Sentencing procedures in the trial of a teenager and her two co-accused of the murder of four members of her family members have been postponed to the 3rd of June. Onthathile Sebati, cousins Kagiso Mokone and Tumelo Mokone were found guilty of murdering Sebati's parents, her pregnant sister and a three-year-old brother at their home in Mmakau, near Brits, almost 8 years ago. The deceased were wiped out in a cold-blooded murder orchestrated by Onthatile who was 15-years-old at the time. SABC reporter, Phumzile Mlangeni filed this report.

National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola has told the Adhoc Committee investigating criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system that the Political Killings Task Team was disbanded to prevent the investigation of Gauteng cases. Masemola says from the communications or chats between Matlala and Mogotsi the minister of police was being communicated to or kept informed.

KwaZulu-Natal police say a 22-year-old suspect who had been arrested for attempted murder was shot and killed after attacking officers inside the holding cells at Ntuzuma police station on Monday morning. Police say the suspect overpowered two officers, took keys to the main door and assaulted them before grabbing a firearm from responding officers and opening fire. Tactical teams later intervened and fatally wounded him. Two officers sustained minor injuries during the scuffle. Authorities say the situation was contained after several tense minutes. KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda  explains

Suspect shot dead in Ntuzuma police cells shootout

Former head of the National Prosecuting Authority Vusi Pikoli has told the Truth and Reconciliation Commission that the independence of the National Prosecuting Authority must be protected, even while maintaining cooperation with the government. Pikoli says his approach was always based on tactical flexibility, sharing information where necessary without compromising the NPA's constitutional independence. Pikoli also recalled a meeting with several ministers where concerns were raised about prosecutions linked to apartheid-era activities. He says some feared that pursuing certain cases could trigger renewed calls to prosecute former liberation movement members for actions before 1994.
