View descriptionShare

In Episode 49, Stuart McCullough opens VHIA’s first podcast of the year with a discussion on the Doctors in Training Agreement. He invites Senior Workplace Relations Consultant, Daniel Pullin, to talk about the Agreement in Principle reached at the end of 2017 for both Doctors in Training and Medical Specialists Agreements. In relation to the Doctors in Training Agreement, Stuart and Daniel discuss the remuneration and allowance increases, including the recognition of interstate parity, the payment of a Lump Sum Bonus and increases to the Continuing Medical Education Allowance. In addition, Stuart and Daniel summarise the changes to Training Time, the arrangement of backfill; rotation arrangements;  Examination and Conference Leave; two-year contracts; the extension of contract length due to certain absences and new provisions surrounding hours of work, including changes to maximum shift lengths for Registrars, night shift arrangements and the introduction of a fatigue management review.

Health Services should have received a Bulletin requesting members to prepare to return an eligible employee list that may be required on short notice leading up to a Ballot Date which has yet to be announced. There will be an EBA Forum to discuss the changes and implementation to this agreement which will be communicated to members in the coming weeks.

Discussion starts at 2:34 time mark.
