The Road Accident Fund chief executive, Collins Letsoalo, has been placed on special leave. Letsoalo appeared before the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa) this morning, was suspended  allegedly with full pay.  This emerged before the Standing Committee on Public Accounts when RAF was updating the committee on investigations conducted by the Special Investigating Unit. Road Accident Fund CEO placed on special leave pending conclusion of maladministration probe 

Former head of the National Prosecuting Authority Vusi Pikoli has told the Truth and Reconciliation Commission that the independence of the National Prosecuting Authority must be protected, even while maintaining cooperation with the government. Pikoli says his approach was always based on tactical flexibility, sharing information where necessary without compromising the NPA's constitutional independence. Pikoli also recalled a meeting with several ministers where concerns were raised about prosecutions linked to apartheid-era activities. He says some feared that pursuing certain cases could trigger renewed calls to prosecute former liberation movement members for actions before 1994. Suspended SAPS Organized Crime Head Richard Shibiri says he did not get himself involved but was tasked by General Shadrack Sibiya to find out what charges Katiso KT Molefe was arrested on. Shibiri was responding to Evidence Leader Lee Seegels-Ncube's question on his invoment in the arrest of Katiso KT Molefe whilst he was on leave and off duty.
