As South Africa prepares for another election season, the spotlight turns to our schools and universities. It is said that young people who vote for the first time are more likely to become lifelong voters, making the role of educators critical in nurturing a culture of participation and democracy. Despite young people forming the majority of South Africa’s population, voter concern remains a challenge, especially among 16 to 19-year-olds. We are in conversation with Mr Mbasa Mvenene about how educators can shape informed voters, he also encourages the youth to engage actively in shaping their future.
