SAPS Brigadier Rachel Matjeng has faced tough questioning at the Madlanga Commission, over R300,000 received from Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala. Commissioner Madlanga argued that after a long relationship, the most plausible explanation was gratification a form of bribery to secure her influence in police matters, saying her personal story didn't hold up. Matjeng has  firmly maintained the payments were personal, not corrupt means.
