Lt-Col Justice Jabulani Duma told the Madlanga Commission that he had no interaction with an official who claimed he was not informed about the container inspection that led to a major drug seizure. Duma said he was unaware of the procedures followed by that official and believed any communication failures may have occurred at depot level. He explained that the container had already left Durban Harbour and was located at a depot when the inspection took place. Duma further testified that ORS members were present during the inspection and that information about who attended the operation would ordinarily be recorded in his official report submitted after the operation.

Western Cape police say they are investigating violence in Mossel Bay following deadly incidents in KwaNonqaba and nearby informal settlements. Authorities say two Mozambican nationals and a South African teenager were killed in separate attacks linked to recent unrest. Police report that about 55 shacks were torched during the violence in Asla Park, prompting rapid deployment of public order units and emergency services. The South African Police Service says calm has since been restored, with several arrests already made on charges including public violence and possession of stolen property. Investigations continue into the killings, with detectives pursuing known suspects in one of the murder cases.Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC reporter Sagree Chetty

Taxi umbrella body SANTACO has called on law-enforcement agencies to act swiftly and decisively to bring to book, those responsible for a taxi-related shooting incident in Nyanga(on the Cape Flats) this morning which left four people dead. Two other were wounded in the shooting. The injured victims were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to Western Cape police spokesperson, Andrè Traut
