The ANC's National Executive Committee will meet today to discuss the way forward regarding the government of national unity. This follows the passing of the budget last week where the key partner, the DA voted against. The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) is urging is residents along the Vaal River to remove valuable equipment, movable infrastructure and livestock, and evacuate to avoid damage or loss of life when the riverbanks overtop. The Department has opened a fifth sluice gate at the Vaal Dam in order to manage the rapidly increasing water levels due to heavy rainfall overnight in the catchment area. Gauteng police have launched a manhunt for a group of gunmen who opened fire and killed three men, believed to be taxi marshals, in Mofolo Central, in Soweto. Johannesburg Metro Police and emergency services are currently at the scene of the shooting, where vehicles are being diverted away from the area. Motorists are advised to avoid using the junction of Machaba Drive and Mageza Street. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC reporter, Lerato Makola
