ACNS has always strived to create an environment in which people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS feel empowered and supported. Their aim is to end stigma and discrimination, and reduce new cases of HIV and continue to do so.
Recently, ACNS has announced a transformation into HEAL NS (aka: Health Equity Alliance of Nova Scotia)
They'll continue the vital HIV-focused work, but also be expanding their mission to address a range of health challenges unique to queer communities as they tap into new funding streams to support new programs. The first concrete program reflecting broader queer health concerns is a 2SLGBTQIA+ Health Needs Survey that will launch early next year. Stay tuned for more updates on how HEAL NS will be working towards better health outcomes for Queer Nova Scotians.
