Data released by Statistics South Africa shows that the price of goods have remained steady over the past two months, as the consumer price index held at 5,2-percent in May, unchanged from April 2024. The data indicates that after five consecutive months of decline, prices for food non-alcohol beverages remained unchanged at 4,7-perdent in May from April. However higher rates were recorded for transport, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, while softer prices were recorded for miscellaneous goods and services, communication, clothing and footwear, as well as restaurants and hotels.
