Senators in Kenya have voted to remove Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua from office. This is despite his failure to testify at his impeachment trial after his lawyer said he'd been taken to hospital. Gachagua is accused of corruption, inciting ethnic divisions and undermining the government. He has denied all the charges. He has been replaced by Professor Abraham Kithure Kindiki.
