Friday March 31 is International Transgender Day of Visibility. We were joined on air this morning by Alex Deforge.

Alex is a non-binary, trans, queer, and mixed race settler of Filipinix and white ancestry, working with Qmunity as Manager of Programs and Services.

QMUNITY is a non-profit organization based in Vancouver, BC that works to improve queer, trans, and Two-Spirit lives. We provide a safer space for 2SLGBTQIA+ people and their allies to fully self-express while feeling welcome and included. Our building serves as a catalyst for community initiatives and collective strength.

Each year on March 31, the world observes Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) to raise awareness about transgender people. It is a day to celebrate the lives and contributions of trans people, while also drawing attention to the poverty, discrimination, and violence the community faces.
