The Alexandra Magistrates Court in Johannesburg has heard that 21-year-old student Bafana Mahungela was not informed of his rights and was not handed a search warrant upon his arrest last month. Mahungela is continuing his bail application after he was arrested for the alleged premeditated murder and rape of Johannesburg teacher Kirsten Kluyts. The 34-year-old Delta Park High School English teacher was murdered while taking part in a local sporting event in October.

Health Minister, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi says the current food poisoning cases are deemed as a national security threat. This follows the recent reported cases of food poisoning, which led to the death of children and some hospitalized in various provinces such as Gauteng and Mpumalanga. The minister also highlighted that they have doubts that the poisonous agents are found in school feeding scheme food, but they are working around the clock to find out the root of the cause of this incidents.. The Protea Magistrate's Court, in Soweto, has postponed to next Friday, the case against a man accused of raping and murdering a six year old girl, in Orlando, earlier this week. The Mozambican national was arrested on Wednesday night after a warrant was issued for his arrest, just days after he allegedly lured, raped and then murdered the child. The community of Orlando took matters into their own hands a few days ago, when they searched door-to-door for the accused, following the discovery of the child's remains.
