella for Illinois. You know, it's frustrating because as you and I watched the Maryland Illinois game last week here in studio Maryland with Julian Reese and Derek Queen, they just attacked at the rim and we should have seen that and said this is a clear spot. And I jumped in in game on Illinois, thinking, all right, they're going to bounce back here at home down six. Nope, Maryland ran away with that one. So we'll see how Illinois responds here. But right now, from an in game standpoint, Nebraska plus one ten nearing the under eight media timeout twenty to seventeen, Cornhuskers.

With the lead over the align.

I we'll hear from Andy Reid regarding his superstar tight end on the other side of the break. But just a reminder, The vsin Watch app right now completely free. Get it wherever you download your apps. You can check it out in the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, So make sure you get it out. You can watch all of your shows, listen to all your programs, podcasts. We've got it all on our apps, so make sure you download it wherever you get your apps. That's Matt Humans, I'm Tim Murray. More thoughts on Super Bowl fifty nine. We hear from the head coach, Andy Reid of the Kansas City Chiefs.

Next, this is V said primetime on the Sports Betty Network.

It is vsin prime time alongside Matt Ewmans, I'm Tim Murray, as we keep our eyes on what's happening across the NBA and college hoops.

Maybe an upset bruin Dylan Riola.

No, no, that's Patrick Mahomes. No, no, Maholmes is at the Illinois Nebraska basketball game.

Oh interesting, he stopped by there before heading down to New Orleans. He would think that he wouldn't, but no, there he is Patrick Mahomes aka Dylan Riyola.

Twenty to twenty.

The score at Pinnacle Bank as Nebraska and Illinois tied up at twenty apiece. Right now, the in game number on Nebraska and Illinois sits at I believe hold on, let me double check there. It is three and a half right now plus one fifty. If you think Nebraska.

Will win this one. This game closed at four.

Four and a half, five in favor of the Nebraska excuse me, in favor of the Illinois A line.

I one thing to mention here, and I we're talking about how they're so reliant on jump shots. How about one for thirteen from three And actually that's a good sign that you're one for thirteen from three and you're tied at twenty.

With six and a half minutes ago, So maybe that does actually lean towards looking at the ALIGNI to take care of this one and come back to win. Also worth noting, and they just flashed us on the broadcast, and I'll bring it to the airwaves with some hard data, which is Nebraska the three point field goal percentage against thirty four percent, just two hundred and sixth in the nation. So opponents more often than not are shooting at a pretty high clip against this Nebraska defense, and hasn't been the case so far tonight. So we'll see how this evening unfolds out there in Lincoln. Once again, Nebraska has dropped six in a row. Here a two point lead right now over the ALIGNI six and a half minutes to go in the opening half there of this big ten showed out earlier tonight, it was a loser for me as Penn State did not come to play at Wreck Hall as they got blown out Rye Ohio State.

Never made a run in the second half, and you would think, typically the home team went off as a favorite, it's going to make a run in the second half. Ten It never happened, No.

It did not.

They trailed by ten at the break, they got outscored by nine in the second half. Every which way it was Ohio State's night. They win eighty three to sixty four. So the Nitney Lions, who opened two and a half point favorites, closed three and a half point favorites, get blown out on their home floor twenty four to twenty two. The score right now, Nebraska leading Illinois. Our game of the night, UCLA and Oregon right now, market tending trending towards UCLA out to a five point favorite a number of these shops, Matt. So you've got the sixteenth ranked team in the country in Oregon now catching five against the UCLA team that you pointed out earlier in the show.

This is you would think.

Maybe a bit of a revenge spot for the Oregon Ducks. They lost as a three and a half point favorite earlier this season the UCLA. But the way the Bruins have been playing.

You would think the market is leaning on and believing in the UCLA Bruins. Here in this spot.

Yeah, it was a two point game first time around. We watched that out here in the circuit book that day in Oregon kind of blew the game UCLA. Was it seventy three seventy one? Yep, And Bruins have really responded to Mick Cronin's criticism when he said, we've got a bunch of soft players, and he threw his players under the bus. They've won four in a row. I can't lay three and a half or four. I kept five. I couldn't even lay three and a half. I couldn't lay five with UCLA in this game tonight. Typically, I liked the team in the revenge situation and a when you're talking about one of the better teams and conference, and that's what we thought was right one of the better teams in the Big Ten. Not sure if that's true anymore. But you know, Tim, losing at Minnesota is not a disgrace because the Gophers are playing better and the Ducks are off that loss at Minnesota. But I don't have a strong opinion on this game. And the way colle hoops handicapping has been going for me the last couple of days, I decided to sit this one out. Maybe we'll see an opportunity in live betting they grab something tonight, But right now, Nebraska on top of Illinois twenty six twenty two.

Illinois once again now one for fourteen.

From three, shooting out like the Tennessee balls.

Yeah, it is. It has not been pretty. We'll talk more about the weekends.

Lee.

Actually, Nebraska has now flipped to the favorite. Yeah, Nebraska up twenty seven to twenty two, is a one and a half point favorite at DraftKings.

So we'll keep our eyes on this one. About to get underway, actually just did get underway. Memphis is at to Lane, Memphis coming in as the eighteenth ranked team in the country. They currently trail to Lane nine to eight. That one early we saw money come in on on TWU Lane, the Green Wave where a seven point dog overnight close five and a half right now sits four and a half in favor of the Memphis Tigers on the road down there at TWU Lane. And then late night tonight ten thirty Eastern start Pauli Pavilion, Ucla taking on Oregon. Right now that number at a number of shops out to UCLA five. If you still like the Bruins minus four and a half out there at a number of shops, including DraftKings, Nebraska leading by six. We'll keep our eyes on this one against the fighting a line. I as a turnover here for Illinois gives the ball back to the Cornhuskers, who have lost six and a row. Matt Andy Reid headed to another Super Bowl as the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs. Travis kelce trying to win Super Bowl number four as a member of that trio that triumpherate right there with Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelcey, and Andy Reid. Andy Reid earlier on his tight end. Travis Kelcey.

Yeah, listen, he's a great player, and he's got guys around him. Now we're a little bit healthier, and so all these defensive coordinators are whole focus isn't on just Trav and stop and trave and so it frees him up a little bit. He hasn't changed anything from before. I mean, he can still do all the same things, but he's got a couple of guys on. Then you go a different direction and have to work another area. But he's he's still really a good football player, keeps himself in great shape, never wants to miss a rep and practice. Hates coming out of the game, I mean absolutely hates coming out of the game, and so.

I love that part of him.

He's one of our team captains. Been voted that for in the last how many every years here and just does it get all around job.

There, Travis kelce that courtesy by the way of the Pat McAfee show.

There Andy Reid.

Probing about that. I don't watch the Pat McAfee show. But you got that screen set up where it's in thirds, Ye McAfee on the left, Andy Reid in the middle, and then that's what aj Hawk on the right. Yeah, I never see aj Hawk talk talk.

No, I'm surprised that SNL hasn't done a skit on it where it's just his Ajhawk sitting there, because I don't think he talks ever.

He's got the microphone. He just sits there and goes the whole time. I'm not sure. I don't watch it much, but i've seen the highlights or I've never seen the guy talk.

I agree with you.

It's a good gig if you can get it, I guess you know. So Travis kelcey over under heading into the AFC Championship Game got his high At least I saw it at stations here in Las Vegas seventy three and a half. I think the consensus was like seventy and a half, and we had talked about it. It had been fourteen straight games in the postseason in which Travis Kelsey had gone over that number.

That's fourteen out of fifteen.

Two catches, nineteen yards against the Buffalo Bills, and now, Matt, I've seen an adjustment in the market from seventy and a half seventy one and a half. Somewhere in that ballpark. It's almost dropped a full ten yards at DraftKings right now, as we're going to show you the graphic here, it's actually dipped down another yard sixty two and a half. So Travis Kelcey has been a very profitable player when you play his player props over in the postseason until this most recent game. What do we expect from Kelsey against the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl?

I don't know, but I can tell you that last week I thought the Bills did a great job bracketing Kelsey and coverage he didn't. What do you how many targets do you have? Not many? Three targets? Two catches last week?

Yeah?

And I played two props in that game, Kelsey over his receiving yard saying, hey, let's go ahead and play the trend. No chance. And the other was Josh Allen over Russian attempts, which got there over nine and a half. He got there with eleven, but the Kelsey prop had no shot. You gotta think Vic Fangio, who's an outstanding defensive coordinator, is going to come with a similar game plan here. Timmy cannot let Travis Kelce beat you in the middle of the field. That's inexcusable. And I'm a little hesitant here to play the Kelsey prop over though. I think you're going to hear some people make an argument now that this is a bi loo opportunity, right, you.

Would think possibly, But still from a numerical standpoint, sixty two and a half probably still high. The last time you faced the Philadelphia Eagles and the Super Bowl, the Kelce Bowl two years ago, six catches, eighty one yards and a touchdown for Travis Kelce. There, Hey, folks, are friends over at Express Bet have got a great deal going on right now with the promo code vsin two hundred, So make sure you head on over to first bet dot com to check out that that's the number one st bet dot com. I believe Christmas Serah Pro Sports Better from San Diego is on Illinois in some former fashion tonight. So check Twitter ten because you're probably gonna see an angry tweet coming in pretty soon about the Illini shooting it from three point range. I believe right now Illinois one still one for fourteen from three down eight eight in the first half.

And right now Nebraska, we will give you that live line as we go to break here.

It has not been a pretty start.

For Nebraska three and a half point favorite.

Buddy.

They closed in that one a five point home dog.

This is VSA Primetime on vsin the Sports Betty Network.

Is VS in primetime re live from the Circus Sportsbook in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. Eli Hirshkevich college hoops handicapper going to join us in fifteen minutes. Loaded up weekends Slate still have a game tonight our game of the night here. Ucla now a five point favorite at a number of shops against the Oregon Ducks, a couple of top twenty five teams in action right now, as both are trailing. Matt Twulane just took a seventeen to fifteen lead over the Memphis Tigers, that one with under ten minutes ago in the opening half.

And Illinois, I.

Can't say the word that you used during the break, but they don't look great and that would be putting it nicely here in this one, but a trail by seven, looks like they're reviewing whether we've got a goaltend on a on a foul call on a drive to the hoop for Nebraska. Nebraska right now an in game favorite against the Illinois fighting a lineup.

I think it should be a goaltend because the ball hit the glass. You see the layup of the glass, and.

It's going to be a goaltend to piss off of the.

Then it gets swatted by the defender. You cannot swat the ball after it hits the glass, so it's got to be a goaltend.

Nebraska right now a four and a half point in game favorite as this will count. The bucket will count for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Now, JVT not here tonight. He'll be back with you tomorrow, but worth updating one of jvt's favorite things to do, which is the Wisconsin Green Bay Phoenix.

How did they do tonight? Lost again?

Doug Gottlieb squad took on the Oakland Golden Grizzlies from last year's NCAA Tournament fame as Jack Goldki and company pulled off that upset over Kentucky and then lost in the second round in overtime to NC State. The Oakland Golden Grizzlies beat Green Bay sixty eight to fifty four, and depending on what shop you had, green Bay got the cover fourteen and a half.

But something that I know you and JV I think.

We're talking about last week is looking to fade this Green Bay team. In the second half. It was twenty nine twenty nine at halftime. Oakland outscored green Bay by fourteen in the second half. Wisconsin Wisconsin Green Bay now seven, fourteen and two. I believe against the spread depending on how you grade out.

Yeah, the state's game. This experiment with Doug Gottlieb radio host Slash college basketball coach has been god awful disaster for Green Bay ten. This program was pretty good not too long ago.

Were good last year Sundance Wicks.

He's now the head coach of Wyoming. I think they went eighteen and fourteen. They were the three seed in that conference. They have now lost eighteen straight games, including a loss to a Division two program in Michigan Tech, and they have two more road games. They will play Detroit Mercy on Saturday and then ip Fort Wayne a week from Saturday, where according to Ken Palm, they will be a seventeen point underdog in that one. So it is not gone all that well. But you know what, Matt, I'm sure things were great on his radio program today.

I'm not sure about that either because I don't like the radio show. But Tim, you talked about Jack Yelk. How great was that moment for him? It sucked for me because I had Kentucky futures last year. But Jack Yalkey, how great was that? A guy they said was going to be selling insurance hit ten threes in at Oakland victory over Kentucky. That was John cal Perry's last game with the Wildcats. But he is going to be back in Lexington this week. Arkansas, by the way, next to last in the SEC one conference, win one in six, only better than South Carolina. This is not what Arkansas fans a vision when they got coach cal from Kentucky.

Now, all that nil money, it has gone down the toilet there for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

As I look up what they are.

Against the spread, Matt five and fifteen ats one of the worst cover teams in all of college basketball. They're probably going to be a double digit dog on Saturday night there at Ropperina. Rick Patino he knows a thing or two about returning to Rupperena as a former champion of that Kentucky program, and mister Patino took the social media today to talk to Big Blue Nation and how they should welcome back their former coach John Calipari.

Hello, Big Blue Nation. I didn't steer you wrong with Mark Pope when I sent out that last video, and I certainly won't steal you wrong with this video. Toughest day of my coaching career at Louisville was when I had to walk into Rupperina. Tried not to show it, but when I went home, the reception it taught me up apart because I loved that place so much. And it's interesting because I speaking to Coolly just recently about Providence and he said he almost was brought to tears because of the bad feelings.

He got going back there. But this is different.

And as you all know, I'm not best friends with John cal Parry. I respect him certainly, but it was a mutual thing. The fans wanted a change. John read the tea leaves. He needed a change, and he really didn't want to leave. But what did he do for you? He brought the best talent in the history of the game of any university in America to Lexington. He also won a national championship. He also was his style of play was extremely entertaining. So he's coming back on Saturday, and I want all of you to show the great class that you have. Twenty three thousand plus people giving him a huge standing ovation, show him what respect and admiration's all about. I know you have the class I've always believed in.

You do it once.

Again, Matt, what price can I get on there?

On?

No?

On standing ovation?

Uh no, minus two thousand.

I think I'd lay it.

By the way, I went to be that high price. I don't even think you put the price up. It's now price.

But I went back and I looked up the December twenty ninth, two thousand and one.

The thing is to him, you will have some fans standing. You have to define the prop because something sure it will be standing and giving him anovation. Others will be booing. It's going to be a mix.

Now will they be standing and booing? Now that's the thing, you know.

I looked it up Rick Patino's return to roupp Arena December twenty ninth, two thousand and one. Kentucky beat Louisville eighty two to sixty two in that one, And I don't know, this is gonna be interesting one. We'll talk more about this with Eli Herskovich is. Look, Mark Pope is on a short list for National Coach of the Year consideration. He has been fantastic When you think about, as you you mentioned this earlier in the show, what left that program Kentucky and how you had to rebuild that roster. Now in the state of Kentucky, you could make a case for Pat Kelsey what he's done. Sure at Louisville, he's been fantastic, as well, but Kentucky's been a really fun team to watch. They're fifteen to five on the year. They've lost three games in conference play on the road at Georgia, lost a thriller at home to Alabama, and they lost that road game at Vanderbilt.

I don't know what this number is going to be.

Probably ten, ten and a half, that's what Ken Palm kind of has it projected. At Arkansas has a bit, a bit of a train wreck. They did loud, they did get their first win last Wednesday night in that crazy finish against Georgia. They will not be They will not have Boogie flanned. He is out for the year, their star freshman. Do you think this is a Chris Beard return to Texas Tech type of environment where you're gonna want to lay whatever with Big Blue Nation?

Not necessarily. I was on Kentucky a couple of nights ago as a ten point dog at Tennessee. I think Kentucky is going to be probably a ten point favorite right against Arkansas. I'm not going to be on the dog, let's put it that way. But again, I don't like to play those big favorites. Hey, I thought, speaking to Chris Beard, I thought ole Miss was going to run Texas out last night. It was a sloppy game and ole Miss was just some shoddy offensive play and shot selection. Ole Miss was lucky to get to win by three last night. So I don't typically like to lay these big numbers, but I will not be on the dog because, yeah, it's probably a little bit more likely that Kentucky wins big. Did Rick Patino get choked up early in that video? Did he sound like he was? Did he fake that? I don't know.

It did kind of seem like.

I just I love that that thick New York accent that Rick Patino has.

I feel like he's an Oscar winning actor. I think he faked getting choked up there. I did like. I did like the line where he said, as you know, I'm not good friends with coach Cal Perry.

I like these. He did one of these earlier in the off season.

I forget what it was about, but oh it was when Mark Pope got the job.

Oh yeah, Big Blue Nation gotta support Mark Pope.

Well. Mark Pope's been a perfect fit min a replacement car Kentucky. You cannot have hired a better coach to replace Cal he is.

He has done an incredible job rebuilding and roster on the fly. And boy, I think Big Blue Nation is UH is pretty happy with the off season and how it unfolded. There should be one of the should be a fun one on Saturday, one of a many of great games, including I'll say it, man, one of my favorite games each and every year is Gonzaga Saint Mary's. I love these showdowns. We'll get it on Saturday night. We'll talk more about that with Eli Hirskovich. He's going to join us here in less than five But just a reminder, folks, we've got our Super Bowl betting guide out right now. If you are a Vsin Pro subscriber, you get this bad boy. With your subscription, you get Super Bowl fifty nine previews, top trends, prop betting strategies, final score and MVP predictions from VSON hosts like me and Matt, who were identical on our prediction twenty four to twenty three. We did not share that information.

How cool would it be if we were right on the money? What did I say four.

And three to end the game?

We'll have to get you that exact prop for you, but we'll talk college hoops Oregon Ucla.

Eli Hirskoviitch joins us next.

This is VSA Primetime on VS in the Sports Betting Network.

It is VS in primetime. You're on a Thursday's evening alongside Matt Humans. I am Tim Murray. College hoops.

Right now, We've got a big one coming up in forty five minutes as Oregon visits Polly Pavilion to take on Ucla. Right now, market has moved a five. There's even juiced fives out there as money coming in on the UCLA Bruins. It is going to be a loaded weekend of college hoops. We were just talking about the return of John Calipari to Kentucky this weekend with the Arkansas Razorbacks likely a double digit dog in that spot. And to help us break down the weekend card, tomorrow's card even a little tonight, College hoops handicapper Eli Hirskovich joins this courtesy of our progressive guest line, Eli, I know you've got a pre flop bet on Nebraska, so being up nine and having the home dog is always a nice spot to be sitting in.

Looking at the second half.

Line in this one and how poorly Illinois had shot, you could lay five and a half with Illinois in the second half. Do you think you're going to try to middle it here after that poor shooting performance or sit back and have that nice tidy Nebraska plus sign on it as you head into the second half at Pinnacle Bank.

Yeah. Good to be out with you guys. Nothing better than sweat and Hoskers on a Thursday night, riding a six game losing streak.

On the half.

Still little sweaty, I will I will sit and ride with my corn Huskers in the second half. Illinois a completely different team without a Visitch in the lineup dealing with Mono or whatever sickness he has going on. And Bryce Williams and this Huskers offense has really opened up, especially with the Siegen shooting well in the first half. So I'll I'll take my pregame bat and let it ride.

Bryce Williams fifteen points at a half for Nebraska. Illinois started one for fourteen from three, is now three for eighteen from three at the half. Nebraska up forty to thirty one. I like your spot in that game. Let's keep it in the big ten for a minute. Friday night and Westlafayette, Indiana at Purdue. This is a big ten game on Fox, and a week ago Purdue blew out Michigan ninety one to sixty four in the same spotlight type of game.

I was actually at that game. I went to Mackie. I went to Maki last weekend, so that was a ton of fun. And like you said, Purdue laying a big number here, similar spot both teams getting some time off. Indiana losing a tough one at home against Maryland on Sunday. But this perdue defense, guys is very legit. Ever since they brought Cox the freshman into the starting lineup, Matt Painter for the first time in half a decade, really starting to pressure the basketball. Brady Smith also has been unleashed defensively. Still a big number though in a rivalry game, I would say the key for Indiana is can they get their ball screen offense going with Umar Ballow that has been animal are renew for that matter, since he came back a couple of games ago. That's the key for Indiana because Purdue Candy had with their ball screen offense, and then maybe it opens up Indiana's three pointed tackle, though they don't have a reliable three point shooting offense. But like I hit on from the get go, turnovers can be an issue for Indiana, not only because their guards are turnover prone because but also because Purdue is going to pressure the ball. So stay away game for me. But maybe a flight lean to Indiana just because of the spot and maybe they don't quit on Mike Woodson in a rivalry game.

Yeah. I thought twelve was a bit of a big number too. I was thinking nine and a half ten on this. When I saw twelve on the screen, I said, well, I might actually have to play the Hoosiers here. So Eli, let me ask you how you handicap this, because Indiana is off that fiasco at the finish against Maryland, and does do the Hoosiers respond? Do they bounce back off? How do you think they bounce back off that game? Because that was a very depressing way to lose that game to Maryland.

Yeah, and another game, I was at my friends and I made a Midwest college basketball road trip and I was literally watching Mike Woodson not go into the handshake line and at like he didn't know where he was walking, and Luke freaking good, he turns him around a sharpshooter off the bench to say, hey, they have some sportsmanship and go shake Kevin willards head. I was amazed watching that ad person. But yeah, I would say Sunday was the get right spot for Indiana. And it's not like they lost by four or five points. They covered the closing number of around four four and a half. They end up losing that game by a single point on the Ridney right three pointer with about five seconds left. So that's the telling sign of Okay, It's not like they lost by ten and the market is reacting to Indiana failing to cover the number. They covered the number, yet the number here is twelve. So like like you and I, I think Matt, you and I both have a similar angle on this robbery game. If Indiana keeps it tight, but if they get down ten twelve points in this one, I have questions about whether they're gonna quit Suaran Woodson. So that's that's why I want to stay away here.

College basketball analyst Eli Herskovich joining us Curtis, who.

Are progressive guest line.

Only a couple lines are out for this upcoming Saturday Slate fan duel has Arkansas right now catching eleven and a half at Kentucky double digits for Duke and North Carolina that thirteen and a half right now at FanDuel, a game that a lot of eyes will be on Auburn at Ole Miss Eli. Auburn gets the cover yesterday against LS. He wasn't the prettiest, but they ultimately get there. They get the cover, winning by thirteen.

John A.

Broom with a double double, yet again clearly not at one hundred percent health.

But Matt and I have been talking about it Ole Miss. Both Matt and I laid it.

We had some moneyline parlays, so at least we were able to get there with Old Miss, but probably going to be catching six or seven at home. We'll see what the market ultimately does with this one. But what's your thought right now of Auburn at Ole Miss on Saturday?

Yeah?

I like Ole Miss in this spot. I had a long stop future going back to the offseason on the Rebels with Chris Beard in his second year, bringing aboard Mark Adams, his former defensive coordinator, going back to his Little Rock days and at Texas Tech. So a, you're at home and it's sold out arena, So if that helps, just considering the spot Auburn also riding a twelve game winning streak. Another future I have going back to the offseason, but I'm still fading the Tigers here, even with jan I Broom back, just because ole Miss's no middle defense does a really good job of limiting post up opportunities. So while Auburn wants to run their offense through Broom, you're unable to attack the middle or at least catch the ball without a double or a trap. Even though ole Miss has defended the low posts also pretty well this season, they lack size with Malik Dia and Breakfield, so you would expect them to trap. And it's also a byproduct of their no middle defense. And along with that auburns guards, you don't have a true point guard to Hot Pettiford is a combo guard freshman. Both he and Denver Jones can struggle with their turnovers, so that can also play until ole missus ball pressure, which has always been a staple under Chris Beard. And then at the other end, you have a five out offense against the drop coverage defense, which and I Broom at the five. So I really like it if Malik d and Breakfield they're hitting their three This is all going to come down to ole missus big men for me, but matchup wise at both ends the floor. Also with the spot sold out pavilion, like I touched on, I'll take the points. I'll take two possessions with ole miss at home on Saturday for sure.

Yeah, I'm probably going to be an all miss in that game too. A week ago, Auburn beat Tennessee fifty three fifty one. I thought Bruce Pearl had a great comment after the game. He said Broom had a triple double. We would not have won the game without him. Sixteen points, fourteen rebounds and thirteen miss shots. They were not They would not have won that game without him. He laid thirty three minutes off the bench in that game against Tennessee a week ago. I'm with you. I like Beard and the rebels, but man, that was not easy last night against Texas and I had to sweat that one out just on the money line. Obviously didn't get to cover lane six. By the way, I mentioned the fiasco with the finish between Maryland and Indiana. Hoo'siers led that game by five with just over two minutes to go, and that was far from Mike Woodson's finest hour, including what he did in the post game. Hey, you mentioned I'm with you. I've got a future on ole miss back from the summer too, and I can't remember somewhere around eighty to one. What number do you have and do you have any other futures you're looking at right now, either to win the whole thing or a final four bet?

Yeah, so I have eighty five to one from circa see you and I are in the same boat there, love it, love it. I also have an Auburn future going back to April at around thirty five or forty one. So I'm very happy that my room's ankle injury wasn't worse than it worse than it seemed. And then Texas A and M to make the final four to twenty one and then one. I just added a last week before they beat Illinois. We touched on this off there before they beat Indiana and before they covered against Wisconsin. Last night, I bet Maryland twenty three to one to make the final four. You could still get twenty to one out there. I know. Kevin Willard has been a much maligned coach going back to Seaton Hall and especially last year with the terms. But this might be his best team, guys. I may even say better than what he had in the COVID year with Miles Powell and that Seaton Hall team Mamu keylash Viey really explosive led by Miles Powell. And you look at this defense fourth rated adjusted defensive efficiency and conference play. They have a stud two way point guard in Jacoby Gillespie from Belmont, who I love. Last year he was actually with Malik Dia at Belmont, And unlike last year, Maryland has shooting guys around Julian Reese, not only Reese, but Derrick Queen do it all, big man freshman. I think Maryland has an ultior high ceiling. I think they're the most talented team in the Big Ten, even though Michigan State is riding a big winning streak. Give me the the final.

Four, all right, all right, there is Eli Herskovich's great insight. There, Eli, always appreciate it. Man, we'll be talking soon, no.

Doubt I have a good right to the show.

There is Eli Herskovic. College hoops analysts.
