The president and his legal team have said Democrats never asked John Bolton to testify, Republicans were not allowed to ask questions during the House deposition and that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell called Trump’s phone call with the Ukrainian president “the most innocent phone call” he’s ever read. 

“Detractors of the president will automatically call it a lie because they want to assign the most nefarious possible intent,” Cortes said.
