President Cyril Ramaphosa says HIV/AIDS has left a destruction and scars in many families across the country and the globe. Ramaphosa was speaking at the official launch of the HIV prevention drug- Lenacapavir in Secunda, Mpumalanga. He says 360 public health care centers in the country's provinces will be administering the drug to save lives. Ramaphosa has urged young people to continue using other preventative measures available beyond the new drug.  IDAC accountability must extend beyond Johnson, says Public Interest SA 

The Judicial Service Commission has advised President Cyril Ramaphosa to suspend Eastern Cape Judge President Selby Mbenenge pending Parliament's decision on his possible impeachment. The recommendation follows a finding of gross misconduct against Mbenenge over sexual harassment allegations made by Judges' Secretary Andiswa Mengo. The allegations relate to in-person interactions and electronic communications between June 2021 and November 2022. Mbenenge is challenging the misconduct finding in court. JSC backs Mbenenge suspension to protect judicial integrity. 

The Gauteng Department of Education has announced that applications for admission to Grade 1 and Grade 8 for the 2027 academic year will officially open at on Wednesday the 5th August 2026, and close at midnight on Friday the 4th of September 2026. Gauteng Education MEC Lebogang Maile says during this period, all parents and legal guardians seeking placement for learners entering Grade 1 or Grade 8 at a public school in Gauteng must submit their applications exclusively through the Gauteng Online Admissions System. Maile says parents must register using new login credentials, as previous usernames and passwords will not be valid.
