In this episode of Make It Rain host Adam Schein is joined by Nick Whalen, RotoWire, NBA Radio on Sirius XM, as they dive into the NBA slate for today. Also in the show, Adam breaks down the Super Bowl 59 matchup between the Chiefs and Eagles.

Welcome to Make It Rain with Adam A. Shine on p Sims the Sports Betty Himworks.

Ah Yes, Hella Friday Football Friday Edition to Make It Rain with that of Shina. My goodness. We have a lot to do today.

Obviously, it is the week in between the Championship Round and the Super Bowl in the National Football League, and we are going to have a tremendous news Notes, Nuggets and nightly Plays segment.

A lot of college hoops, a lot of NBA.

We have a lot of big picture plays, a lot of plays for the games tonight's and this weekend reaction, big picture for what transpired last night and the NBA in college basketball. We are going to give you NonStop takes, props, picks, predictions. First couple of segments here on the upcoming Super Bowl, plus more conversation on what's next for the Buffalo Bills, as Sean McDermott and Brandon Bean, the coach and the GM of the Buffalo Bills, respectively, talk to the gathered news media and lovely Western New York yesterday.

So we've got a lot to do on a very busy.

Friday here on Making Rain with Adam Shine, and let's start with the odds for this upcoming Super Bowl, because it really is genuinely historic. When you look at the board, right, I mean, the first thing that grabs you and should grab your from a betting perspective, but also a game competition perspective, this spread is one and a half. It is so rare in the history of the NFL in the Super Bowl that you get a point spread this mini school. You rarely see this in the history of the National Football League. In fact, I want you to take a look at this courtesy of my good friend Panther sean Over at CBS Sports, this is tied for the second lowest number.

For a spread in the history of the Super Bowl.

Look at this, you have only you have three games tied for the point spread at one and then four games tied with a historic point spread at one and a half. So this is when you look at the all time shortest super Bowl spreads. This is the historic second shortest point spread in the history of the Super Bowl. So look, I think that when you look at it from that standpoint, I mean, this is honestly as amazing and as competitive as it gets. And you know, you look at some of these great games and great moments, and you know.

Patriots and Seahawks.

Obviously that was a as dramatic and classic a finish as you could have. You know, we can go through the history of the first Chiefs and Eagles matchup, by the way, and we talked about the irony earlier this week, and I think that's important here. Chiefs Eagles in twenty twenty two was also.

One and a half.

That's noteworthy, and of course Philly was favored in that one. And listen, I think it's interesting that you look at the history from a point spread perspective, which means if you feel confident and I don't know how you could feel completely confident in either team in terms of who's ultimately going to win the game, But if you feel confident in a team and I'm picking Philly to win, guys, go back to the game board for this year with Philadelphia and Kansas City, because then I think you want to start sprinkling on the money line, you know, then you take a look at Okay, I like Philadelphia and I'm going to scream it all next week when we take our show Make It Right with Adam Shine here on vs. In to New Orleans I'm gonna take Philadelphia thirty four to thirty one, barring anything unforeseen, and that means and I've already put this put money on this spread money line a plus one ten. I kind of really am obsessed with the over, not just for the game, but also for the team total individually for both teams. So I think from a point spread perspective, this is genuinely historic.

I mean, it's crazy.

Three Super Bowls in NFL history were one point favorite, four including this one, including both. When you look at it in the brief history with Philadelphia and Kansas City, Andy Reid Bowl won Andy Reid bol two one and a half point spread. So we are going to roll with Philadelphia. But make no mistake, from a betting perspective, the odds makers are telling you this is a genuine pick them. I think at this stage you have favor if you're Vegas Kansas City, because you know you've been caught on other occasions. I mean, look at last year, Buffalo is favored, then you saw Baltimore f then you saw San Francisco favorite. In a very related story, I had Buffalo and I had Baltimore and I had San Francisco. How did that one go for me betting against the Kansas City Chiefs last year in the postseason. So this genuinely is a historic Super Bowl on so many different levels. How even it is when you watch the two teams play, and also when you take a look at the second tide for the second lowest point spread in the history of the Super Bowl. I loved what Nick Seriani had to say about Andy Reid, calling him one of the two best coaches in NFL history. And I don't think that that is prisoner of the moment. I don't think that is subject to hyperbole. I don't think that's crediting Andy Reid right before the Andy Reid Super Bowl and part two for the Andy Reid Super Bowl.

It's literally what I've said.

I think Bill Belichick is the greatest coach in the history of professional sports. So obviously I think Bill is the best coach in the history of the NFL. And the Super Bowl appearances obviously, I mean that speaks for itself. Now to mention, I also measure coaching greatness in terms of overall wins, division wins, appearances on Championship Sunday, super Bowl, appearances in super Bowl Championships, and that all matters when you start talking about greatness and then how you maximize her roster and developed the quarterback.

And you know that's why Andy Reid to me is number two.

And you start looking at super Bowl appearances when you're ahead of guys like Walsh and Lantry and Lombardi and you're tied with Shula. I mean, this is pretty heavy stuff. And you talk to an Eagles fan, they'll tell you what the Eagles were obviously before.

You saw what transpired.

Randy Reid took over in Philly and turned that team around and made the super Bowl obviously, and had all those appearances on Championship Sunday. And then, I mean, it's amazing. Three guarantees in life death taxes and Andy Reid makes the Super Bowl with Patrick Mahomes and it's a city. So it's pretty ridiculously awesome here when you take a look at it from a coaching legacy standpoint. But also, and this is where I need to raise my hand. And it's not like I say I was wrong, but I have to acknowledge a couple of takes here. We gotta throw some flowers at Nick Sirianni. And when I say flowers. It's not just an arbitrary random you know, say nice things about them.

Word.

You remember that introductory press conference where Nick Airiani is talking about planting and growing flowers, I mean, you know, or the press conference, you know, his first press conference where he didn't know what the hell was going on, or when he was talking about he likes to play rock paper scissors with draft picks to see what they throw in their strategy on it. And by the way, I'm very good at rock paper scissors. I'm just gonna tell you that. And I always throw paper, so for some reason that people don't throw paper and always instinctively.

Like to throw rock. But I digress.

Can look at this board most Super Bowl appearances by a head coach in first four seasons in the NFL, and this is kind.

Of a big deal.

And I don't want to sit here and diminish Mike Tomlin. He's going to the Hall of Fame. But obviously that was with Bill Cower's players, especially at the beginning. So there's this, and I really think that Nick Sirianni has done a hell of a job this year, and he could say some goofy things. He could do some goofy things in game, you know, I think. And we had our producer Mike Cohen go through all the show logs and the show emails for every football Monday and Tuesday on Making Rain with Adam Shine. There was one show from October on where I criticized Sirianni and that was the win against Jacksonville where I thought he did some weird things in game. Other than that, Terryanni deserves props. He deserves a lot of credit. This team has been excellent. This team has been well coached. They've played their best when it mattered the most. They've handled adversity. Look at the Rams game in the postseason, what they've been able to accomplish. They're deep, they're talented, they're buttoned up, they have no ego. His players love them. So this is going to be a fascinating coaching matchup on so many different levels. And Sirianni's got an unbelievable assistant coaching staff. Jeff Stotlin got one of my votes versus the Coach of the Year, the outstanding offensive line coach, and that line is incredible. Obviously, Kellen Moore, who's eventually gonna be the Saints new head coach as the OC he has been remarkable. Then of course, who take a look at the defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio, who's outstanding, and that defense has vastly improved. So buckle up, butter Cup. This is going to be a tremendous super Bowl, not only even in terms of the points spread, but part of it is because of the excellent coaching, head coaches and assistants on both sides. Can Josh Allen follow the career path of Wilt Chamberlain. I want you to think about this, right, and we've compared Josh to John Elway and Paul Bunyan and Superman, and you know, obviously you think about Josh Allen and you know, hasn't beat Patrick Mahomes like Peyton Manning couldn't beat Tom Brady and then it finally happened. I want you to take a look at this board courtesy of my good friend Panther Sewan over at CBS Sports, right first seven seasons in their professional careers and obviously having an inability not his fault, but an inability to get over the hump of a legendary arrival Bill Russell, Patrick Mahomes and obviously Mahomes who started talking about all time greats and winners and assassins.

Listen, you compare him to Bill Russell.

This week Mahomes was talking about, you know, comparisons with Derek Jeter and Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, and it's all applicable. Look, I think the window for Josh Allen to win a Super.

Bowl it's always open.

Bill's window is always open as long as number seventeen he's on the field. I don't think Sean mcdermot's a championship coach. I do think that they can still win in spite of him. I do think McDermott, for the most part, had an excellent regular season, really strong first two games of obviously the playoffs. Now the third game, Championship Sunday, wasn't great. Still, opportunities to win rested and helped you. Look through at the odds to win the Super Bowl next year, third highest odds right now for the Buffalo Bills at plus seven hundred. Am I gonna bet a dollar on Buffalo to win the Super Bowl next year?

You know I already have.

Make it Rain with Adam Shine. Very busy Friday.

Here's our guys, say Ron Berkley, I have a twenty twenty two Super Bowl loss still motivates the Eagles and himself.

We had from any of those guys, how much it hurt?

Yeah, definitely, definitely for sure. Uh And you know I think even though I wasn't part of that team, going back to kind of his question in the beginning, when you're able to develop a friendship and relationship with these guys and you know, be able to go to war with each other, it felt like I was, and I know how like I didn't. It wasn't there, But I can like feel my own body and myself how it felt for them to tee the confetti fall and the wrong color and having to walk out and definitely don't want to be part of that. And that's definitely something that drives us, you know, for those guys that have been part of it, but also just wanting to get the job done and knowing how it is for those guys, how it felt, and doing everything I can to my my possible ability to make sure that doesn't happen.

So when our outstanding producer Mike Cohen sent me that SoundBite last night, I got the chills, And then after I watched it, I got the chills again. And as we see it live right here, I mean, I'm ready to run through a wall. And I just liked every word that Barkley uttered, and I loved the hood and I loved you how he's got that laser focus, and he doesn't want to loose. He doesn't want his teammates who lost in the Andy Reid Bowl a couple of years ago, just don't talk about it, and sty'll think about it.

Losing a Super Bowl.

I mean, it's a permanent life tattoo. It stays with you forever, especially if you don't end up winning the Big One. And Barkley loves these guys. He feels like they're brothers and have been forever. Obviously was not parts of that team, but he understands what it was like based upon talking to them about seeing the other teams confetti fall from the sky, and he wants to make sure it doesn't happen. I think that when you start talking about Barkley, and he's my pick for the MVP, and he was my vote for the Offensive Player of the Year. We are talking about a specially he wins the Super Bowl. We're talking about the single greatest season ever in NFL history at the running back position. That's what we're talking about. And I want you to take a look at this board because you always think of Terrell Davis ninety eight. I know I do right, single best year ever for a running back and look we are talking about at the end of the day. You know, a couple of guy's, a couple of seasons for Davis that you know, put him into the Hall of Fame. And you know, I've thought Therell Davis should have been in the Hall of Fame even long before he got into the Hall of Fame.

I mean those years with.

John Elway, with Mike Shanahan, Iconic Barkley. If they win, you look at the yard total if they win the Super Bowl. Davis held them and I thought that Super Bowl against Green Bay was one of the greatest, most underrated super Bowls in the history of the NFL Packers and Broncos.

When when the Broncos ended.

Up winning, I'll tell you, I think, Barkley it's gonna go down as the greatest season ever. You look at the postseason numbers, over four hundred rushing yards, five touchdowns. Only other players done that has been to real Davis. Over two thousand yards of the regular season. Obviously that is rarefied air. And this is all part of the deal.

Y Barkley and company did not go for the single season.

Rushing record because it didn't matter because the goal as you heard in that SoundBite right there is simply and solely to win a championship. How about the history for Jalen Hurts, And I think it's important to acknowledge this. And look, we remember Jalen Hurts, obviously a couple of years ago in the Super Bowl playing brilliantly in matching Patrick Mahomes and doing a great job against Patrick Mahomes. And by the way, I'm not just randomly saying that when you play the Chiefs played their great defense in Spags and Chris Jones the company, you're playing Patrick Mahomes, that's the deal. And you know you start talking about most Super Bowl starts by a quarterback in the first five years of a career. Listen, when Jalen Hurts take the field on Super Bowl Sunday, he will make history. And you know, look at the names on this board right here. You have Brady, you have Mahomes, you have Wilson, you have Roethlisberger, you have Warner, you have Elway, you have Aikman.

You have Hall of Famers.

And that's what we're talking about when you look at this board.

And I'm not suggesting Jalen Hurts is on track to the.

Hall of fame, but he's more than just a hood ornament and a game manager along for the ride. Now, clearly the team has been run oriented and run focused ever since signing Takewan Barkley. But I thought that Hurts was phenomenal on Championship Sunday. In fact, talking to our friend, the legendary Phil Simms today in our serious XM radio show.

Fail is a very tough grainer.

He takes out his pen, he takes out his his notepad, and he grades every single game, every quarterback, and he's tough grader. He graded Jalen Hurts a perfect one hundred out of one hundred for every single throw and every decision and everything he did on Championship Sunday. So my words, I'm saying, it's all there for Jalen Hurts. And I don't know if he's going to match the numbers that he did last time in the Super Bowl. But if Jalen Hurts throws for two forty and Saint Guan rushes for you know, one p fifty, they're gonna win the Super Bowl. They're gonna win an excellent game against Kansas City. And I do think, you know, the Green Bay playoff game the LA playoff game.

Coming off of a couple.

Of injuries, there were reasons for concern for Jalen Hurts. I think he completely crushed and diminished at the end of the day. You know, all those those feelings of skepticism based upon what he was able to do when you look at it from the standpoint of, Okay, now, how he can dominate against Washington. I think he's ready to have a duplicate effort execution against Kansas City once again on Super Bowl Sunday. It's interesting to look at the Super Bowl odds. I think that Saquon Barkley and Patrick Mahomes are the bets, depending upon which side drawn.

If that's boring to you.

Look, Travis Kelsey is obviously the most prolific postseason performer as a pass catcher in NFL history. I'll tell you though, the one that I think is a good dark choruses Jalen Carter because if it's a close game and he can make a difference making playmaking play or splash player, create a turnover, or get a quarterback sack like he did as an example in the RAM game, where you know that he saved the entire season. That's the one I could see as a flyer. Otherwise, I think you bet this one safely.

Barkley.

If you like the Eagles like I Knew Homes, if you like the Kansas City Chiefs. How about the injury report here for the Philadelphia Eagles. I do feel compelled weekend, two days away from the game, just to mention some of the injuries. Cam Jurgens did not practice. He has a beck Landon Dickerson with the knee, Devonte Smith with the hamsterring. Brandon Graham's trying to come back from that torn triceps. Obviously, he's a former Super Bowl hero and an Eagles legend. The offense, Smith is gonna play right. I'm actually not worried about Smith. Brandon Graham would be a cherry on top of your Super Bowl Sunday.

Jurgens and Dickerson.

We will be monitoring all week in New Orleans next week and making rain with Adam Shine.

Those to me.

Are important injuries to pay attention to. Joe Burrow spoke at the Pro Bowl yesterday and begged management to pay the great players on the team. This is brilliant stuff from the part of Joe Burrow and the fact that the Bengals. Dilli dallied with Jamar Chase, and Chase went on and just won the triple Crown for wide receivers and had it was number one and the three most important categories with touchdowns and catches and receiving yards.

I mean, it's absurd. And the fact that T.

Higgins is a free agent and every team that needs a receiver, from the Steelers to the Patriots, or the Chargers, the Bills, the Packers, everyone is going to be linked to T. Trey Hendrickson needs a new contract. They let Joe Mixon go last year, they let Jesse Bates go the year before that. Joe Burrow's pissed off, and honestly, I don't blame him, and every time he speaks, it's a shot up to the frugal and the cheap Mike Brown, Hey, try and keep the band together, because I said, the window for the Bills always open when seventeen's on the field. The window for the Bengals is always open. You have Burrow, Chase A Higgins. Unfortunately for Cincy they missed the playoffs and who knows if you're ever literally and this sucks, gonna see that trio again, Whether you're a season better or just joining the action. Walk back, Meghan writing, Adam Shine joining us right now, live on the Progressive guest line. You know him, you love him, you can't live without him VS In Superstar, My guy, Nick wayl it is nice enough to join.

Us, Nick, how are you? He said Superstar Adam.

I don't know if that quite applies, but I'll take it.

Good to be back, man, Good to be back, Thanks for having me. It's great to have you back.

I heard you right before us, saw the entire show on my vson watchapp and sounded great, and I'm really excited about everything for you and love listening to you on NBA Radio on Sirius XM as well, and listen. I want to start with some hoops, right, We've been talking football NonStop first thirty minutes of the show, and I'll pick your brain on the super Bowl in a little bit. But this Jimmy Butler insanity. And you know, I love pat Riley. I think he's an all time Mount Rushmore combo exec and head coach in history. I love Eric Spoulster. I made the case he's an all timer as well. I believe heat culture and I give you that. To give you this Miami to be found, this whole thing up. They needed to know how this was going to end and get in front of it. On Jimmy Butler, you know, you look at all the suspensions, it's a disaster.

I think they inevitably have to trade them.

Regardless of what Riley said and that statement, which I never believed.

How does this play out with Jimmy Butler.

Well, conveniently, Jimmy Butler's I guess latest suspension at least five games is up right before the trade deadline this coming Thursday. So I think there's going to be a resolution.

I'm with you, Adam.

This has gotten to the point where, even if the Heat deep down would prefer to keep Jimmy Butler, even if they know they're going to have to maybe trade them for fifty cents on the dollar, the idea of bringing Jimmy Butler back to this team after the trade deadline obviously at a point when you can't do anything, he's just got to be on the roster. I think this has become completely untenable. You know, you have kind of an unstoppable force in pat Riley and an immovable object in Jimmy Butler going ahead to Neither of these guys want to budge. But ultimately I think Jimmy Butler is going to get his way, which is out of Miami. But the question is are they going to acquiesce to anything that Jimmy Butler wants as far as where he wants to be directed. You know, the Heat are not under any obligation to send Jimmy Butler to a team that he wants to go to. Now, the question is, is Jimmy Butler if they send him to, say, to the Memphis Grizzlies, you know, a team that Butler has signaled he's not interested in playing for which would actually be an interesting fit. Is he going to show up in Memphis to do the same thing that he's doing in Miami. So you know, Butler, to his credit, has done a decent job of kind of I think dissuading some of these teams that might be interested in him. But I don't think Miami is going to get anything close to the type of return that you would expect for Jimmy Butler. But at this point, I think you just have to sell him for spare parts. I think you have to get what you can get, and Miami has been so good over the years. Credit to pat Riley, Credit to Eric spolsterra At developing some of these pieces. Guys who don't come in with harolded names or harolded pedigrees. They get in that heat system, they play there for a year or two, and all of a sudden they become really solid assets. So you just got to get guys who are going to be availed, Guys who are going to buy in after the deadline. This is a team much like the Pittsburgh Stealers.

Ad them.

They're always in hit the gas mod They don't want to rebuild, they want to win as many games as they can. I don't think they want to punt on this season.

Totally agree with you and listen Chicago, Minnesota, Philadelphia, Miami, and always ends with with Jimmy Butler. So you know, we'll see in terms of before the trade deadline on the sixth of February. Now, speaking of the trade deadline, boy, this the Aaron Fox situation is wild. I mean, are the Kings really going to fire Mike Brown and then trade the Aaron Fox? Sounds like it feels inevitable, whether it's before this deadline or the offseason. Some point he's going to be an ex Sacramento King. Draft Kings actually has odds on the next team for the Aaron Fox. I would love love, from a selfish standpoint, for it to be the San Antonio Spurs. I think that would be incredible theater and drama. I think that that's the perfect fed. How do you think Nick this plays out.

I think they'll end up moving him, likely before the deadline. You know, you don't want to read too deeply into these odds. You know, the Kings are the incumbent right now, they're the short shot at plus one hundred, and of course he's on their roster, so that's almost always going to be the case. But the Spurs aren't far behind. They're plus one seventy right now. And you know as well as I do, Adam, when when star players get to the point where they're not only requesting out, but they're naming specific destinations, the players tend to get their way, especially when Rich Paul is involved, and Dearon Fox is a clutch client. Obviously the appeal of playing alongside Victor wemin Yama, that's obvious. Deeron Fox also a Texas kid, so the Spurs are not necessarily on the top of everybody's list, but I think there is a connection there that would make sense for him.

Now.

I actually think this is going to end up working out fairly well for Sacramento. You know, Fox putting the Spurs out there, you know, holding the the King's feet to the fire. Yeah, that removes some leverage. But Fox is a good enough player, He's a young enough player onlike Jimmy Butler, that I think there's going to be a bidding war here. You know, they're not just going to let the same Tonio Spurs get him or a bargain. I think other teams are going to be very, very active in trying to acquire Deeron Fox. And again, he's not Bradley Beale. He doesn't have a no trade clause. He can't pick his destination. So I think the Spurs makes sense. I think they're plus one seventy for a reason. But you look at a team like the Houston Rockets, you know the type of assets that they could put on the table. Another Texas team. You know, they have all these young guys, you know, almost too much talent at the guard, in the wing spots. They need to condense some of that. You know, you could give Tarry Easton, you could give Jabari Smith.

You got picks.

I think, to me, outside of San Antonio, Houston would be the spot, you know, from an objective NBA observer standpoint, that I would kind of like to see Dearon Fox landing. I mean, that would take them from this kind of Tier two maybe they're a contender to all of a sudden, I mean that that might be the second or third team to beat in the Western Conference.

I don't think there's any question about that Fox is as a ball player. I mean he's a tremendous player, great player, star player. Always been a big Daron Fox fan. I always believe that if he was healthy a couple of years ago, they would have beat the Golden State Warriors. So I'm with you on the potential impact when you look at it for those specific teams. How about the NBA slate tonight, Nick, This this is a real by the way. He's spent a great week in terms of games and action in the NBA.

I thought last night was fun. Tonight's gonna be fun.

Who do you like tonight in terms of some terms of some of your favorite NBA players.

Yeah, I'll run through a few here quickly. And you know I have a habit out of targeting the bad teams in the NBA, and we have one of those in the early window. The Clippers are on the road at what remains of the Charlotte Hornets, who of course don't have Brandon Miller for the rest of the year.

No LaMelo ball. Tonight.

I'm looking at the under on the Hornets team total, which you can get at ninety eight and a half. I'm also looking at the Clippers minus seven and a half in the first half. You know, I don't I don't hate you know, thirteen on the game line, but backdoor could be open here in terms of the prop market, towain with James Harden over nine and a half assists. He's gone over that number in seven of nine games when Kawhi Leonard plays, so we see kind of a different version of James Hardened with Kawhi Leonard out there. But in terms of the total here, I mean, this should be kind of a chokeout spot for this Clippers team that has been the best defense in the NBA by a wide margin over the last couple of weeks. I mean, they're four point two points per one hundred better than the next best defense, the Oklahoma City thunder who've been fantastic on that end. We've got two slow paced teams here, and with regard to that Charlotte team total, the Hornets have finished under one hundred points in six of the last seven games that LaMelo Ball has missed, including this past Wednesday against the Nets when they put up eighty three on the Brooklyn Nets.

Which is crazy when you stop and think about it. So those are some interesting plays. I'll give everyone some plays we have for the NBA tonight. It should be a great weekend coming up for the NBA.

Even the games tomorrow with the Pacers.

I'm going to be very into that one Lakers and the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. That's always fun, you know, Sixers going up against the Celtics on ESPN on Sunday night. I want to get your take on the Super Bowl though, Nick, you you talk football, and I can't wait to get your take on who you think is And I want to start here because it's the second shortest odds time for second shortest odds in Super Bowl history at one and a half. So simple yet loaded question, and then we'll expand from it.

Who wins the Super Bowl?

The Kansas City Chiefs are winning the Super Bowl. I am not betting against Patrick Mahomes. That was the mantra last week against the Buffalo Bills. I know they were at home for this or for that game, and this is neutral site. But look, if I'm siding with Mahomes against the Buffalo Bills, I think we have a similar opponent in terms of quality in the Eagles, and I'm not jumping off them now. I think this three peede, I think it really matters to the Chiefs. You know, when you have a team like Kansas City that knows one as much as they have over the last few years. You need to find that carrot. You need to find that extra motivation to continue a dynasty like this, and I think the opportunity to establish themselves as the modern dynasty, you know, do something that no team in the NFL has ever done. And winning three straight Super Bowls, I think that really matters. I think the Chiefs will be laser focused on that. All due respect to Philly, I think this is a better version all around of that Eagles team that we saw against Kansas City two super Bowls ago. I think this might be the best and most talented roster in the NFL. But you know as well as I do, Adam, there's going to be a sequence late in the fourth quarter where the Chiefs are facing a third downs. Let's say it's third and four, maybe they're down a point or two. I'm not picking against Patrick Mahomes to pick that up. I'm not picking against Harrison Bucker to make the field goal that ultimately wins the Chiefs this game.

Nick, You're the best.

Ah Yes, welcome back Meghan Rain with Adam Shann here on Vason time for our news notes, nuggets nightly place. How about the Lakers last night absolutely destroyed the Washington Wizards, and look, I know the Wizards are obviously barely functional and masquerading as a real NBA team.

But I agree with what JJ Reddick said.

After the game, this was a relatively big deal because the Lakers, on the heels of getting smoked on Tuesday against Philadelphia, played angry. And look, the Lakers have won five of their last six and they deserve a lot of credit for how they've played and how they've responded. And you know, Anthony Davis wants to see the team get aggressive and make some trades, and I think that they can use another big before the February sixth trade deadline. I do think that will eventually happen, so it'll be really interesting to see how it transpires in terms of the deadline.

But Lakers are very much alive.

And I know there are some haters and some critics and some members of the media lead who don't want to see it and don't want to acknowledge it, but it's true. I mean, look at the odds to win the Western Conference, and you know, I think, frankly, while I don't believe the Lakers will win the West, if you think they're capable and they're right now about the five seed in the Western Conference of winning a rounder two, Look this isn't the worst bed ever. And you know, frankly, I I have issues with how this is, you know, weighted in Vegas, Like I think the Rockets should have much lower ons than than they do. You know, I think the Thunder will win the West. So that's where my money is and that's why they are a heavy odds on favorite. But I actually think an injury is a factor for for Dallas. I like it a better chance to winning the West and Dallas Mavericks. You know, the Grizzlies and Rockets played a tremendous game last night. So obviously it's controversy with the refs at the end. But I'm telling you, just keep your eye on the Lakers up until the trade deadline. They make a move, you might be happy a guy in the Lakers to win the Western Conference. Again, my pick is OKC, but right matchups, this could be a year where the Lakers win a playoff round or two. And if they find themselves in the Western Conference finals and it's Lebron and it's Davis, and it's Davis healthy playing at the clip, the All Star clip, dominant clip, arguably the best clip of his entire career. Hey, we're gonna have a conversation. How about the Cleveland Cavaliers absolutely destroyed the Atlanta Hawks.

I was dead wrong on this one. Last night.

I thought that with Cleveland on a back to back and Trey Young getting snubbed inexplicably should have been an All Star, especially over Calves. Darius Garland has had a great year. But you can't justify at the end of the day, you can't justify taking Garland over Trey Young.

I mean, they they smoked the Anta Hawks, and to.

Do this on a back to back, I thought was a pretty massive deal.

And I want to stress that here and I want to give some love.

To the Cleveland Cavaliers, and I want to give some love to the Minnesota Timberwolves because we've talked about how I would eliminate back to backs completely right, and Adam Silver is talking about shortening the length of games forty eight minutes of action to forty That's not how you do it right. It's about teams who don't play their guys or players who don't take it seriously on back to backs. Let me tell you something. Minnesota destroyed the Utah Jazz. That to me is a significant deal. And the way those guys Anthony Edwards and company stepped up. That's a credit to Minnesota, Cleveland. That's a credit to Cleveland. So we can obviously talk about things that played the NBA all the time, you know, things that need to change. Let's make sure for the sake of fairness and also in enjoyment and also moving it forward, because I know, for me, right when I look at teams that can cover, I look at who has a back to back and try.

To bet against them.

Minnesota Cleveland destroying inferior teams second portion of a back to back. You file that in the mental rollodex next time they're in a similar situation. Seventy six ers hosted Denver Nuggets tonight and listen, obviously, you know you could be talking about Embiid and yo kid George's probably going to be Embiid running scared.

This is the problem with the NBA. I don't have the energy here.

To even you know, figure out who's going to be in and who's going to be out. I will tell you though, Tyrese Maxi being in makes me want to bed Philadelphia, and I think that Jokich is obviously unbelievable.

You know that little Northeast trip form.

We got an early foul trouble and Denver got slaughtered going up against the Knicks my next the other night. I do think that Philly with Maxi at least can keep it close and hang. And boy, you just wish Joel Embiid would want to be a part of something like this. We got a really fun tall order tonight of the NBA with Wemby going up against Gianna Sante to Compo. This is kind of fun in the association with a couple of certified freaks Victor Wembaniaba and of course the Greek freak Janni's Ante t Compo. And I do like Milwaukee tonight's with the spread. I do like Milwaukee money line. And I would really love to see when it's all said and done, Daron Fox get traded here to the San Antonio Spurs. I can't wait for Kevin Durance to go home and play the Warriors. And by the way, we're allowed to say that, right it's going home. And I always hope that the rank gets the Heroes welcome. Look, he was on a team had future Hall of Famer coach Steve Kerr that has Steph Curry Klay Thompson, who I think is most underrated as superstar in the NBA in the last twenty years. Curry obviously living legends, you know, an all timer, best outside show to three point Shooder in the history of the NBA, Traymond Green's going to the Hall of Fame. When Durant was on those Warrior teams, wasn't a hood ornament.

He was the best player on it.

He should always get a standing ovation, he should always get a tribute video, and then you should rip him for one of the worst decisions ever hitching his wagon to Kyrie Irving going to a nondescript, no fan based Brooklyn Nets team and you know, there was no success and it's a shame because Kyrie didn't want to be there. And you know, Durant was phenomenal against Milwaukee in that second round, that Game seven. Marv Albert told me once in my SERVICEX sum Radio show is the best Game seven you've.

Ever he's ever seen, and Durant was remarkable. Member.

How the toe on the line goes to overtime rest is history. Duranto should be celebrated as a Warrior. I'll always defend him going from ok seed to Golden State. You know, we talked about it in all these sports no championships, championships, championships, well off Durant State of Oka See and never won. People be saying, oh, well, nice career where the champion. So be careful our criticism for Durant as a Warrior. You want to criticize Durant as a Brooklyn Net or joining the Brooklyn Nets, That's a different story.

Listen.

Even in a down yere Duke North Carolina always gets me going as a college sports fan and as a college basketball fan, and it's always fun. And I'll tell you Duke is the best team in the country. Duke, as you know, is my pick to win a championship and to cut down the nets. A coop of flag is amazing. I kind of like the tar Heels with the points plus thirteen and a half. See, if I have the guts to pick it tomorrow, I do think that they can absolutely cover that spread.

It's one of those rivalry games.

You know, if my guy R. J. Davis, you kind of throw everything out the window, Smina throwing things out the window. John Caliperry is going back to Kentucky tomorrow. I hope he gets cheered. I hope that he's celebrated. Obviously, a championship could have won more. We understand that and ended with a dud. Now this is one because of the situation. I think Kentucky's gonna steamroll Arkansas. I don't think these guys at Arkansas I care about playing for calib PARI have them the history of wanting to play for cali PARI. I think Kentucky is much better. I think a lot of these players will be motivated. I can't stress enough how much I like Kentucky. Lay in the points tomorrow. By the way, we have the calendar flipping tomorrow to FAB one and two big name players in baseball are still on signed Alex Bregman and Peede Alonzo. I think conventional wisdom at this stage says Alonso goes back to the Mets and Boyd to Scott Bars, screw up the free agency there. Alex Bregman, I think realistic chance he goes back to Houston, probably plays second base. I can think Bregman getting a long term deal. Cannot see that for Peter Alonzo at this stage.
