The Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA) was scheduled to be briefed by the National Skills Fund (NSF) and the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) on developments emanating from the 2022/23 annual reports of the entities and on the investigations currently being conducted by the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) on the entities. Standing Committee on Public Accounts reschedules briefing by department of higher education following deputy minister's no-show

The Vredenburg Magistrate's Court, in the Western Cape, has postponed to 21 October 2024, the case against 4 people accused of involvement in the disappearance of 6-year-old, Joslin Smith. The accused made a brief appearance in court this morning, where new evidence was heard after it came to light, resulting in the state's request for a postponement for further investigations.  It has been nearly 7 months since Joslin went missing from her home in the Middelpos informal settlement, in Saldanha Bay. The four accused, including the little girl's mother, Kelly Smith, and her boyfriend, Jacquen Appollis, face charges of trafficking in persons with the purpose of exploitation and kidnapping. Mother of 6-year-old, Joslin Smith and three co-accused, appear stoic as case is postponed again

The Praktiseer Magistrate's Court, outside Burgersfort, in the Limpopo province is expected to heard the case against two suspected kingpins allegedly behind illegal mining after they were arrested for allegedly being in possession of chrome valued at over 20-million rand.  They are believed to be directors of an organization that deals in the illegal trade of minerals. Their case is expected to be joined with one against Geologist, Jan Aucamp, who was arrested on a similar charge in December last year. SABC reporter, Rendani Raliphaswa has more

Two suspected illegal chrome mining kingpins set to appear before the Praktiseer Magistrate's Court, in the Limpopo province

Money, sharp objects and cellphones were some of the illegal items found and confiscated during a raid at St Albans Correctional Center in Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape in the early of hours of Today. The unannounced search operation was led by Correctional Services National Commissioner, Makgothi Thobakgale.
