In this episode of Vinyl Vibes, Jack interviews Bob Berryhill, rhythm guitarist and founding member of The Surfaris. The group is best known for their 1963 international surf-rock hit "Wipe Out". The band was formed in 1962 by teenagers Bob Berryhill, Pat Connolly, Jim Fuller and Ron Wilson. In the fall of 1962 the group entered a recording studio in Cucamonga, California, where they intended to record one song, "Surfer Joe". Needing a second song for their 45 single, the group made-up on the spot the song that would become known as "Wipe Out". This song would become one of the best known instrumentals ever recorded, and was a world-wide hit in 1963. The band would move away from the surf-rock sound in the mid '60s and would disband in 1966. 

Bob Berryhill is the last founding member of the group still performing live as the The Surfaris today. 

In Jack's interview with Bob Berryhill he talks with Bob about his early musical beginnings, how he came to play guitar, the impact surf rocker Dick Dale had on the group, the formation of The Surfaris, the recording and success of "Wipe Out" and "Surfer Joe", the group's work throughout the '60s, and a bit about his music work today.
