Seven police officers and one civilian have appeared before the Durban Magistrate's Court in KwaZulu-Natal for extortion-related crimes. The Hawks confirmed that three of the officers and a civilian were arrested on Sunday, for allegedly extorting money from a shop owner in Phoenix in Durban. Four other officers who were accomplices in the alleged extortion handed themselves over to police this morning.
