South Africans will have to brace themselves for electricity price increases in 2026 and 2027. The National Energy Regulator of SA has entered into a settlement with Eskom, giving it an additional R54bn over three years on top of the R1.2-trillion is has already approved. Earlier this year Eskom lodged a judicial review of Nersa's decision to grant Eskom a price increase on the basis it wasn't enough.
