Residents of Mthatha, in the Eastern Cape province, take to the streets in protest against high crime levels including, femicide, extortion, murder and stock theft

A mass protest is currently underway in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape today against the high level or crime in various communities.  Community members of Mthatha say they are struggling with femicide, extortion, murder and stock theft. The protest march is taking place a day after the national police commissioner, Gen Fannie Masemola, was in Mthatha to update on the police intervention which is focusing on extortion. Sakina Kamwendo spoke to SABC reporter, Nomzwanele Bacela, in Mthatha.
