The Halifax Mussels are Atlantic Canada’s first 2SLGBTQIA+ and Allies hockey team, based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. They focus on teaching adults how to play hockey from the ground up, offering skill-building sessions in a fun, inclusive, and judgment-free setting. No experience? No problem—many players start without ever having skated before. The Mussels are all about learning the game, building confidence, and creating community. Up next? They’re launching the Premiere Queer Hockey League (PQHL)—a youth program designed to teach queer teens hockey in the same welcoming environment. Want to get involved?
