Pastor Paul Buntyn is a “walking miracle”! Growing up in Harlem and playing basketball in world-famous Rucker Park, being recruited by Maryland Eastern Shore University to play hoops but being drafted to serve in the United State Military (Marines). This miracle man should not have left Vietnam alive. Pastor Buntyn shares his story of faith, overcoming obstacles, physical challenges, and racism. He talks about his passion for helping young people rise and thrive (and briefly talks about his encouragement of Rucker legends Rod Strickland, Kenny “The Jet” Smith, Kenny Anderson, and Gene Banks. He discusses continuing to help student-athletes who may be overlooked and underserved as well as his recent calling from God to create dialogues with white pastors and police departments about understanding racism and working through it. Pastor Buntyn recently retired as senior pastor of Abundant Life Christian Church (San Marcos, Texas) and is founder of Alternative Life Moving Strategies (ALMS).
