Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande to be extradited from eSwatini to South Africa in AKA murder case

Minister of Electricity and Energy,  Kgosientsho Ramokgopa has withdrawn the section 34 determination to proceed with the country's nuclear build to allow for a proper process of public participation. Ramokgopa says while he notes that this will cause delays in the implementation of the nuclear energy program, public participation is necessary in order for the country to scrutinize and respond to the unfolding process, for transparency's sake. Udo Carelse spoke to Hilton Trolllip, Research Associate at Energy Systems  Research Group at the Uiversity of Cape Town.

Electricity Minister withdraws section 34 determination to proceed with the country's nuclear build, in order to allow for a proper process of public participation.

Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Thembi Simelane says efforts to extradite Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife from Malawi are ongoing, as well as the Gupta Brothers from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Bushiri made headlines in November 2021 when he and his wife Mary fled South Africa to Malawi after he was granted bail by the Pretoria Magistrates' Court, facing charges of money laundering and fraud. The extradition request of the the Gupta Brothers to the UAE was rejected in April last year, following which South Africa declared them as fugitives. The minister says these cases have faced several challenges, but remains steadfast in pursuit of accountability. The Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Development was providing an update on departmental priorities and address matters of public interest.

The Socio-Economic Rights Institute - SERI - says only 35 families of the 37 mineworkers who were killed in Marikana in August 2012 have been compensated for their financial loss by the state. it has been 12 years to the day.... since the murders of 34 mineworkers at the infamous Koppie . At least 10 people including mineworkers, police officers and security guards were killed in the days preceding the massacre. According to SERI, there have been no prosecutions for the murders that happened on that fateful day....the 16th of August 2012..SABC reporter,Thabiso Moss compiled the following report...
