The South African Municipal Workers' Union (SAMWU) has called on the City of Ekurhuleni to discontinue disciplinary action against nearly 400 metropolitan police officers over an unprotected strike. A dispute over salary adjustments and over-time compensation sparked the strike which took place in March. The city says it has issued pre-dismissal notices to 389 officers for misconduct.
